Gettin’ Metal w/ Wacław "Vogg" Kiełtyka of Decapitated Interview and Photos by Nicole Stella Headlining this years Summer Slaughter fest was Poland's Decapitated. I sat down with guitarist Vogg before they took the stage. He was by far one of the most personable people I have met. Having only been in America a few times, his English was far from the best, but we did all we could to understand each other and come out with an amazing interview. PI: How does it feel to be getting so much recognition in America? WK: It's just awesome, you know. It's just great. Some people can recognize me. We've been here a couple of times before in the past and I can say that a lot of people know the band and some people really like our music. It's just great that we are recognized here. PI: After overcoming personal hardships, do you feel closer as a band now, going through what you did years ago? WK: We have 3 new members now. I'm the only original member of the band left. I can say that what happened it the past, not just the accident.. but everything that happens in your past will teach you something. We like each other though. Everything is alright right now. PI: My next question was are you happy with the current lineup you have, but you kind of answered that.. WK: Yeah, I'm really happy about the new lineup. These guys kick ass. Bad ass people. PI: You're headlining Summer Slaughter this year.. What does that mean to you and the band? WK: I'm proud. It means a lot to me, to be headlining in the US on such a great tour.. Every show is almost sold out. For me, it's great, I'm really happy. Every night I just can't wait to go on stage. It's just great, especially because we have so many great bands playing before us. So it's just an honor to be headlining.

PI: Can you compare the crowd response at shows from here in America and back home? WK: Neither is better.. it's different. The reaction about the venues and everything is different. I like Europe so much but I like to be in the US. I just have a good time anywhere. PI: You've been described as one of Europe's most "outstanding technical death metal bands." What do you feel makes you stand out from other bands in your genre? WK: It just happened.. we like it. PI: What profession could you see yourself in if you were not involved in music? WK: I don't have an idea.. I don't have a fucking idea. Maybe I would be a music teacher. I worked in a music store last year and that's it. All my life, I've just played music so I can't do anything else. Maybe some day if we stopped playing or something happened, I can chose another profession, but I cannot tell you right now. PI: You've toured here in America a few times.. What have you noticed about Americans that pisses you off? WK: Yeah, sometimes when I forget my ID and I want to go to a bar and drink something, it pisses me off. They see that I'm not fucking 15 and they want my ID.. and this pisses me off. You can see that a guy is 55 years old or is 15 years old.. isn't it stupid? Sometimes it's too much, this law and all these police and stuff. We have different laws in Poland.. I think we're more relaxed there. PI: After this tour you're working on a new album, what can we expect from it? WK: I don't know.. I have to write some lyrics with it. You will hear that it's still the same band but maybe a little bit different because it's a different lineup and we chose a different studio and a different producer. PI: Well, thanks for letting us get Plug‟d In! WK: Thanks so much.

Jokes

We apologize if you found any of the jokes to be crude or offensive. We also apologize for you not having any sense of humor and for being so damn uptight. Jeez, they’re only jokes.

There was a man who wanted a pure wife. So he started to attend church to find a woman. He met a gal who seemed nice so he took her home. When they got there, he whips out his manhood and asks "What's this?" She replies "A cock." He thinks to himself that she is not pure enough. A couple of weeks later he meets another gal and soon takes her home. Again, he pulls out his manhood and asks the question. She replies "A cock". He is pissed because she seemed more pure than the first but oh well. A couple of weeks later he meets a gal who seems real pure. She won't go home with him for a long time but eventually he gets her to his house. He whips it out and asks, "What is this?" She giggles and says "A pee-pee" He thinks to himself that he has finally found his woman. They get married but after several months every time she sees his member she giggles and says "That's your pee-pee." He finally breaks down and says "Look this is not a pee-pee, it is a cock." She laughs and says "No it's not, a cock is ten inches long and black. Q. What did one saggy tit say to the other saggy tit? A. If we don't get some support soon, people will think we're nuts! Q. What do you call a gay dinosaur? A. Mega-saur-ass

Reloading the Guns: Exclusive Interview w/ Tracii Guns By: Bandi Budwash Photos from www.myspace.com/traciigunsmusic Tracii Guns is an absolutely magnificent guitarist known from LA Guns, Brides of Destruction, and the early days of Guns N Roses. Watching him wield his weapon of choice onstage is an absolute pleasure. He‟s so full of energy and fun on stage that it‟s hard to see the other members of the band; all eyes are on Tracii. We sat down for a brief chat on the tour bus before he went onstage to wow the crowd at the Whisky Tango in Philadelphia. PI: So how‟s the Triple Threat Tour been going? TG: It started out a little weird. Our very first show, uh, the lady canceled it while we were all setting up and left with all the money. PI: Oh wow. TG: Yeah, so it started out a little weird, and uh, then we had a couple mediocre shows we headed up. Colorado was mediocre, Vegas was uh, well, Vegas was good but there wasn‟t a lot of people there, and then, once we got up to Green Bay, after the first week, all the shows started packing up, and when that happens, things start going really fast, and all the shows start going really good. PI: Why‟d she cancel it? TG: Well, she didn‟t cancel it; she just left with all the money, so I guess we canceled it. So yeah, it started out on a really bad note. PI: Well the next question was any complete disasters, but I guess that would be it. TG: (Laughter) Yeah, that would definitely be the answer to question number two. PI: Who was your inspiration to pick up a guitar? TG: Jimmy Page. I was six years old. Whole Lotta Love. I was sitting in the back of a Porsche 912, that was my mom‟s boyfriend, and I heard the middle section of Whole Lotta Love, there in the middle of all the noise, and I popped my head up and said Mom, I want to do this, and I‟m still trying; I‟m 44 and still trying to do that. PI: Is there a story behind the song Never Enough? (My favorite.) TG: Is there a story behind it? Uh, trying to think. I don‟t think there was a specific relationship for it; Phil wrote the lyrics for that. At the time that was for Cocked and Loaded, so we had a little bit of money and he was probably dating up, you know what I mean? Like, look baby, I‟ve got money. It‟s about trying to please somebody, that‟s for sure, and just falling short, or fuck you, it‟s never enough, you know. PI: I think we‟ve all had one of those. TG: Yeah, that‟s for sure. (Laughter) PI: What are your thoughts on there being two versions of LA Guns? TG: Well there‟s really no version you know what I mean? It‟s like, I have my version of a band that plays LA Guns

songs that I wrote part of all those songs, and then Steve Riley has a version with Phil who wrote the other part of those songs, but to actually have LA Guns, it has to be the five guys that recorded the second record. That‟s what the public perceives as LA Guns. So actually, we‟re just out there playing the songs, I‟m out there playing the songs, and we both call ourselves LA Guns, but we‟re really ripping everybody off because we‟re not really LA Guns. That‟s what I think of it. PI: What are you plans to finish up 2010? TG: Just work. Just playing. I guess it‟s not really work, is it? It‟s work sitting here, you know, all day long, but the playing part‟s not work. It‟s the sitting around that‟s work, so I have a lot of sitting around to do till Christmas. PI: If I looked at your IPod, who would you be listening to right now? TG: Enya. PI: Really? TG: Yeah. PI: Wow. Surprising. TG: It‟s the only good music on my IPod. (Laughter) PI: Are you working on anything new? TG: I‟m always working on stuff, but I don‟t really try to make plans. Taime and I, along with Xristian, Danny and Chad, who are both, those other two guys, Danny and Chad are both in LA Guns and Faster Pussycat, the bass player and drummer, we‟re thinking about next year putting together a new band called Devil, and completely ripping off stuff like Zodiac Mindwarp and Turbonegro and making our own kind of version of just a really fun loud obnoxious rock band. So that‟s a plan, that‟s something I‟d like to do, and then LA Guns, we have new music with Jizzy that we‟re supposed to record because we‟re signed, and it‟s cool to be signed, but I don‟t like pressure. And then I have a cover band called Carnival of Dogs with Franky Perez and Matt Sorum, and Phil Soussan. That band makes the most money, and we don‟t play one original song. So yeah, that‟s my life. Oh, and I have a 20 month old son. Wait, check him out, he‟s bad ass. (Shows me the picture on his Ipad.) PI: Aww, he is adorable. TG: His name is Jagger James Guns. I love him. PI: What do you do to relax? TG: Play with him, which is actually relaxing, cause at the end of every day I am so tired when I‟m home, it‟s amazing. I mean that is, you know, I thought I was in love with my old lady. We‟ve been together for 19 ½ years, and then he was born, and like, you can‟t compare that kind of love with anything. That‟s what love is. I would gladly like, dive in front of a bus for him, like nothing. My girlfriend or wife or whatever, I probably would but I‟d have to think about it for a second, you know what I mean. I discovered what love is a year and a half ago. PI: That‟s a wonderful thing. TG: Yeah, it‟s awesome. And he‟s low maintenance. PI: For now… TG: No, I mean he‟s cool, you know, he just poops and eats, and when he‟s not pooping or eating, he‟s just making me laugh, or being affectionate, you know, it‟s like wow. PI: What did you hope for LA Guns to achieve when you started it? TG: Well, there‟s two times, you know, when I first put LA Guns together, I was in high school, and I wanted to be Led Zeppelin, and obviously we couldn‟t be Led Zeppelin because we were LA Guns, so I failed there. But then when we got signed, I remember this guy, Bob Socorro, who was the guy that signed us, asked me, same question you asked me, “What do you want out of this?” and I told him I just wanted to be around twenty years from now, you know, doing the same thing, so I succeeded at that. So I‟m playing my music, and people are paying me to do it, and uh, but I‟m not Led Zeppelin, so I got half my wish.

PI: You‟ve probably worked with a lot of people who have been on reality shows. If the right offer came along, would you do it? TG: Um, well, like what? I couldn‟t be on Rock of Love or anything like that, no one would try out, but uh, yeah, if the right offer came along, I guess so. I‟m a whore. I can be bought with money. (Laughs) PI: If you look back on your life so far, what‟s your greatest achievement? TG: My son. PI: Other than him? TG: Well, this one time I had Nikki Sixx curled up in the corner of a room, facing the wall, snoring. I brought Nikki Sixx down. (Laughter) No, that‟s a joke. Uh, a long time ago, I created this little band called Guns N Roses that completely destroyed the music industry. That would probably be one of my greatest achievements. And Taime and I have been friends for a long time, that‟s another great achievement. PI: If you could come back as any animal in a next life, what would it be? TG: What‟s your favorite animal? Me: Definitely a wolf. TG: Then I‟d come back as a wolf. Me: Oh really? And why would that be? TG: So you‟d take me in. (Laughter) PI: What would you do for a Klondike Bar? TG: Anything you want me to do. (More laughter) Klondike Bars are good, but you know what‟s even better? (Tracii gets up, goes to the freezer and pulls out a Ben and Jerry‟s Half Baked Bar.) Half Baked bars are really good, oh, and Chipwiches are really good too. PI: Well, thank you Tracii, for letting us get Plug‟d In with you. TG: Of course, anytime you want.

Hell Yeah It Is: Greg Tribett of

HellYeah Interview and Photos By: Nicolle Marie This years 2010 Rockstar UPROAR Festival featured many incredible bands, one of them happening to be one of my all time favorites, HELLYEAH! HellYeah being a sort of super-hybrid band composing different members from Mudvayne, Nothingface, Damageplan, and the legendary Pantera. Before the show even started I had the absolute pleasure of sitting down with HELLYEAH‟s main guitarist Greg Tribbett to do an exclusive interview for Plug'd In. I was kinda nervous at first, but when an opportunity to hang out with one of this year‟s fastest rising crazy southern partying boozin‟ rock & roll bands came my way, I didn‟t just say “ok” or “yes” I said “HELL FUCKIN‟ YEAH! PI: Greg, How‟s UPROAR tour going so far? GT: It‟s going awesome, going great. Hanging out with the bands, Bar-BQ‟in, drinkin, pretty much doin‟ A LOT of partying. PI: How do you feel about the other bands on this tour? GT: Great, I‟ve known them all for a long time. Avenged, Disturbed, Stone Sour, I‟ve know them for like forever. Stone Sour I‟ve known even before they were Slipknot, so yea all awesome guys. Love „em all. PI: Are you promoting your newest album “Stampede “on this tour, or will you have another one dedicated to it? GT: We‟re touring a lot for it right now actually, probably until August 2011. We‟re also going to tour in Japan and Europe, and then going back out in the states next year. PI: How is your new album doing in your opinion? GT: I think its doing great! We have a top 5 single right now “Hell of a Time” and kids are picking it up and giving us much love and support. We appreciate it, all of the support. PI: What‟s the meaning behind your new album‟s title “Stampede”? GT: A Stampede is a bunch of crazy grizzly animals, and everybody calls us the crazy people around here, they all come to us to hang, party, and do crazy shit. So we figured we‟d name the record after, well, ourselves haha. PI: I‟ve heard that you and Chad write most of the songs, is that true? GT: Well yea, Chad writes all the lyrics and I usually come up with the music, it works out good that way. PI: What are the different elements that each band member contributes to the band? GT: Umm, I think we all gel pretty good, even with us all coming from different bands. Me and Chad coming from Mudvayne, which has a completely different feel. And this band is more straight up the middle rock and roll. It‟s pretty much all collective, not one person writes one song. The whole band has a part in it.

PI: So Greg, did you really sell your soul down in Texas on the side of the road? GT: Haha! I think I did that a long time ago. And I know Chad did too, oh definitely he did haha. PI: How does it feel to be in a band with the Legendary Vinnie Paul? GT: Ohhh it‟s pretty amazing! I was always a big Pantera fan, and when this opportunity came along to add him to the band and stuff I was so glad he said yes.. It‟s just yea,.. its awesome. PI: It was just Dimebag‟s birthday a week ago on the 20th. Did you guys do anything special? (Dimebag Darrell being Vinnie Paul‟s brother, killed in 2004) GT: Um we actually just chilled out and let Vinnie have his space for that day. It really, you know, it hits him hard in the heart. PI: I could imagine he‟s still torn up about it, I certainly would be. It was a horrible thing. GT: And every time that day comes, you know when he was killed and on his birthday and stuff, he just needs time alone. And we know, we‟re always here for him. PI: Are you doing to be doing „Thank You” on stage today? I think you should. GT: Well, its not on the list. PI: Ugh do it! You have to! GT: Ahh I would, but it‟s not in our set. PI: Can I write it into the set? GT: Well,..maybe. haha. PI: Being in a band who‟s members were already established in other big bands, who would you say your influences are? GT: Well personally, mine are like Randy Rhoads and Jimmy Page, Led Zeppelin and all that stuff. Van Halen, anything like that. PI: Would you ever consider doing any cover songs from those bands? GT: Yea I would, definitely. And, we‟ve been talking about it. We did do a cover of a Metallica song on our last record “HELLYEAH”. And that came out pretty good. PI: If you were to have a band cover your songs, who would you pick to do so? GT: Ummm wow, that‟s a hard one. Hmm I don‟t now, that‟s a really hard question.. ummm… PI: How about we do it? GT: The two Nicole‟s? Alright, hellyeah, you guys can definitely do it. What song are you gunna cover? It better be “Alcohaulin‟ Ass”! Haha! PI: Yes absolutely we‟ll do Alcohaulin‟ Ass! Haha. PI: Could you ever see yourself doing anything other than music? GT: Nooo! Never ever! I‟d probably shoot myself in the face if I had to do something else. Done! Haha. But no, I do music, that‟s it.

PI: The name of your band HELLYEAH, what does that mean to you? GT: It‟s well… do you know where we got that name? PI: Yea,.. picking suggestions out of the box.. right? GT: Yea exactly, we had people, the band and crew and stuff, write down names and put them in a box, and the first one we picked said HELLYEAH! We loved it and stuck with it. PI: Did you ever find out who wrote that? Anybody take the credit? GT: Nope, never, to this day we still have no idea who wrote it. PI: I read somewhere that the band attributes the name to "late teens, keggers, chicks, AC/DC, and Metallica". Would you say this is accurate? GT: Haha yea definitely, absolutely thats what we‟re about; all of that, partying, straight up that‟s who we are! PI: In your new video “Hell of a Good Time”, things such as stealing a cop car, picking up hot chick hitch-hikers, and drinkin‟ beer are all elements of a good time. What type of things do you need for a good time? GT: Well.. I do all of that, haha. Pick up chicks, steal cop cars, and throw awesome bar-b-q‟s hahah! But always with family and friends, we hang out together at Vinnie‟s house all the time. PI: Do you still record in Vinnie and Dimebag‟s house? GT: Yep. Last record was done at Dimebag‟s place, this last one was at Vinnie‟s house. PI: Wow, lucky guys, how does it feel to be doing that? GT: It‟s awesome, seriously. Vinnie‟s a legend and to be hanging at his house is amazing. I was always a big fan of his, and now I‟m, chilling at his house I‟m thinking like Oh Wow, Oh Jesus, Haha. he has a Crown Royal shaped pool for God sakes haha. It‟s Ethereal man, so awesome. PI: So what‟s next for HELLYEAH? GT: Um, well we‟re going to tour for the next two years, and that‟s pretty much it. A lot of touring. And in 2 years we‟ll have another album out, so more touring for that too. PI: Well Thank you for sittin‟ down and getting Plug‟d In with us Greg! GT: Ah anytime, you‟re welcome, and uhh… HELLYEAH!

On Tour: Interview w/ Telle of The Word Alive Interview and Photos by Liana Marie PI: So let me start out with a question you‟ve probably been asked multiple times... Where is it exactly that “The Word Alive” came from? T: The band or the name? PI: The name. T: The guys just thought it was cool. PI: What genre of music do you consider “The Word Alive” to be; and what are your major influences? T: When people ask, we say we‟re a melodic metal band. I mean we have metal, we have hardcore influences, and we have rock influences and experimental ambient stuff. So we‟re somewhere in between all of those. Influences; like we all have our stuff that we listen to and I think that‟s what makes the meshing process really interesting. I mean some of us listen to heavy bands, and some of us listen to soft bands. I think we‟re just influenced by, as a whole, like wanting to sound different from every band out there. We don‟t want to do stuff that‟s been done. I mean obviously we scream and people scream, we sing people sing, but like as a whole what we do is try to make it unique. So that‟s our biggest influence.. wanting to stand out and i think with our new Cd especially. I feel like we‟ve done that. PI: AWESOME. How long have you guys known each other? T: Zack and Tony have known each other for about 7 years. Tony, Nick, and Zack have known each other, or they‟ve known Nick for I think 5 years. Justin joined the band in January so we‟ve known him since January. I met the guys almost 3 years ago now. They met Dusty when The Word Alive formed in April of 2008. So a couple years. The longest lasting friendships have been Zack and Tony and then Zack, Tony and Nick and then Dusty joined the band, and then I did, and then Justin. PI: How would you describe your latest full length Deceiver? What are your views and opinions on it? T: I mean Im a little bias... but I think it‟s pretty Rad. We tried to write 10 full songs...We wrote 10 songs I feel really stoked about. Each one... I feel like we tried to write 10 strong songs rather than a few good songs and then some fillers. We try to make sure every song is good. PI: Are there any major differences between Empire and Deceiver? If so, what are they? T: Lots. I think it‟s almost like a completely different band. We really matured a lot. We grew together as a band. When we wrote Empire we never toured, where as when we did Deceiver we had been touring for a year straight. I had just joined the band before we wrote Empire where as I‟ve been in the band for almost a year and a half now. Then we got Justin as our new drummer, which took our drumming and technically of the record up several notches. The guys, I mean everybody, just improved at their instruments. And at the same time we just grew closer as a band, so the chemistry was a lot stronger with this album. I think every aspect of Deceiver is ten times better than Empire.

PI: Alright! cool, cool. So what is your favorite song to perform live? T: Either “Epiphany or “2012”. We haven‟t gotten to play all the songs of our album yet because it just came out a couple weeks ago. But we played four, well technically five new songs off the album. We played a song “Like Father Like Son”, at our cd release show that was pretty fun but “2012” is really fun to rock out to and “Epiphany”; getting the kids to sing along and the group vocals and choruses are really fun to watch. PI: What are you guys currently listening to? T: Well on the drive over here from our friend‟s house we had anything from SoilWork to Nickelback to country...I mean none of us really like country but sometimes it comes on and we‟ll listen anyway. We listen to Dubstep, we listen to Tech 9, just a bunch of different things. PI: If you could describe your band as a sit com or television show; what would it be and why? T: Hmm. Probably “Friends.” We have all these people who are so different but when you get them together it just makes this special group. Some people are wacky some people are more serious some people are geeky but the combination of all of us just makes it what it is. PI: Gotcha. What is one of the oddest interview questions you‟ve been asked? T: I‟m trying to think...Uhh Nobody asks too many crazy things, I wish more people did I guess probably something along the lines of a request for crazy stories... They‟ll be like “Oh so any crazy drug stories or stripper hooker stories?” Then we‟re like “No we aren‟t like that actually.” I think people think just cause we‟re a heavy band and we like to have fun that it must mean that we do a bunch of crazy stuff but really we don‟t. We just like to hang out with friends and have a good time. PI: Right on. And what can we expect from “The Word Alive” in the future? T: Constantly touring. We have some huge tours coming up we actually announce a new tour tomorrow. That is the biggest tour we have ever done by far.. Next year we‟re going to be out of the country and seeing the world. So hopefully people keep buying “Deceiver” and that‟ll put us in the position to do a lot of awesome things. PI: Great. Well it was a pleasure chatting and getting to know you and your band. Thanks for getting us Plug‟d In. T: Thank you

Beneath The Massacre “Maree Noire” EP Review It‟s been two years since Beneath the Massacre released their eleven track masterpiece with crushing breakdowns and technical ability that couldn‟t even be touched by Bach himself which was known to the world as, “Dystopia.” After endless tours and countless hours on the road, the band has created five tracks which span over 12 minutes and 54 seconds to showcase their level of skill and brutality to the world. “The Casket You Slept In,” begins with a few quick choppy strokes of the guitar then without warning chaos ensues leaving you virtually speechless while listening to quick sweeps and low tuned chugging. The four piece from Quebec does not disappoint. To be completely honest I was almost expecting less considering, “Maree Noire” is only a five song EP, however the band has matched if not surpassed, “Dystopia.” One of the most notable songs on the record is surprisingly the 43 second, “Drill Baby Drill,” which is simply blistering double bass with dissonant sweeps that that turn into clean sweeps. When they say size doesn‟t matter, they mean it; “Drill baby Drill is probably one of the most well written grindcore songs that I‟ve heard in a long time. Fans fear not because there is just as much grind and hardcore elements that one can fit into five songs. The only difference I‟ve noticed is that it is slightly more melodic than the band‟s previous releases. Perhaps they are experimenting different sounds for a new album in the future. Over all, Beneath the Massacre has made a kick ass record that should be in every metal heads collection. The record was released on September 14 and physical copies of the 7 inch and limited edition digi CD pack are going quickly so make sure you go to http:// store.prostheticrecords.com/ to pick up a copy.
