Jokes

We apologize if you found any of the jokes to be crude or offensive. We also apologize for you not having any sense of humor and for being so damn uptight. Jeez, they’re only jokes.

I was talking to a guy in the line at the store. The conversation got around to wives, and he said he had been widowed three times. I said "Three wives, all dead and buried?" He said "Yes." "What happened to the first one?" "Poison Mushrooms." "What happened to the second one?" "Poison Mushrooms." "And the third?" "Fractured skull." "How did that happen?" "She wouldn't eat the Poison Mushrooms." This couple goes to an agricultural show way out in the countryside a fine Sunday afternoon, and are watching the auctioning off of bulls. The guy selling the bulls announces the first bull to be auctioned off: "A fine specimen, this bull reproduced 60 times last year."The wife nudges her husband in the ribs, and comments, "See! That was more than 5 times a month!" The second bull is to be sold: "Another fine specimen, this wonder reproduced 120 times last year." Again the wife bugs her husband, "Hey, that's some 10 times a month. What do YOU say to that?!" Her husband is getting really annoyed with this comparison. The third bull is up for sale: "And this extraordinary specimen reproduced 360 times last year!" The wife slaps her husband on the arm and yells, "That's once a day, every day of the year! How about YOU?!" The husband was pretty irritated by now, and yells back, "Sure, once a day! But ask the announcer if they were all with the same fat cow!!" An efficiency expert concluded his lecture with a note of caution. "You need to be careful about trying these techniques at home." "Why?" asked somebody from the audience. "I watched my wife's routine at dinner for years," the expert explained. "She made lots of trips between the refrigerator, stove, table and cabinets, often carrying a single item at a time. One day I told her, 'Honey, why don't you try carrying several things at once?' "Did it save time?" the guy in the audience asked. "Actually, yes," replied the expert. "It used to take her 30 minutes to make dinner. Now I do it in ten..." An old man and woman were married for years even though they hated each other. When they had a fight, screams and yelling could be heard deep into the night. A constant statement was heard by the neighbors who feared the man the most... "When I die I will dig my way up and out of the grave to come back and haunt you for the rest of your life!" They believed he practiced black magic and was responsible for missing cats and dogs, and strange sounds at all hours. He was feared and enjoyed the respect it garnished. He died abruptly under strange circumstances and the funeral had a closed casket. After the burial, the wife went straight to the local bar and began to party as if there was no tomorrow. The gaiety of her actions were becoming extreme while her neighbors approached in a group to ask these questions: Are you not afraid? Concerned? Worried? that this man who practiced black magic and stated when he died he would dig his way up and out of the grave to come back and haunt you for the rest of your life? The wife put down her drink and said. . ."Nah... let the old man dig. I had him buried upside down!"

On Tour w/ Brent Smith of Shinedown Interview with Brent Smith of Shinedown Interview and Photos by Curt Ridall Recently sitting down with one of the Worlds top rock artist, in the Heart of the Carnival of Madness tour. We got to talk a little about everything from getting a phone call from Rocky and Rambo in the same day, to successfully touring for nearly 3 straight years promoting the same album and maybe even a little Lady Gaga and Katy Perry. Talking with Brent for the short while I did, made me realize why Shinedown is the superpower in the industry that it is. Beyond Brent‟s genius songwriting and poetry, lies a person with their head on straight. Being nothing but brutally honest and leaving it all on the stage. Why worry about what others are saying, when you can just speak your own mind instead? Passion and desire is the force behind Shinedown, driving full speed ahead. PI: How has Carnival of Madness been treating you so far? Everything you hoped? BS: Yea, Carnival was an idea. It started in January of this year, talking about it. To put it all together it was something where, no matter what we just wanted to make sure we were going to accomplish it and make it happen this summer. These are our best friends we have been touring for 10 years now. We have done many festivals with all of our friends in all the bands. 10 years, Sevendust who we‟ve known forever, Puddle of Mudd, Chevelle, everyone is great. Long story short the idea was to make a real tour that was based on 5 bands instead of 10-15 bands. Instead of doing multiple stages, do one stage and give it all to them. The good stuff right out of the gate, and that‟s what we are doing. There isn‟t really a radio festival that tours, that really ever has been set up like that. You do different markets, different cities, everyone has the festival. Between all 5 bands there are 35 top rock songs. With a band like us, we crossed over on this record. This is really based on a rock tour. For the Carnival, this is the first annual year. It really exceeded expectations. This is a very tough year to tour but we didn‟t care if 500 people showed up or 5,000. Our goal was to pretty much roll over and pretty much annihilate any other tour that was in our way which is basically what we‟re doing. People were scared to put a tour up this summer. They low tickets sales and pulled them back, we didn‟t do that. We believed in the consumer and we believed in the people and we only have one boss and it‟s everyone in the audience. So we believed in the field of dreams mentality, “If you build it they will come”. PI: What are some of the influences you draw your inspirations from? BS: From soul music. Otis Redding, Al Green, Sam Cook, Marvin Gaye, Billy Holiday. On the rock side, Black Sabbath, just the attitude of that, Gun „n‟ Roses, all the grunge era. STP, Pearl

Jam, Sound Garden, Nirvana, Alice In Chains. Country side of things, big Johnny Cash fan, Lucinda Williams. It goes all over the place. I don‟t believe in segregation on any level. I‟m always looking for something different. This year alone I became consumed with Katy Perry and Lady Gaga. It‟s really good pop. All of us in the band are into different things. PI: Do you guys have a lot of time off on this tour? BS: No. It started it was 3 on one day off . We just finished 4 in a row. All together it‟s 40 dates. 33 shows the carnival we have off 9 days altogether. PI: What would you do with those 9 days? BS: Rest. You get business done and take care of things like that but you work out, stay healthy, eat good, stay really really focused. I have a click in my knee going on right now where I kind of pulled myself the wrong way, so any kind of injury that you might sustain make sure that you stay on top of it so that you are able to still run around and give a show. You don‟t want to be out there on a crutch. PI: So you have been out promoting this album for a little while now… BS: 2 ½ years almost. PI: Any new music in the future or do you want to keep pushing The Sound of Madness? BS: This record was written out of pure anger, frustration, love, enlightenment, desire, pain and passion. What it has done is set a template for a lot of other bands about how you are actually supposed to make a record I think. We wrote a song of Sylvester Stallone for his movie The Expendables, called “Diamond Eyes”, that you can get on Itunes. That‟s brand new. We did “Her Name is Alice” for the Alice in Wonderland movie. You can get that on Itunes. That‟s new music. I just finished the video for Apocalyptica for “Not Strong Enough” which they asked me to do, which is going to be coming out in late September. I just finished the video for it. That‟s not Shinedown, but it‟s my voice. There‟s new music that‟s out there. We just did an Itunes session, acoustic specifically for them of songs of The Sound of Madness. As far as a new record it‟s going to be imperative that we finish out this year. Actually our last tour date I believe is Dec 11 of the actual physical touring for The Sound of Madness, and then we are done. That will solidify almost 3 years of touring since the records been released, and that‟s the goal we had. And possibly find out in the next few weeks if they are going to be releasing a 6′th single off The Sound of Madness, which is kind of unheard of in this day and age. The thing is, we didn‟t write a record with any filler, so it took a long time. It became an 18 month process, to almost 2 years where the band was gone. The band was already gone for two years to begin with. We had our senior release party in the fall in Phar, Texas. You could have thrown a rock and were in a different country. I only cared about who came out but I remember

we played our cd release for about 100 people. You have to work for it. You have to build back up to what you once had before, and what we actually did was made the band stronger by going away. There were a lot of changes but if you were to ask me now where I feel that this band stands, the amount of integrity that has been set in stone with us, now I think over-shadows anything that had any precedence beforehand. This is who Shinedown is, this is who we have become. This is what we strive to be on a daily basis. We are a very honest band, we aren‟t going to sugar coat anything for you. It is the way that it is and if we don‟t like it we will change it to where we do like it. We aren‟t a finger pointing band. A lot of people point fingers at us and have their opinions, but we are in a free country so that‟s how that works, and thank god we are. We‟ve never been the band that focuses on what people say about us. All we know is to stay true to who we are and the people that do appreciate us, the people that are here tonight, those are the only people we care about… point blank. PI: Where do you want to be in a year? BS: In a year we will be recording a record. I want to be writing the greatest songs ever written, that‟s where I want to be in a year. Writing better songs, pushing ourselves harder than we have ever been pushed before, watching my son grow up. PI: If you could throw a bbq and invite anyone you wanted, who would it be? BS: I‟m not a good bbq‟er, just to let you know. I‟m not a good party thrower. PI: You said you‟re honest, is there anything you don‟t like being asked or don‟t like talking about? BS No, you can ask me anything, I‟m not biased. Whatever you want to throw at me I‟m good with it. I guess the only thing I don‟t like is I don‟t like giving up. I don‟t like someone to give up, that‟s my biggest pet peeve. There are so many other things you can do, other than give up. That is kind of my whole theory about everything. The human spirit is an amazing thing. I‟ve always thought the will to live will always outweigh the ability to die so I‟m not really into people that give up. PI: Do you have any vices? BS: I wish I wouldn‟t look at myself in the mirror and go “tomorrow I‟m going to work out‟”, and then I wake up and go “I‟ve got too much to do I don‟t have time‟”. I wish I worked out when I said I was gonna work out. PI: Do you have any other pet peeves on the road or things you don‟t like people really doing? BS: The thing about the road is you have to adapt. You‟re in a different place everyday so if you can‟t adapt this isn‟t a place for you. It‟s the same kind of idea everyday, but you are still in a different environment everyday. Anybody that‟s on the tour, don‟t get out there an act like an idiot. Don‟t go out and embarrass yourself, you won‟t hinder me, I will get up there and do my thing. Have a good show, I always want people to have a good show.

PI: Where did The Carnival of Madness name come from? BS: The Carnival came from Bill Mcgathy and Tony C. It was kind of a tip of the hat to us by calling it The Carnival of Madness, from this record that had become very successful and we were headlining it. All 5 bands are managed by Bill Mcgathy. We were even asked about what would be next. We will be making a record and there will be a different headliner next year. This is the first annual year. This is probably one of the worst touring seasons in the past 5 years, as far as the way the bands are going out and everything like that. It will get better. The thing is that next year The Carnival will probably have elephants and fire breathers and all kinds of crazy stuff, but you still have to have the first one. What we really built this around is the music and the show and really coming out and giving people something that they quite frankly weren‟t expecting. PI: What is your favorite song to play live? BS: “Diamond Eyes” is fun to play live. The Expendables song for Sylvester Stallone that we wrote. There‟s a lot of new stuff that people haven‟t heard. Our set, we play the singles but we got stuff in there for die head real Shinedown fans. We welcome the new fans, but the new fans only know this record. PI: You did a song for Alice in Wonderland. Did you see the movie? BS: I did, I saw the premiere. I thought it was Tim Burton to the hill. I thought it was great. PI: The new Stallone film… do you know anything about the movie? BS: I know everything about the movie. PI: Do you want to talk a little bit about it? BS: I don‟t want to give it away. It‟s great. He called us up and asked us to write a song for him. He was very proactive and laid out how and what kind of style of music he wanted. He wrote, directed, produced, and starred in the movie. He asked us to write him a theme song for the greatest action film of all time. He invited us to his studio while he was editing and putting the song into the movie and showing us sections where he was going to use it. It was super super cool. He was great. It‟s not every day you get a phone call from Rocky and Rambo at the same time. PI: Anything you can‟t live without on the road? BS: I love my freedom so, I can‟t live without that. To be able to do what it is we do, without that, we really don‟t have anything. PI: Thank for keep everyone Plug‟d In BS: Thanks, my pleasure.

Ozzfest Recap w/ special guest writer Pearl Oliver OzzFest 2010 Camden, New Jersey Review and Photos submitted by: Pearl Oliver OzzFest 2010 was awesome. It started out on a rainy note with a couple of bands I haven‟t heard before. Skeleton Witch, Goat Whore, and Katakalysm all rocked the stage. However, when Kingdom of Sorrow came out the whole crowd broke out into a huge mosh pit. I had the pleasure of meeting the guys from Katakalysm which was really great. After Savior finished rockin‟ out Drowning Pool came out, and as soon as they started to play “Bodies” it just poured down rain. The rain caused Black Label Society not to play, which was a real disappointment. The Main Stage bands rocked out as well. Nonpoint and Devil Driver put on a couple of excellent sets. Rob Halford & the Halford Band rocked out a lot of good songs. Following his great set was Motley Crue with a great set. They played a whole set of great songs accompanied by amazing pyrotechnics. Last but certainly not least was The Prince of Darkness himself. Ozzy‟s set started out with his spoofs of everything from Avatar, Twilight, Jersey Shore, and Iron Man! As usual you never know what to expect from Ozzy! While he was playing “Crazy Train” he brought out, 9 year old guitar genius, Yuto Miyazawa from China who just stole the show! All in all to sum up the concert, everything was awesome. You had it all…… bands, painted ladies, and even an indoor freak show! It was a really great show rain and all!

Gettin’ Metal w/ Scottie Henry of Norma Jean Interview with Scottie Henry of Norma Jean Interview and Photos by Nicole Stella At this years Mayhem Fest, I got the opportunity to sit down with Scottie Henry and Chris Day of Norma Jean following their high energy performance. The band has played Warped Tour and Ozzfest in addition to many other large festivals, so they seemed to not think anything of playing such a large tour. Scottie was eager to talked and opened right up. Here's what he had to say. PI: Why did you decide to change the band name from Luti-Kriss to Norma Jean? SH: We didn't like the name forever, and then when a rapper from the same town as us started getting big, we used it as a chance to change it. PI: Who had the name first? SH: I don't know when he started, but he got huge right away. I don't know how long he was rapping before that though. We didn't hear about him until right before we changed our name, so I don't know who had it first. PI: Are you aware that there is a circus elephant named Norma Jean that was struck by lightning and is now buried and marked by a memorial in the state of Illinois? SH: I had no idea, no. PI: Would you ever write a song about this Norma Jean? SH: Yeah probably, sure. I wouldn't have a problem with that. PI: You guys have had a number of lineup changes in the past, do you feel your current lineup is the most stable? SH: Yes, definitely. Things have been amazing. This lineup is here to stay. PI: The artwork for your second album 'O God, The Aftermath,' done by Ryan Clark was nominated for Best Recording Package at the 2006 Grammy Awards. Have you or do you plan to work with him again for any future albums? SH: Maybe. I mean, we haven't planned on it or anything, but he's a great dude and he does amazing work, so sure. We could possibly use him again in the future. PI: How do you feel about the other bands you're playing with on Mayhem? SH: I like them. We've been friends with a lot of the bands on this tour for a while now so it's been fun doing this tour and getting to hang out every day.

PI: You're touring soon with Architects in the UK. If you could pick any country to play in, what would it be? SH: I love playing Australia, it's amazing. We went there once and it was somewhere I've always wanted to go so I'd love to go back there. PI: Is there anywhere you haven't been yet that you aspire to go to? SH: We haven't been to Hawaii, that would be awesome. Haven't been to Africa or South America either so that would be awesome. PI: If you could pick any song by a boy band to cover, which song would it be? And don't lie and say that you don't know any, because we know you do. SH: The one I'm thinking of has the video with the dolls. PI: „Bye Bye Bye‟ by Nysnc? Scottie: Yeah, I like that one. Well I don't LIKE that one.. but I'll pick it... Okay, I like it. PI: If you could pick 5 members from any band to make an ultimate band, who would you pick? SH: Adam Jones from Tool would be the guitar player. I want to be in it as well, I want to be a part of this. I'd probably take the singer of Tool, as well. And on bass would be Les Claypool from Primus. PI: When Mayhem Fest ends, what are your plans as a band? Can you give us any insight to new music or ideas? SH: I'm gonna lay in my bed for a while when I get home.. Probably take a shower. PI: Music? SH: Musically, we're doing nothing until that Architects tour. We're doing that for two weeks in October with them in the UK, then we're going to do a headliner back here in the states in November/ December. PI: Thanks for talking to us and giving us a chance to get Plug‟d In. SH: Awesome, thank you for having me!

The Breakdown W/ Bandi Great White at The Silo, Friday, August 20th, put on by Driving Metal Entertainment Booking. By: Bandi Budwash Photos: Mike Demos I arrived at The Silo just as Midnight Decadence was taking the stage. They rocked out an amazing set. For such a young band, their performance easily rivaled those that have been doing it as long as they were alive. Their songs are so full of energy and fun. They are an absolute blast to watch. Their guitar pieces were incredible, the bass blended in well, and the drums weren‟t too overpowering, but held everything together. Midnight Decadence is a band that can cross the generations, both older and younger fans screaming out in the crowd. Scary Monster had a good set. Their songs were a good blend of heavy rock out songs and a few slower ballads. The vocals were good, and there was a good energy in the band. They definitely reminded me of when hair metal was at its peak. Paparazzi really got the crowd warmed up for the headlining act. They did a set list containing hits from the 80‟s and 90‟s. The crowd was dancing and singing along to all their favorite songs. They did a great job, but in my opinion, there will always be a few songs that should never be covered. It‟s like trying to remake a classic. Some things should be left untouched. Great White hit the stage with the crowd screaming. I was only familiar with a few of their hits, but they put on a good show. I had heard the show announced on the radio station Y102 a few times, so the turnout was pretty decent. They played through their hits such as Once Bitten Twice Shy, Mista Bone, House of Broken Love, Call it Rock & Roll, and Save Your Love. A few days earlier, original singer Jack Russel was hospitalized for surgery, so they had replaced him with Terry Ilous of XYZ to fill in on the tour. I think he did a great job considering he only had a day or so to practice. It amazes me how they can do that. Do they have someone on standby just in case something like that would happen? Or is it a last minute panic and cram to learn all the songs? That‟s next on my list to find out…. It was a good show, and to any of the opening bands that I didn‟t make it in time for, drop me an email with your schedule and I‟ll make it out to see you. Keep on rocking the town.

Stuff Your Face w/ Sol Spyro Gyro’s Review and Photo’s by Sol Santiago Ok, fellow Plug‟d In readers, we are gonna try something new. A food review section. Its not just a food column section, it‟s a kick ass review of some of the best and coolest places in Central Pa where you can grab a decent bite to eat. So, if you decide to take your date somewhere besides McDonalds you have some good alternatives. Not to mention you can pretend it was all your idea! If your ever in the Lancaster area or lucky enough to live in it, you need to hit up Spyro Gyros on 241 N. Queen street. It‟s a Greek restaurant very cozy, artsy place one of those places you instantly feel comfortable in. I Just went there for the first time I am so upset! I‟ve been missing out on the best Gyros ever! Mike and I decided to check it out for our date night and we were blown away! Their Food is mainly authentic Greek food, which by the way is reasonably priced a date could set you back about 20-30 bills. We both decided to eat an authentic Gyro. It had huge chunks of lamb and beef, mixed greens, tomatoes and onions with this killer tzatziki sauce that just made the gyro slammin! We had to try as much food as humanly possible! So we also ordered a hummus Platter, which was also a vegan platter. They have plenty of vegetarian options too! Mike of course had to order bacon cheese fries (typical male). They had huge chunks of bacon on it by the way. They had all kinds of authentic things on their menu hard to choose from. The Abolemano soup was a good hit. It‟s a chicken lemon herb soup, a blend of different and familiar at the same time. To end our meal we ordered a coffee which was very potent! We were up all night long with fun nocturnal activities to keep us occupied ;) But back to the matter at hand, if you‟re tired of the same old same old come out to Spyro Gyro, live a little, try something new, and support small businesses at the same time! If you know of any great places to eat that you want to share with the rest of us send us a line! Maybe it will appear in our next review! Mike and I will have fun checking out the local food scene when we are not interviewing rock stars!!!!

The Devil Wears Prada Miss May I & Your Demise 8-27-10 Crocodile Rock Cafe, Allentown Pa Show review and Photos by: Liana Marie The Back to Roots show at the Crocodile Rock, in Allentown, Pa on 8/27/10 was insane to say the least. It showcased The Devil Wears Prada, Miss may I & Your Demise. We interviewed TDWP Members Mike Hranica; lead vox and Jeremy DePoyster; rhythm guitar/vox. They were incredibly kind and gave us a very interesting interview. Stay tuned for details on that! TDWP played the smaller stage rather than upstairs to go with their “Back to the Roots” theme. It was them taking some time to revisit the foundation where they came from. A tour that helps them appreciate all of the progress they have made from the beginning until now. The Croc. fortunately, or so we thought, blessed us with barricades. Little did we know once the crowd got started everyone would need to hold them in place. Ed; lead vox and guitarist of Your Demise had some crazy jumps. Your Demise was a remarkable live performer. After Your Demise finished their set, Miss May I continued the show. Their energy was ridiculous, and they sounded fantastic. They really brought a wild crowd. After Miss May I, The Devil Wears Prada got up and tore up the stage. I can‟t even begin to say how amazing their set was. Again, incredible energy and stage performance but who would expect less from these guys? Once the Show ended I ended up hanging out w/ Levi of Miss May I, in Mama Crocs Pizza shop. We talked about the tour and how this tour “Back to the Roots”, has been their longest tour so far. [Over 80 days].

09/13/10

I could probably write for hours about how awesome this show was...But it‟s probably a good idea you stay awake long enough to enjoy the rest of the issue. It was fun chatting about the show. Make sure to stay Plug‟d In & I‟ll Catch ya later.

Our Mission is simple. We want to fill your brain with so much crap that eventually you will suffer from what we like to call “Plug’d In Overload”. Once you have been mentally disabled, we will then proceed to take over what’s left of your mushy, incapacitated brains. In essence, you will be mindless robots...answering our every command. We will then Pillage and Plunder all of Central Pa with reckless abandon. There will be no stopping this! We also want to provide effective and affordable advertising to the businesses' and people that make this community so great. We want to shine a light on the amazing rock/metal scene here in Central Pa. and give the bands a chance to get their music heard and have the opportunity to network with other bands, promoters, venues, and music labels across the Region and the County

Welcome Sol, Liana, and Justin to the Plug’d In family!
