On-demand WEBINAR https://centralstar.info/milkpregnancywebinar42022
Eliminate the labor pains of pregnancy checks Routine pregnancy checks are necessary, but a pain due to time and labor. Learn how milk-pregnancy testing reduces and removes time and labor pains, while keeping your herd’s reproductive performance on track. Watch the webinar to learn • How the test can work in your farm’s setup; • How to incorporate it with an established-veterinarian schedule; • How to use it in absence of routine vet checks; • The science behind it; and • How other producers have implemented it on their farms. More than 4 million milk pregnancy tests are performed annually across North America. Its popularity in use at CentralStar continues to grow as it can easily be performed on samples collected through routine DHI, as well those sent direct to a CentralStar laboratory. Brad Warmka, Dairy Manager at Brickstead Dairy LLC in Greenleaf, Wisconsin, is one of many producers that value the convenience of confirming pregnancy through routine DHI samples.
“Milk pregnancy testing saves time and labor compared to sorting cows for the veterinarian,” said Bard. “We use the test for P2 verifications at roughly 160-180 days carried calf (DCC). That is the last check we do before dry off, and it has been working well so far with no open cows in the dry lot. I appreciate that our DHI technician, Rick Huth, does all the work. Once we established the DCC range we wanted to check, Rick took care of the rest. He creates the animal list and submits the samples to the lab every month, with no extra work on my part. I believe the test is accurate and very efficient, even entering the results into DairyComp only takes a few minutes as soon as I receive them from the lab.” To learn more about how to incorporate milk pregnancy testing into your reproduction program, talk to your DHI Specialist or contact Michelle Kaufmann, Customer Solutions Advisor at michelle.kaufmann@mycentralstar.com.
