Description of the role:

Under the direction of the Centre for Entrepreneurship (CfE) Engagement Officer, Student Team Leader and management team, you will be leading on and creating design assets whilst being a strong advocate and assisting in the promotion and running of the CfE’s wide-ranging programme of events and activities We are looking to appoint one Student Design Officer.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

• Creating innovative design and artwork concepts for new marketing materials such as social media graphics, print advertising, promotional videos and longer-form print event booklets etc.

• Developing new and innovative ways to style and communicate the Centre for Entrepreneurship’s activities whilst utilising the University of Dundee brand guidelines

• Becoming familiar with the events in the CfE calendar early on, and effectively planning the assignment time to work on important CfE events so as to not clash with university and extra-curricular work

• Ensuring that important items such as banners, roller stands, brochures and leaflets are planned, produced and available well in advance of when they are required

• Taking an active role in creating social media assets such as graphics and applying your creativity to add value to CfE’s social media in order to further promote events

• Working with the Student Digital Marketing Officer to enhance the CfE’s online engagement.

Other responsibilities, as a member of the student team, include:

• Assisting in marketing efforts, including distributing flyers and posters (digital or print) around campus, participating in stalls, utilising social media and delivering class shout outs

• Embracing Microsoft teams and planner software, communication and file sharing platform(s)

• Taking ownership of one or more University of Dundee Schools (but not limited to) to engage with the student, staff and alumni population via stalls, societies, class representatives, school presidents – being responsible for uptake from assigned schools with CfE events e.g., number of applicants, registrations, and attendance. Specifically, Masterclasses, Enterprise Challenge, Venture and Entrepreneurship Week.

• Establishing unique and creative ways to further promote the CfE’s programme of events to the allocated Schools.

• Getting involved in the Centre’s social media presence through content creation and understanding the value of maintaining social media engagement.

• Being involved in the running of particular CfE talks and events.

We are looking for a student design officer to:

• Be highly proficient in Adobe Creative Suite, specifically including InDesign, Photoshop, Premiere and Illustrator

• Have experience with photo and video editing

• Understand the production process of digital and print marketing materials including resolution, dimensions, file size and colour schemes

• The ability to proof-read effectively to produce accurate and high-quality work

• Be experienced with photography

Job Title: Student Design Officer

• Manage their time effectively, being able to effectively balance their CfE responsibilities whilst prioritising their studies at the university

We are looking for members of the student team to:

• Show a willingness to become a strong advocate for the CfE specifically in engaging with lecturers and students for class shout out purposes to increase awareness and engagement

• Demonstrate initiative - being able to think on their feet

• Be proactive in promoting all Centre for Entrepreneurship and collaborator events

• Be enthusiastic and self-motivated

• Demonstrate strong organisational skills

• Be comfortable with regularly using social media in a professional environment, particularly Instagram, LinkedIn, Facebook, and Twitter

• Be confident in interacting with people from various backgrounds including the general public

• Be able to work as a member of a team or individually

• Have excellent communication skills and interpersonal skills

• Working in-house to achieve critical deadlines

• Have a demonstrated interest in enterprise and entrepreneurship.

Hours / rate of pay:

The Student Design Officer is expected to work approximately 13 hours per week (usually Monday – Friday with some requirement for evening and weekend work) with an element of flexibility to fit in with university classes. The role will span from the 11th of September – April 2024 during semester time only. The rate of pay is £10.42 - £13.64 per hour and will be paid on a monthly basis.

We are looking to appoint one Student Digital Marketing Officer

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

• Creating engaging digital content for social media (specifically Instagram, LinkedIn, Twitter, and Facebook) and other digital platform such as TikTok

• Managing social media posts and utilising the social media scheduling tool Buffer to create content in advance and ensure a continuous stream of time-appropriate content

• Supporting the Team Leader in developing a social media strategy for the CfE events calendar for the academic year

• Ensuring that the activities organised or hosted by the CfE are captured and translated into positive marketing messages e.g. pictures, Microsoft Teams video interviews and print material

• Collaborating with regular CfE contributors such as Elevator, Converge, Scottish Edge, as well as internal departments and student societies, in order to promote joint initiatives such as Elevator’s accelerator programme, entrepreneurial workshops, training and funding competitions and strengthening relationships and exposure through cross-promotion

• Adhering to and executing allocated tasks from the CfE’s communications plan to ensure effective promotion of the Centre’s activities and events

• Building a social media report twice a semester analysing strategy and statistics from CfE’s various channels

• Forming a social media image bank of edited and high-quality pictures throughout the university year as a useful resource for non-specific content creation

• Ensuring large events are captured and documented through engaging means such as edited videos, and in a timely manner.

Other responsibilities, as a member of the student team, include:

• Embracing Microsoft team and planner software, communication, and file-sharing platform(s)

• Taking ownership of two or more University of Dundee Schools (but not limited to) to engage with the student, staff and alumni population via stalls, societies, class representatives, school presidents – being responsible for uptake with CfE events e.g., number of applicants, registrations, and attendance. Under the direction of the Centre for Entrepreneurship (CfE) Engagement Officer, Student Team Leader and management team, being a strong advocate and assisting in the promotion and running of the CfE’s wide-ranging programme of events and activities. We are looking to appoint one Student Promotion and Live Events Officer. Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

• Taking a lead in the coordination and roll-out of all promotion and traditional marketing efforts for the Centre, including the:

o Development of a plan to effectively market the Centre’s activities via extensive class shout outs working with lecturers across the university schools (either in person or virtually)

o Engaging with appropriate societies, class representatives and school presidents to identify opportunities to promote CfE activities.

o For specific events and times of the year oversee a process to manage the distribution of print/digital flyers and posters around campus and to appropriate external collaborators by assigning other team members and themselves to their school and building specifically for distribution.

o Planning and execution of stalls (either in person or virtually) at appropriate locations on campus such as Schools, DUSA, the Library and Learning Centre and Careers/Fresher Fayres etc. – including identifying unique promotional materials that will engage audiences interested in the centre.

• Communicating with key internal contacts to ensure the digital message is distributed i.e., screen ads and our events as per the Centre’s communications plans and identifying new contacts through networking and research

• Ensuring that the activities that are being run by CfE are captured and translated into positive marketing messages e.g. pictures, video interviews and print material

• Managing PR and marketing relationships with DUSA, the Library and Learning Centre, Careers, Student Services, Research and Innovations Services and the University Enterprise Leads from each School.

• Co-operating with the Team Leader to carry out live event logistics for events such as Masterclasses, Entrepreneurship Week, and the Venture Competition.

• Reporting and analysing the effectiveness of marketing messages then working with Digital Marketing and Team Leader to adjust the marketing strategy accordingly

• Assisting in the organising and promotion of CfE events including creating Eventbrite ticket pages, researching speakers, and creating event-specific promotional content

Other responsibilities, as a member of the student team, include:

• Adhering to and executing allocated tasks from the CfE’s communications plan to ensure effective promotion of the Centre’s activities and events.

• Embracing Microsoft team and planner software, communication and file sharing platform(s)

• Taking ownership of two or more University of Dundee Schools (but not limited to) to engage with the student, staff and alumni population via stalls, societies, class representatives, school presidents - being responsible for uptake with CfE events e.g. number of applicants, registrations and attendance. We are looking for a Student Promotion and Live Events Officer to:

• Be experienced in PR and traditional marketing

• Be experienced in the running, promotion, and marketing of events

• Have an interest in interviewing high-profile speakers and creating longer-form content

• Have excellent communication and interpersonal skills – having proven ability to build a rapport and to be able to spot opportunities to effectively encourage individuals and organisations to assist in the promotion and marketing of a clear message

• Possess extensive knowledge of the University campus and the role of each building.

• Show a willingness to become a strong advocate for the CfE specifically in engaging with lecturers and students for class shout out purposes to increase awareness and engagement

• Be proactive in promoting all Centre for Entrepreneurship and collaborator events

• With student-considered dates and times given well in advance, make availability for the majority of CfE events

• Have some experience in photography, and photo and video editing

We are looking to appoint two Student Workshop and Engagement Officers.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

• Actively running the Enterprise Challenge. This includes but is not limited to, engaging with speakers, introducing workshops, communicating with participants, organising potential social events as well as the final, and showcasing the events on social media, well in advance

• Plan logistics of workshops well in advance and execute these plans without unnecessary deviation

• Ensuring that the Enterprise Challenge has the required number of applicants by monitoring progress leading up to each appropriate deadline and taking appropriate actions to increase numbers where/when required alongside the student team

• Ensuring that joint workshops and events with key Collaborators such as Elevator, Converge Challenge, Scottish Edge etc. are organised and promoted effectively

• Offering continuous support and assistance to participants on the Enterprise Challenge

• Ensure feedback is collected during the programme and analysing the effectiveness of different aspects of the course.

Other responsibilities, as a member of the student team, include:

• Demonstrate strong organisational skills – with the ability to establish planning checklists, process improvement and an understanding of how to improve tasks that they and the team undertake

• Have proven event management skills – specifically promotion, logistics and planning

• Be aware of and adhere to the appropriate data protection policies around GDPR and respecting confidential information at all times

• Understand how to maximise engagement with a social media audience.

• Make availability for important events in the CfE calendar.

Under the direction of the Centre for Entrepreneurship (CfE) Engagement Officer and management team, organising team logistics and taking a leading role in the running of CfE events and coordination of the student team whilst being a strong advocate and assisting in the promotion and running of the CfE’s wide-ranging programme of events and activities. We are looking to appoint one Student Team Leader

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

• Working closely with the CfE Engagement Officer to organise and ensure tasks are being completed by themselves and the wider CfE team (devising a method of operation involving Microsoft teams and planner software) on time and to a high standard

• Assisting in the organisation and delivery of the Centre’s flagship events and programmes (Entrepreneurship Week, Venture, Enterprise Challenge)

• Developing a social media strategy, in coordination with the Digital Marketing Officer, for the CfE events calendar for the academic year

• Embracing Microsoft Teams and planner software, CRM software (Gecko), mailing list (Campaign Monitor), communication and file sharing platform(s) as well as assisting in the updating of the CfE’s website by communicating with Web Services – specifically ensuring that all CfE events are effectively marketed within this channel

• Working closely with CfE collaborators such as Elevator, Converge, Scottish Edge etc in order to promote joint initiatives such as Elevator’s accelerator programme, entrepreneurial workshops, training and funding competitions

• Deputising for the CfE Engagement Officer when required for essential tasks for the running of the Centre e.g., minute taking, room booking and communication with speakers.

• Working closely with the CfE Engagement Officer in the management of the student team and leading on responsibilities such as chairing team meetings, delegatingtasks, and monitoring the progress of the comms plan

• Managing social media posts using Buffer, in accordance with the Student Digital Marketing Officer

• Being the main presence on the Centre’s LinkedIn which includes the growth of the entrepreneurial network, documenting the Centre’s activities whilst crediting the work of collaborators, and maximising the exposure of external opportunities.

Other responsibilities, as a member of the student team, include:

• Taking ownership of one or more University of Dundee Schools (but not limited to) to engage with the student, staff and alumni population via stalls, societies, class representatives, school presidents.

• Be able to use own initiative to diligently implement the CfE communications plan whilst identifying and resolving areas that are not delivering the required impact in terms of engagement with the Centre’s activities

• Demonstrate strong organisational skills – with the ability to establish planning checklists, process improvement and an understanding of how to improve tasks that they and teams undertake

• Be aware of and adhere to the appropriate data protection policies around GDPR and respecting confidential information at all times

• Be enthusiastic to assist and develop other team members

• Show a keenness to understand their working environment and proactively suggest ways of improving existing processes.
