rather than just one structured meeting per week.” Francis Chan Multiply: Disciples Making Disciples
Two are better than one, because they have a good reward for their toil. For if they fall, one will lift up his fellow. But woe to him who is alone when he falls and has not another to lift him up! Again, if two lie together, they keep warm, but how can one keep warm alone? And though a man might prevail against one who is alone, two will withstand him—a threefold cord is not quickly broken. Ecclesiastes 4:9-12

introduction Thank you for checking out The Compass, CPC’s Discipleship Directory for LifeGroups and Ministries. The Compass is your guide to help give you direction in your spiritual journey. Throughout the pages you will see very practical ways you can grow as a disciple of Jesus. We don’t just grow as disciples by obtaining information but we also grow by serving and getting involved in the life and mission of the local body. In the pages to follow you will see information on our LifeGroups along with our ministry teams. These are practical and tangible ways to get plugged in at CPC. To quote my friend and former pastor, Mark Batterson, “Most Christians are educated way beyond the level of their obedience already! We don’t need to know more, we need to do more with what we know.” As we think about discipleship, two things come to mind. First, discipleship is not linear or one-size fits all. I know for people who want to get from point A to point Z that this could be tough and even confusing. But I believe we all have different learning styles, we all have different ways we grow in our faith and we are all at different stages of our faith and spiritual journey. Second, discipleship is not about information as much as it is about application and experience. Let us look at the original 12 disciples, most of their training was hands on. They experienced and watched what their Rabbi and teacher, Jesus, did. My hope is that at CPC as we lead people in this adventure of the Christian faith we are tour guides and not travel agents. There is a huge difference between being a travel agent and a tour guide. Travel agents sit in the climate-controlled comfort of an office, sit behind a desk, and give you brochures telling you where to go, how to get there, what to do once you’re there, and what you might see along the way. They may or may not have even been there before.
Tour guides are different. They lace up their hiking boots, strap on the pack, and go on the journey with you. Tour guides have trekked the path before and can interpret the path for you along the way. They don’t just warn you of possible dangers; they help you walk through them. Good disciple-makers are tour guides who see the hand of God at work in a person’s life and point it out. In 2 Timothy 1:5, Paul acknowledges the influence of Timothy’s mother and grandmother in the development of his faith. Paul saw the hand of God and helped Timothy understand his spiritual history. Paul also used examples from everyday life—athletes, soldiers, and farmers—to describe the work that Timothy was called to do. People who leave legacies are able to make the simple things profound and the complex things simple. They see the hand of God in a person’s life and point it out to them and help them understand how God is at work in their lives. And they see the simple things in life and use them to paint pictures of our complex calling in God. What does this mean practically? We can’t just talk about prayer in our LifeGroups; we’ve got to pray with people. We can’t just complete a workbook on serving our community; we’ve got to get out there and serve. We can’t just explain to someone the best way to lead a group; we’ve got to lead alongside them. So my hope is that you would use The Compass to guide you around the discipleship map and that you would become a life-long seeker of God, learner of His truth and ways, investor in His kingdom, and influencer of culture. Enjoy the adventure as you chart the course for your spiritual journey. Many Blessings,
Chris Jarrell
Director of Discipleship

How & WhY: Jesus never meant for church to become synonymous with a building, or an event, or an organization. It is a group of people joined together in a common experience, a relationship with Christ, and a common mission—to share that relationship with the world. In other words, the church is a community on a mission. The best way to become a part of the community and mission here at CPC is to join a LifeGroup and join a Ministry Team. The Compass will help you find the direction you want to go.
RHYTHM All of our LifeGroups operate on a semester system. You don’t have to commit to one group for eternity. The Compass lists the groups that are open to new folks this semester. At the end of the semester, you can choose to remain with that group or try a different one.
RELATIONSHIPS We believe that community and spiritual growth happen best around shared interests and passions. In The Compass, you will find a wide variety of groups – from Bible studies and core discipleship groups to service groups and interest groups. Regardless of the focus, each group’s ultimate purpose is to create a place where participants can connect with God and connect with each other.
GROWTH LifeGroups help us grow as seekers of God’s heart, learners of His truth, influencers of culture, and investors in His kingdom. We believe that continuing to grow in these four areas - seeking, learning, influencing and investing - is what it means to be Jesus’ disciple. I encourage you to look at the Discipleship Map and consider where you most need to grow. Allow God, through the Holy Spirit, to chart your course on this discipleship journey. God didn’t create us to do life alone. He created us for community. We pray that The Compass would not just be a list of meeting times and topics but an invitation into the story and adventure of God in a deeper way. As you look through the listings, pray that the Holy Spirit would direct your path to the right place where you can grow in your faith with others.

LIFEGROUPS AT CENTREVILLE PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH PROVIDES
1
A place to connect.
It is easy to feel alone in a crowd. LifeGroups are an open door into the life of our church family. When you are in a LifeGroup, you experience the love and strength of biblical community. Without relational connection, the church isn’t the church. The church isn’t a building to be occupied by people once a week. You don’t believe that, and neither do I. The church is us, the people. We are the ones for whom Christ died. Not our buildings. Not our hymnals. Not our comfy chairs. It’s the people who are the church. And without relational connection, you don’t have a church. As LifeGroups we share life together. Sharing life together means you belong to a group of people you know you can count on and who can count on you, no matter what struggles you face. These kinds of relationships won’t happen during a worship service. “And let us consider how to stir up one another to love and good works, not neglecting to meet together, as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another, and all the more as you see the Day drawing near.” Hebrews 10:24-25 ESV
2
3 THINGS:
A place to protect.
Imagine someone you can call when you’re discouraged, someone to pray with when you are doubting, and someone who can teach you more about what God is like. Imagine a loving community of people who notice when you are away; gently sharpen you when you need it, and who help you share your faith with others. LifeGroups are a place where you are protected and supported. “By this we know love, that he laid down his life for us, and we ought to lay down our lives for the brothers.” 1 John 3:16 ESV
3
A place to grow.
LifeGroups are a place you can be equipped to become more like Jesus and to live a faith-filled life. We believe that every person is created with God-given potential to make a difference in the world. LifeGroups are a place where there are like-minded people who believe in you. This is how leaders are developed. We want to see you grow, flourish, and become all that God has called you to be! “Iron sharpens iron, and one man sharpens another.” Proverbs 27:17 ESV
We believe LifeGroups are essential to our vision and where we are headed as a church. Why are Life Groups so important here at CPC?
1 2 3 4 5
Bible Study – We need people to strengthen and balance the Word of God in our life. Connection – We need people who really know us. Prayer – We need people to pray for us personally. Support – We need people to protect us. Outreach – We need people with whom we can share our story.
Because LifeGroups are so important to us, it is our desire to see everyone at CPC get plugged into a LifeGroup.

MISSIONAL COMMUNITIES: HEART AND SOUL The mark of a healthy church is not our seating capacity but our sending capacity. We don’t have to send people across the world we can send people into their communities and into their spheres of influence. We live in a time and culture where we can make the biggest impact for the Gospel and the Kingdom of God through our relationships. These relationships begin where we live, work and play. This is the heartbeat of MISSIONAL COMMUNITIES. Jesus laid the foundation for MISSIONAL COMMUNITIES in John 1:14 (The Message) The Word became flesh and blood, and moved into the neighborhood. What does that look like for us today? What does this look like for CPC? George MacLeod, Scottish soldier and clergyman; was one of the best known, most influential and unconventional Church of Scotland ministers of the 20th century. He was the founder of the Iona Community at the island of Iona said, “The cross must be raised again at the center of the marketplace as well as on the steeple of the church. I am claiming that Jesus was not crucified in a cathedral between two candles, but on a cross between two thieves; on the town garbage heap, at a crossroads so cosmopolitan they had to write His title in Hebrew, Latin, and Greek. At the kind of place where cynics talk smut, and thieves curse, and soldiers gamble, because that is where He died and that is what he died about and that is where churchpeople ought to be and what churchpeople should be about.” MISSIONAL COMMUNITY PLAN: CPC Missional Community is birthed out of a LifeGroup that starts out with the intention of becoming a Missional Community. There are three things these LifeGroups must have in place before becoming an official Missional Community: a LEADER, a CORE, and a MISSION.
1
LEADER A called and qualified leader. This leader must: sense God’s call; complete the Missional Leader Readiness form; meet the leadership qualifications of CPC; complete LifeGroups Leaders and Missional Community Training.
2
CORE A healthy community living out gospel-centered missional community. Healthy communities are
The Compass 2017 .indd 9
a core of people that: Practice steady state community; are engaged in mission to their community; share leadership; keep the gospel central; is at least 6-8 people.
3
MISSION A LifeGroup that starts with a clear missional focus of reaching the community around them. The Missional Community should be focused on engaging a particular community or group around the Northern Virginia area or any other identified areas and identify ways to show the love of Christ with no-strings attached, and to practice unconditional grace and mercy to the unchurched and dechurched in their community. This clearly defined mission must be accompanied by a plan for engagement. The ultimate missional focus should be people. Identify a community and develop a plan to engage them with the gospel through action and words. Missional Communities are not about a once a week meeting. They are about finding other times to connect throughout the week. Discipleship in the 7 Domains Of Society: Through Missional Communities All of us are called to be disciples. We all have been called to the Great Commission by leading the way with the Great Commandment. Our desire is that every person that comes to CPC will be ignited, active, and growing disciples. This is what we are called to as we live out this journey of faith, 24/7/365. We have the opportunity, from the youngest to the oldest, to make a difference and influence every domain of the culture in which we live and do life. We can’t depend on external things to change and transform lives. True transformation doesn’t come from anything in our world, but only comes through the redemptive work of Jesus and the power of the Holy Spirit working in the life of every individual. The harsh reality, within our culture today, is that the unchurched and the dechurched just won’t walk through our doors unless they are invited by someone that they already have a relationship with. With that being said, what can we do? We must move out from our walls and meet people where they are. Meet them where they do life, where they work, and where they play. 9
1/3/2017 3:57:44 PM
MISSIONAL COMMUNITIES: HEART AND SOUL There are 7 domains within every culture.
From surgeons, to missionaries overseas, to fulltime parents, we’re called to be people empowered by the spirit, doing what Jesus did, in every domain, in our neighborhoods, city, and around the world. So the question for us to ask ourselves is: What if our LifeGroups were intentional about being a front door into the life of our church? What if we look at discipleship not just as something for those that already attend CPC, but also as a way to connect the Gospel to every place in society? What if we truly equipped our people to live beyond the church infrastructure? Then the potential for making a difference becomes exponential. What if some of our LifeGroups here at CPC became intentional Missional Communities? The purpose of Missional Communities is to serve those we are called to love. By doing so, our people flourish in all domains of society. Jesus was serious about relationships. He spent
all night talking to his Father. He hung out with his disciples, listened to their questions, and taught them patiently. He challenged the misguided. He had compassion on those with deep spiritual voids in their lives, and he encouraged even the smallest hint of faith. He loved deeply. He wants us to do the same. When he called his first disciples, Peter and Andrew, Jesus’ first words were, “Come follow me and I will send you out to fish for people” (Mt 4:19). His final words as he ascended into heaven were “go and make disciples of all nations… (Mt 28:19). His challenge to all believers is, “you will be my witnesses” (Acts 1:8). One of the best arenas for outreach is in a LifeGroup. In fact, LIfeGroups may be the new “front door” of the church. LifeGroups as a way to impact and influence our culture can be very effective. But what if some of these Lifegroups became intentional Missional Communities with a clear missional focus of reaching the community around them?
At CPC we are launching our first MISSIONAL COMMUNITY this Spring with a pilot Missional Community. One of our Elders Willie McIntosh and his wife Rochelle and their family will be the leading this pilot Missional Community. Willie and Rochelle are gathering a core group that will be a part of the initial Missional Community. If you want to be a part of this core pilot group they will be kicking off on January 29, 2017. Discipleship Map:
Mapping Your Journey Our desire at CPC is to have LifeGroups that meet in workplaces, homes, coffeehouses and other marketplace venues throughout the Centreville area. We also want to offer core discipleship experiences that help people chart a course for intentional spiritual growth in specific areas. Woven through the fabric of our LifeGroups structure are core discipleship experiences. These are the groups we encourage everyone at CPC to participate in at some point during their journey with us. We want to develop a system for helping people grow in their faith that is more strategic than simply “pick a life group, any life group.” The Discipleship Map was developed out of a desire to provide a systematic, logical, yet flexible framework to help people take the next steps in their faith journey. American poet, William Stafford, wrote of people who want a “wilderness with a map.” That describes our generation. We want to experience the wild and untamed adventure of life, but at the same time, we desire a roadmap of some sort. The Discipleship Map includes the groups and experiences that we believe everyone at CPC should participate in during their time at CPC. It is built around the Seeker, Learner, Influencer, Investor framework for discipleship. The map is different from most discipleship strategies in the following ways: It is not linear. Rather, it is rooted in the belief that discipleship is a journey. Instead of giving a linear set of points to reach or boxes to check off, it gives road markers to help people navigate their spiritual growth. It is not one-size-fits-all. It does not assume that everyone needs to learn in the same pattern. There is flexibility to jump in and out as needed.
It does not have an endpoint. The journey never ends. Individuals are encouraged to explore Alpha, and the 4 port cities. From there, each island will be populated with other discipleship experiences, and our LifeGroups help people continue their journey. We never “arrive” at home plate or at the top of a ladder. It is a life-long process of discovery and growth. The journey begins with Starting Point, a practical and foundational introduction to the Christian faith. This will be on our launch from the “mainland.” Seeker Island is the spiritual dimension of discipleship. We want to produce disciples who practice spiritual disciplines, discover and implement their spiritual gifts, develop the fruit of the Spirit, understand and participate in the work of the Holy Spirit, and engage in spiritual warfare. Learner Island is the intellectual dimension of discipleship. We want to produce disciples who endeavor to have the “mind of Christ” and long to know more about Him. We want to produce people who are actively reading, memorizing, meditating upon, and studying the Word of God. We want to produce people who understand the core doctrines of their faith. Influencer Island is the relational dimension of discipleship. We want to produce disciples who share their faith with those inside the church through discipleship and share their faith with those outside the church through evangelism. We want to influence neighborhoods and nations for the Kingdom of God. $ Investor Island is the stewardship dimension of discipleship. We want to produce disciples who are investing their finances, talents, time, energy, and resources into Kingdom work. We want to produce disciples whose calendars and checkbooks reflect Kingdom priorities.
As you turn the page to our Discipleship Map, begin to Chart Your Course for the spiritual journey ahead.

LEARNER
Sundays, 10:30 AM CPC Room 201
We will be studying the book of Job. When suffering comes to us, we often ask why. The book of Job examines the suffering of one man who suffered precisely because he was blameless. His friends supposed that Job was guilty of some unknown sin. They tried to persuade him to repent, but Job did not accept their pat explanations. Finally, God appeared, but he did not give Job the answers he sought. Instead, God confronted him, changed his perspective, and blessed him.

The book of James speaks to the realities of a living faith in Jesus—the kind of roll-up-your-sleeves and get-yourhands-dirty discipleship that is borne out of an authentic relationship with the risen Lord. James writes to believers who know suffering, who’ve faced trials, and who ultimately desire a deep relationship with God.

During this series we will have a deeper understanding on the Character of God. There is nothing more important than a right understanding of God. Every day we have fears, concerns, and demands that distract our lives and compete for our attention. Before long, we begin to filter God’s character and nature through our experiences, creating a god in our image. God Is... is about undoing this —stripping away the false picture that we have painted and restoring a proper view of who God is based on what he has revealed to us in Scripture.

Our study will be Jen Wilkin’s 1 Peter-A Living Hope in Christ, this is a video driven series with small group discussion and daily homework. Our inheritance through Christ is imperishable, undefiled, and unfading. In 1 Peter, a man of faith and flaws and eyewitness to the life of Christ challenges us to look beyond our current circumstances to a future inheritance. He shares his concerns on big picture issues for the early church, describes believers’ true identity in Christ, and ultimately helps readers discover what it means to experience the Living Hope they have in Christ. Key themes of humility, submission, and identity in Christ guide the study of 1 Peter as participants are challenged to read the book in its entirety each week.

James, Jesus’ own brother, started out as a skeptic. See how one glimpse of the resurrected Savior turned an unbeliever into a disciple. Bible scholars compare James to the prophet Amos. In other ways, James more closely resembles the Book of Proverbs than any other New Testament book. Topics in this study include: joy, hardship, faith, reversal of fortunes for rich and poor, wisdom, gifts from above, single-mindedness, the dangers of the tongue, humility, and prayer.

Our study focus for the Men’s LifeGroup will be from the book A Christian Guide to Spirituality by Stephen Hiemstra. Spirituality is lived belief. When we pray, worship, or reach out to our neighbors, we live out our beliefs. Our beliefs structure our spirituality like skin stretched over the bones of our bodies. These beliefs start with faith in God the Father through Jesus Christ as revealed through the Holy Spirit in scripture, in the church, and in daily life. Our Trinitarian theology orders our beliefs. Without a coherent theology, we lose our identity in space and time having no map or compass to guide us on our way. In the end, we focus on ourselves, not God. Christian spirituality starts with God, not with us.

Oscar & Kate Hernandez Hernandez’s Home, Centreville 20120 khernandez7216@gmail.com $10 for the book and $10 for workbook We are a group of engaged, newlyweds, and young married couples who value our marriages and family and are seeking community with others in this similar life stage. Join us as we learn all about Crazy Love. It’s crazy, if you think about it. The God of the universe loves us with a radical, unconditional, self-sacrificing love. And what is our typical response? We go to church, sing songs, and try not to cuss. God is calling you to a passionate love relationship with Himself. Because the answer to religious complacency isn’t working harder at a list of do’s and don’ts—it’s falling in love with God.

Servant Leadership “Leadership is a potent combination of strategy and character. But if you must be without one, be without the strategy.” General Norman Schwarzkopf Jesus demonstrated true servant leadership in His kingdom that was in stark difference to the leadership of the kingdom of darkness and the current form of leadership exercised in the Jewish religious system of His day. The kingdom of darkness leadership is a top down authority structure in which the leaders exercise authority over those under their charge. This was the style of the leadership among the Gentiles. But you notice that the Jewish religious system had the exact same kind of leadership structure. The Pharisees and Sadducees exercised authority as rulers over the people. When Jesus taught that true servant leadership was exercised by being a servant and being a servant was the main task of His leadership, this was revolutionary. It was totally opposite of what was happening. He was saying that whoever was not acting as a servant to the people was not truly a leader and would not be able to be leaders in the kingdom of God. True servant leadership leads by his example of being a servant, not trying to lord it over anyone. He said to His disciples that if they wanted to be great in His kingdom they had to learn what it meant to function in the role of servant leadership. Leaders are servants. It’s counterintuitive. Servant leadership sounds like an oxymoron, doesn’t it? It may be unlike the leadership you’ve experienced in the marketplace . . . or even the church for that matter. But biblical leaders cannot be anything but servant leaders. Matthew 20:25-28 “But Jesus called them to him and said, ‘You know that the rulers of the Gentiles lord it over them, and their great ones exercise authority over them. It shall not be so among you. But whoever would be great among you must be your servant, and whoever would be first among you must be your slave, even as the Son of Man came not to be served but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many.’” As followers of Christ, I believe every Christian is a leader, leading, serving and influencing those around us. As impact servant leaders here at CPC, we all have the potential to lead from a place that doesn’t rest solely on our competencies or our natural abilities. My hope for every person at CPC, whether a stay at home mom, high school student, school teacher,
The Compass 2017 .indd 17
business executive, accountant, or government employee is that they would see themselves as a leader who has an opportunity to serve and influence others as a disciple of Jesus Christ. Our desire for every servant leader at Centreville Presbyterian Church is to be developed in the 5Cs of leadership or what is known as The ConneXions Model of Healthy Leader Development. This is a comprehensive framework that describes how Jesus, Paul, and other early church leaders invested intentionally and holistically in the lives of other people to build them into effective and fruitful leaders. Developed over two decades by Malcolm Webber, Ph.D. The 5Cs are Christ, Community, Character, Calling and Competencies. According to the ConneXions “5C” model, a healthy Christian leader knows God (Christ), was formed and lives in supportive and accountable community (Community), has integrity (Character), knows the purpose of God and presents it with credibility, clarity and passion (Calling), and has the necessary gifts, skills and knowledge to lead the people in the accomplishment of this purpose (Competencies) – and he/she is continually growing in all five areas. We believe the “5C” model affects the leader’s core and conduct that will help them make an impact in seven domains of society and culture. Ultimately, this will lead us to be the effective servant leader that God has destined us to be. What if each of us at CPC would look at ourselves as servant leaders, ready to impact and influence those around us for the Kingdom of God? What if you step out by faith and embrace your unique calling, gifts and passion? What if you begin to live your life knowing the mission and calling and voice of God in your soul and you know where that compass is driving you forward? You will become a rare commodity in a world searching for direction. I believe that as a church, together we can make a significant difference and bring life-giving transformation to those around us. I believe as we look at our calling as servant leaders we can live out what Jesus modeled for all of His disciples. 17

Mission Statement Our goal every week is to help CPC develop ignited, active, and growing disciples of Jesus Christ. Our desire as worship leaders is to help take everyone’s mind off of the craziness and busyness of life and onto the peace and joy that comes from hearing and experiencing God. We do this by creating irresistible environments where the setting is appealing, the presentations are engaging and the content is helpful. When this happens we believe people will come back, invite friends and take next steps in their faith and relationship with the Lord.

What makes a song a “worship” song? by Bryan Olden So often we make it about the style of the music. The truth of the matter is that “worship” music has one purpose. The goal of worship is to lead people to respond to the greatness of the one and only living God. It’s the message of what we sing that makes a worship song. Worship is our response to what or whom we value most. Worship does not just have to happen at church. True worship happens 24 hours a day 7 days a week. It’s a life style we choose to live because we value our relationship with God and are thankful for what His son Jesus Christ did for us on the cross. Worship music communicates biblical doctrine and helps change lives. The purpose of the music in worship is not music education or preservation but life transformation. In our services here at CPC, we want to you be inspired, and moved to praise God and pursue a relationship with Him. We want worship to flow and lead you into an intimate place where you can feel the presence of God in your lives in spite of all the craziness going on around us.
Here are a few worship websites we enjoy that have great videos, articles, blogs and music. We want to equip others at CPC to engage more fully in worship. www.leadworship.com www.worshiptogether.com 18

MISSIONs MINISTRY What are your passions? How has the Lord burdened your heart to serve? Connecting and caring for our mission partners takes our whole church family. Our love for God becomes visible as we walk alongside neighbors, near and far. Come and be active with missions. We seek to love others and further His mercy and justice to “the least of these”. Amidst these opportunities to serve the world, we feel privileged to be the Lord’s hands and feet and voice to the poor, the lost, and the hurting.
CPC’s Mission Impact Areas Church Planting & Evangelism. While all of our missionaries share the message of hope in our Lord Jesus Christ, several of them focus primarily on evangelism. Our support undergirds church planting in Nepal and Vietnam. Our campus ministry partners and internet outreaches proclaim the message of faith with creativity and boldness in places where we cannot go, such as in Afghanistan and Burma. Farthest Corners (Thailand) Hazara Ministries (Afghanistan) International School Projects (Campus Crusade) Intervarsity/UK Christian Answers for the New Age Philemon Chhetri (Nepal) United Presbyterian Church of Vietnam Disaster Relief. When natural disasters strike, immediate needs arise then long-term assistance plans need to be implemented. We ship hygiene and clean-up kits year-round to global crises. Our short-term mission teams participate in long-term recovery projects for victims in the aftermath of hurricanes and floods. Gifts of the Heart Mercy Truck Ministries in the North Country Presbyterian Disaster Assistance Families & Children. Walking alongside families plays a significant role in our outreaches. We partner with three local schools to provide weekend food to low income families as well as give academic scholarships and weekly mentoring. Our missionaries in Guatemala work with families in impoverished villages; and, our Zambian partner provides home and hope to AIDS orphans and widows. Every Orphan’s Hope (Zambia) International Justice Mission London Towne Elementary School Mountain View High School Westfield High School Our Neighbor’s Child Redeemer’s House (Guatemala) Sanctity of Life Poverty, Homelessness & Hunger. CPC cares deeply that people have shelter, clothing, and food. We serve meals, host food drives, give hours in food pantries, and swing hammers to repair homes. We walk alongside a local congregation composed mostly of homeless people. We also send short-term mission teams to serve with ministry partners to rehab homes with those struggling in poverty and personal crises. Car Donation Program Habitat for Humanity Lamb Center New Hope Fellowship Western Fairfax Christian Ministries SERVE Shelter Much brokenness exists in the world. Our focus is to come alongside people one at a time to help bring health and healing in the name of Jesus. The missions and outreaches of CPC seek to be the light of Christ through prayer, volunteer hours, and financial support. It’s our joy and privilege to serve! Where do you sense the Lord prompting you to serve? We want to connect all of CPC with our family of ministry partners. Would you consider becoming a missionary’s prayer partner, repairing a home with Habitat, preparing a casserole for the Lamb Center, or participating in a short-term mission team? Visit the “SERVE” tab on the CPC website to learn more about each ministry partner. We value each child and family that comes to CPC! Our hope is to ignite each child with an insatiable desire to LOVE, GROW and GO in Christ. We recognize that no one has more influence over a child than his or her parent. We want to partner with parents by equipping them with the tools they need to support their kids spiritually at home. On Sunday mornings, we come together as a “family of families,” recognizing that we are all created to have a relationship with God and created with unique talents and abilities to help each other LOVE, GROW and GO in Christ.

This is the place for high energy explorers ages 3-5 (potty trained-Kindergarten). Our team of volunteers brings Bible stories to life through active play, storytelling, videos and crafts. We recognize and respect the worship needs of parents at this “stage of life.” While we encourage and celebrate children in our worship community, we understand that sometimes you just need to spiritually recharge! Parents can choose to drop off prior to service or walk their children back after the children are dismissed during the first 15 minutes of worship. We believe that this helps children grow spiritually when they see their parents and community practicing the worship of God! cpckids

DEACON MINISTRY The Board of Deacons has been called and commissioned to a servant ministry for Jesus Christ whose duties include attending to the physical, emotional and spiritual needs of the congregation of the CPC; developing relationships with members of a flock; and praying for all whose concerns and joys are known to us. In addition Deacons are called to be aware of needs in the greater CPC community and minister to them, when appropriate. They must not be heavy drinkers or dishonest with money. They must be committed to the mystery of the faith now revealed and must live with a clear conscience.
