: Retail Design :Branding and Retail : Hill Road, Bandra : Mumbai : CEPT- Brand Building through Spatial Design : 2020 (Sem 9)

ABOUT STUDIO - Brand Building through Spatial Design With the rise of E-commerce, omni-channel retailing and ubiquity of “brands” in the last few decades, the relevance as well as design approaches for retailing and brand building have evolved significantly. These novel challenges are demanding new approaches in retail store design. To address this evolving nature of retail store design, this studio focused on design of variety of retail formats through the lens of brand building. EXPERIENCE NEROLAC FLAGSHIP STORE Nerolac is a well-known paint brand in India. Currently, it is in second position, one behind Asian Paints in the decorative paints segment. The proposed design for the experience center will allow Nerolac to position itself as the most sustainable brand, a claim that only Nerolac can make! Since the paint buying process by homeowners is heavily influenced by designers and painters in India, this experience center is designed to inspire and aid the designers through a variety of tools offered in this space. A digital experience based wow element has also been proposed to help this center create a buzz in the city.

ABOUT STUDIO - Celebrating Contemporary Crafts Interior Design studio at CEPT about designing an themed exhibition space in a heritage site. The curation and theme development was based on study and research on Contemporary Crafts of Asia PRAKAASHEY PARIPREKSHY

For Complete project with detail please scan QR code.

Walking deeper into the streets of Sankri Sheri there stands Deewan Ji Ni Haveli reflecting the heritage of Ahmedabad- The heritage city of India. Through its highly Carved wooden facade, now holds this lighting exhibition named “PRAKAASHEY PARIPREKSHY” which means lighting Perspectives, is based on changing your perspective on word ‘light’ and realizing how important light is all aspects of life. Without Light, we cannot exist it has always been an important part of our life yet we do not realize its importance and how light is indirectly linked to almost everything in nature. The exhibition explores about these indirect relationships and connection that contemporary lights forms with“Religion & Light”,“Tradition & light”,“Time & light”,“Experience & light”. In India, while artisans still practice a diverse range of craft skills, they are sadly disappearing. The crafts of India are diverse, rich in history and religion. The craft of each state in India reflects the influence of different empires. Throughout centuries, crafts have been embedded as a culture and tradition within rural communities. Contemporary crafts based on these skills have been curated so as to bind the narrative of the exhibition.

RECALL & REVEAL Project Type Project Sub Type Project Location Project City Studio Project Year

: Adaptive Reuse : Visualization : Premabhai Hall : Ahmedabad, India : CEPT- Work-Play 2.0 : 2019 - (Sem 6)

ABOUT STUDIO - Work- Play.2. Interior Design studio at CEPT based on focusing on the implications of urbanization on design. Studying issues pertaining to ‘hyper-density’ and the conditions it creates in cities and built environment densely populated Indian cities. Exploring ‘cross-programming’ a sub type of Adaptive reuse where two or more spatial program coexist together in a harmony while reusing an existing space.

For Complete project with detail please scan QR code.

The site - Premabhai Hall The Premabhai hall is located in the densely populated, old city of Ahmedabad. This Post-Corbusian Brutalist piece of architecture was Designed by famous architect B.V. Doshi in 1956 as a modern public theater. The roof has a generous sky terrace with a fantastic view of its vibrant historical surroundings. As the theater was closed down in 1997, the building is now underutilized empty shell. Project “Recall & Reveal” is based on re-imagining the theater along with a heritage museum & craft workshop intertwined together. RECALL & REVEAL The Design is based in Interwoven Strategy of Cross-programming a Heritage Museum and Craft Workshop which have been interwoven inside site the Premabhai Hall (theater). The Museum is built around the theatre and there are live workshops inside the museum. All three together becomes a heritage and cultural center in the middle of city. ‘RECALL’ here refers to the Recalling the Past, hence pointing to the function of Museum and ‘REVEAL’ here refers to reveal the technique and the process of craft, hence pointing to the function of workshop.

Project Inspiration : Igrega de carmo with azulejos (blue painted tiles)

: Cafe Design (Thematic) : Technical Drawings : Royale Lisboa Salon : Lisbon, Portugal : 2020 - (Sem 8)

ABOUT STUDIO Interior Design studio at ESART-IPCB about designing a themed cafe at given site with complete technical drawings with a careful attention to details and space planning.

CAFE AZUL The concept of café arises from context of the site ie. Lisbon, Portugal, Where the use of the blue(AZUL) has been so prominent in the architecture. So the color blue feels familiar to the Portuguese people. When we think about India usually warm tones especially yellow and red comes to one’s mind. Breaking away from the stereotypical notion of colors and textures, this cafe is inspired from two of the architecture styles of India, The Mughal Architecture & The Rajput Architecture with a twist of contemporary and luxury. Traveling from outside the cafe to the inside one should be able to experience a transitioning journey from Lisbon to Jaipur(India). The only one thing that remain similar is the blue color which connect these two places through the weave of design.
