hOw do yOu know? How do you know he is…the one? You may have been asked this question by your parents, your friends, even yourself. The answer isn’t always perfectly clear; he may or may not be ‘ideal’ on paper; you may have known him for only two months or perhaps you’ve been hanging in there a good five years; he may be a cowboy while you were visualizing a business man. The so-called ‘signs’ aren’t always there, but somehow, you just know. At Ceremony, we feel the same way about our Great List of vendors that we recommend. We take this vendor collective very seriously, which is why we don’t put arbitrary consideration requirements in an antiquated form. We don’t have a scholastic checklist to help us come up with an ‘A’ grade. We don’t even have a job application type form to fill out. You see, when it comes to choosing our Great List of recommended vendors, we believe there is no specific formula for choosing who we invite to join our family. Probably not unlike you, we take a look-see at Facebook, we inquire with their friends and colleagues and, most importantly, we get to know them by social networking the old-fashioned way (in person). In the end, we go with our gut. We just…know. You will find that some of these recommended vendors have refined their businesses over the past twenty years, while others bring fresh ideas after having recently started their own businesses. Many of our recommended venues are on the AAA Five-Diamond Resort list; others include charming private estates and everything in between. What they all have in common is that we have a mutual respect for each other; we each genuinely want to see the other succeed; we envision a future together. Do those relationship qualities sound familiar with someone you know? We hope that you will find this varied Great List vendor collective to be helpful in finding your wedding day professionals. There is no single vendor that is perfect for everyone, but there are vendors that are perfect for you. And when you meet them, you will just know.

Two years after Mon Amie opened its doors for business in 1976, Laurel Hokuf applied for a part-time job. She was a college girl, in love with the idea of falling in love. The founder and owner of Mon Amie, Verna Husen took a special interest in this wideeyed beauty and taught her the ways of the wedding world, from servicing brides-tobe and caring for all of their needs, to managing the books and seeing exactly how the bridal gown business was run from the dressing room floor up. What quickly became Laurel’s career became her true passion.

And then she fell in love…with the man of her dreams. Much like every great romance, Laurel was swept up into her own love story. While Mon Amie has always been a family business, Laurel’s decision to leave her “second mom,” and start a family of her own was tough. After sixteen years, Verna was her mentor, and for the eighteen that followed, Laurel stayed at home raising her children, but maintained a closeness any protégé would. What once was just a thought became a dream of Verna’s to see Mon Amie in the hands of Laurel and her husband, Robert Mungo. She could never sell the store and wanted to keep the business in her family. When Verna passed away two years ago, Laurel knew that it was her calling to return to the place that was so near to her heart. For the past 35 years, Mon Amie has come to be known for their impeccable customer service and sincere approach to making each bride’s experience, once-of-a-lifetime. It’s evident their philosophy is rooted in family values. “A woman’s wedding day changes her life forever,” says Laurel. “The trust and love that goes into your family, starts with marriage. The moments leading up to it should be just as exceptional.” Finding the dress of your dreams is a dream come true at Mon Amie’s Costa Mesa location. Confidence is vital when going through the color selection process. Choosing the right colors for your wedding can affect the personality and design aesthetic of your environment. It is also one of the most effective ways of bringing your design to life. Fortunately there are authorities on color that dedicate their efforts to researching color that can help you make the right choice.

They find inspiration in everything from entertainment to popular travel destinations to socio-economic conditions. These color influencers release forecasts for each season and designate their top color pick for the most predominant color of the year. You will see their color predictions carry through in everything from fashion to advertising to home goods.

Trendy Color Combinations

The Colors for 2014 We stay in the cool spectrum of colors shifting from green to blue in 2014. Blue is believed to establish trust and be calming, but also has an organic element to it. Metallic colors pair nicely with blue, which compliment the new lines of table linens and accessories hitting the wedding market made of gold, silver, mercury and rose gold.

Hue: Color Family Value: Lightness or Darkness of Color Saturation: Brightness of Color 2014 Spring Colors are neutralized and softened. 2014 Fall Colors are darkened and brightened. “Dazzling Blue” is PANTONE’S 2014 Color of the Year “Re-Blued” is Color Marketing Group’s NEXT Color

Dazzling Blue is Pantone’s 2014 Color of the Year. (Pantone creates color systems for the accurate communication of color for design professionals.) While the hue itself is bright, you will see the saturation scale back to softer shades of the same color. This hue of blue will be combined with other bold colors like orange and yellow, as well as with neutrals of gray and tan.

Monochromatic color schemes, where a single color is lightened or darkened, also remains popular with brides. Ombre is a perfect example of this color combination. This technique can be used when adding texture and dimension to linens, paper, flowers and even cakes. When using colors that are not high in contrast, varying textures compliment it well. A Word on Color in Wedding Fashion Color is exploding into bridal gowns in particular. The latest fashions show a full spectrum of pinks ranging from blush to fuchsia. We are also seeing a lot of black and white combinations. These colors will also influence wedding décor and add more variety for couples that are not enthusiastic about blue. Use Color Confidently

Re-Blued is the Color Marketing Groups “Next Color.” (CMG identifies the direction of color and design trends and interprets them into salable colors.) This shade of blue is more grayed than Dazzling Blue and can be darkened for more of a classic look and lightened for a more casual look. It goes well with the neutrals and other more grayed colors of green and even red. How to Use the 2014 Colors in Patterns Patterns and texture are very popular in wedding design. We are seeing high-contrast

The color wheel can be used to help you combine colors correctly. This year’s colors can either stay in the spectrum of cool tones or reach across the color wheel to complimentary colors in yellow and orange tones. Blues offer a multitude of possibilities depending on the shade and tone used. Couples can create an urban look combining charcoal, white and blue or go more rustic using heavier textures in earth tones of linen, beige and white.

Couples get comfortable using the same color palettes that are seen in real wedding features in wedding media. Remember that these are images from past weddings and colors always trend forward. Color schemes seen in high-end designer floral photo shoots, such as the ones in Ceremony Magazine’s tabletop section, offer a much better basis from which to draw color inspiration. If you are avoiding the “already been done” look, move into a fresh combination that sets you apart from others. You will know it is right when you look at the colors in front of you and say, “I love it!”

Because of the religious ties to every part of the ceremony, most brides decide to stay true to the religious tradition and include all parts in their marriage ceremony. Oftentimes, however, they hire a pandit ji (or officiant) to explain in English the steps of the ceremony as they are happening. Staying true to their tradition, however, is ideal in creating a wedding ceremony that makes their parents and other family members happy while honoring their ancestors the right way. Here are some of the traditional parts of the Hindu Marriage Ceremony.

RANDERY IMAGERY

The Hindu Wedding is one of the most traditional wedding ceremonies out there. A typical Hindu ceremony lasts a total of two hours from start to finish and consists of 19 different parts, making up the entire ritual of the uniting of bride and groom and the blessings from each of their families. It is a deeply meaningful and symbolic combination of ritual and tradition that dates back almost 4000 years. It is important when planning an Indian wedding that you hire a seasoned coordinator who knows exactly how to blend the families’ tradition with their modern bride’s vision.

The Baraat. This is how a typical Hindu ceremony begins. The groom makes his grand entrance, arriving on a white horse while his family and friends dance to the sounds of the Dhol drum. This marks the arrival of the groom’s procession. The Milni. Right after the Baraat comes this special part of the ceremony where the bride’s family greets the groom and his family with an exchange of garlands and welcomes them to the joyous occasion.

The Declaration. At the end of the ceremony, the bride and groom make an oath declaring that they love and will remain devoted to one another. At this time, the pandit ji officially declares them as husband and wife.

RANDERY IMAGERY

The Pradakshinam (or Phera). Jumping ahead a little bit, the Phera is a very critical part of the traditional ceremony when the bride and groom walk around the fire seven times, symbolizing the walk of life. The groom leads the bride through the first four rounds while the bride leads the groom through the last three rounds.

Select a company that has excellent testimonials about its vehicles and service, and references to match. Pricing Request an “all inclusive” price quote. Hidden fees may include sales tax, refueling charges, license fees, or PUC fees. Be aware of how the company charges for overtime. Avoid those that have overtime surcharge rates or round everything to the nearest hour, and select a company that has a price match policy. For bridal showers, we love to keep things light and fun, so our favorite concept is brunch. We include sweet and savory favorites, along with a mandatory build-your-own bellini bar.
