publisher's letter When we created and introduced the inaugural edition of Ceremony Magazine 12 years ago, we did so with two mantras in mind: weddings are visual, so photography is key; and collaborate with the highest quality vendors and the magazine will follow suit. Those principles still reign true today. Ceremony Magazine has always been big on pictures and short on words, and it seems social media is emulating the same. With the likes of Pinterest and Instagram becoming the go-to social media sites, the whole world can now communicate in a language that has no barriers: pictures. Now more than ever, it’s the perfect complementary platform to view the best-of-the-best of Ceremony’s thousands of timeless inspirational wedding and photo shoot images. We hope you will follow us and find inspiration for your own wedding. While we revel in the limitless amount of ideas we can digitally find, we know that the most beautiful image is no substitute for finding quality vendors who can execute your vision. That is why we indulge in the pure Wedding IngenuityTM from Ceremony’s own family of wedding professionals that are right here in Orange County. This Great List of wedding vendors contains not only many of the best in the Orange County area, but also some of the finest in the country. It is their work that makes up a large part of this magazine, including 51 real weddings in this issue alone. Throughout the entire magazine, their web addresses are listed alongside their work as a helpful tool when you are flipping through Ceremony Magazine online. We are excited for what we know you are about to experience: meeting, collaborating with and perhaps even befriending some of the most creatively talented people you will ever know. As you travel along your wedding planning journey, preparing for life’s wondrous path of marriage and love, we encourage you to put extra special thought into the most significant aspect of the wedding celebration — the

Jim Kennedy Photographers
Jim’s passion for weddings is evident in your first meeting with him. Brides love his relaxed style and easy going personality. Building a relationship with his couples prior to the wedding day is very important to him; he feels this is the key in capturing the personalities of the couple on their wedding day. Jim’s goal: to provide the images that will help relive all of the special moments and emotion that make up the wedding day for years to come. Jim takes pride in the fact that most of his business is based on referrals from brides, wedding coordinators and venue managers.

Capturing the chemistry and love of every couple we photograph with a modern, elegant and impactful style is what we do. Our easygoing, unobtrusive approach makes the experience fun, allowing everyone to relax and have a great time. Weddings are about love, beauty and celebration. We photograph every cherished moment, and later work with our couples to create a beautiful wedding album that will be treasured for generations. Our devotion to detail and personal customer service limits the number of weddings we photograph each year. We feel honored to be a part of one of the most important days in a couple’s life.

Michael Purdy Photography
Mike’s style is most appreciated by the bride that wants artwork; not just snapshots. It all begins with a well-planned highfashion engagement shoot. Mike works with his clients to develop their custom style by using color swatches, mood boards and themes. The day of the wedding is well planned and his team knows when to lead the client and when to step back and capture oncein-a-lifetime moments. Whether the client is stiff or a natural with posing, Mike knows how to create an atmosphere that is fun and enjoyable so his clients feel relaxed and stay “in the moment” throughout the day. His company services all of Southern California and also specializes in destination weddings around the globe.

DPARK Photography We’re David and Drexelle. And we’re complete opposites. God amazingly brought us together, two kids scared of marriage and now passionate about a lifetime committed to love – the good, the bad, the crazy, the lovely. We don’t just capture the moment. We create it. Even more important to us than beautiful photographs, is an amazing experience. Our passion? Inspire love. MEET DAVID: To see people, the world, life differently. Creatively. That’s what I’m about. That’s why I chose photography. I worked passionately to give my wife a great love story. I will work passionately to capture yours. Drexelle once told me: “Time just flies, doesn’t it?!” But that’s why I love photography. Not because time flies. But because we capture moments in time.

Real emotions and real moments make real photos. The connection between our clients and us is essential. We take pride in understanding your needs, making you feel comfortable, and providing you a space throughout the day to allow for natural moments. Our style is organic, artistic and intimate. Look through our portfolio and see the magic of a moment stopped in time. When you hire us, you get experience. Experience is vital to handle tough lighting situations, to stick to wedding timelines, to know how a wedding day unfolds, and to be in the right spot to capture that once-in-alifetime moment. We love our job. We are chosen to document memories in photographs; that’s a big deal! Our photographs are timeless guaranteed to recall memories to be shared from generation to generation. We have been called lots of names: photography geniuses, light whisperers, sneaky ninjas, and our favorite...friends.
I am the girl who has dreamt of her wedding day since she was 10 years old —maybe even younger. I remember countless occasions sitting on the floor in my best friend’s room drawing our wedding dresses and talking about our future husbands. I love what I do. I am living my dream career and every moment of it makes me feel fulfilled. I know I am truly fortunate in that respect. I really enjoy getting to know my clients on a personal level and building friendships with them all if I can.My business is built around my hopes, dreams, and loves of my life. My mother and my sister both work with me along with some of my very dear friends and I am so proud of that! I am a daughter, sister, aunt, girlfriend, and friend - and I love each of those roles even more than I love my career. I just happen to be fortunate enough that I can combine them all together.

how do you know? How do you know…he’s the one? You may have been asked this question by your parents, your friends, even yourself. The answer isn’t always perfectly clear; he may or may not be ‘ideal’ on paper; you may have known him for only two months or perhaps you’ve been hanging in there a good five years; he may be a cowboy while you were visualizing a business man. The so-called ‘signs’ aren’t always there, but somehow, you just know. At Ceremony, we feel the same way about our Great List of wedding professionals that we recommend and invite to join our family of advertising partners. We take this vendor collective very seriously, which is why we don’t put arbitrary consideration requirements in an antiquated form. We don’t have a scholastic checklist to help us come up with an ‘A’ grade. We don’t even have a job application type form to fill out. You see, when it comes to choosing our Great List of recommended professionals, we believe there is no specific formula for choosing who we invite to join our family. Probably not unlike you, we take a looksee at Facebook, we inquire with their friends and colleagues and, most importantly, we get to know them by social networking the old-fashioned way (in person). In the end, we go with our gut. We just… know. You will find that some of these recommended vendors have refined their businesses over the past twenty years, while others bring fresh ideas after having recently started their own businesses. Many of our recommended venues are on the AAA Five-Diamond Resort list; others include charming private estates and everything in between. Additionally, the esteemed planners on the following pages each approach weddings in their own unique way, and we have interviewed each of them in order to give you an up close and personal look at their backgrounds, their ideas, and their wedding ingenuity. We hope that you will find this varied Great List vendor collective to be helpful in finding your wedding day professionals. There is no single vendor that is perfect for everyone, but there are vendors that are perfect for you. And when you meet them, you will just know.

Coordinator Spotlight Kevin Covey is a highly sought-after planner who has been planning fabulous weddings in Orange County, Los Angeles and beyond for over a decade. Kevin can be seen planning weddings on popular shows like “Whose Wedding is It Anyways?” “Platinum Weddings,” “Married Away” and “Wedding Altered!” This humble planner is a true innovator who thinks outside of the box. He has a creative vision, impeccable taste and wonderful organizational skills.

Idea Ingenuity DÉCOR: These days, we are seeing a trend to hang pretty much anything in a ballroom. For instance, lighting and sound equipment along with floral décor is hung to free up the square footage in your reception and keep things looking clean and sharp! FOOD: Many small plates providing different options for your guests are becoming popular. VOWS: Opt for personal vows from the heart written on nice cardstock. There is nothing worse than reading your vows from your iPhone. COLOR PALETTES: Silver and purples, golds and corals and of course, neutral colors are still leading the pack. ENTERTAINMENT: Two new trends are having traditional music with a modern flair and having a special guest acoustic violinist/ guitarist just for a few hours. Many of our clients are personalizing their music and choosing songs that mean something to them. PHOTO BOOTHS: Photo flipbooks have been very popular, along with having photo booths that guests can upload directly to social media outlets. TRANSPORTATION: Trolley cars, luxury classic cars and even a helicopter have been on the radar of our couples. FAVORS: Are getting really personal or being completely deleted to give guests a total experience BUDGET: Clients are very budget-conscience yet still sometimes very surprised at how much weddings are costing these days. Couples are compromising their guest list to have the perfect venue. A 220 guest wedding at a moderate hotel can easily cost $80,000, if not more, depending on the wedding wishes. LOVE IT: Having the ceremony and reception at the same location. OVER IT: Over signage. Do we really need a sign for the wedding cake? I think it speaks for itself!

All in the Details MY DREAM WEDDING: A simple ceremony on a beach in Hawaii with my closest friends & family! MY DESIGN PHILOSOPHY: To be realistic with clients' budgets, but also stretching the dollar to give the look and feel that represents my couples. 3 WORDS THAT DESCRIBE MY STYLE: Modern, sophisticated and fun YOU’RE ENGAGED! YOU SHOULD KNOW THIS: Whatever you say you want to spend, in reality you are going to spend more. Things will come up and it’s best to be prepared. MY FAVORITE PLACE TO SHOP: Home Goods

I STARTED MY BUSINESS IN: 1997
THIS IS HOW IT CAME TO BE: After planning my own wedding, working with a wedding planner and combining my background in corporate event planning and project management, it just seemed like the perfect career path. A LITTLE BIT ABOUT MY BACKGROUND: I’m a SoCal native and graduated from the University of Southern California. My first job out of college was an account executive with a national ad agency, then I stepped over to the client side and did in-house marketing and project management for a well-known fast food chain. From there, I worked with a non-profit company in hosting televised corporate-sponsored events.
TRINA SCHMIDT WEDDINGS & SPECIAL EVENTS tsweddings.com | 714.488.4603
Idea Ingenuity COLOR PALETTES: Lately, I’m really enjoying using a combination of grey shades, mixed metals (gold and silver) and woods, and one or two strong colors to make everything pop. It works for every season depending on which two strong colors you choose. It can be modern, urban, elegant or romantic, or a combo of any of those. DÉCOR: For designing in general, don’t just have a Pinterest wedding, have your own wedding. Pinterest can certainly expose you to some creative ideas, but it can also be a design overload. Take those ideas and make them your own so they speak about you, not something that you found online or in a magazine.
All in the Details I FIND INSPIRATION IN: My clients themselves. We spend a lot of time getting to know each other and that’s when the design process begins. They inspire me with their personalities, hobbies, interests, etc. For my life in general, my husband and 3 kids inspire me most. MY DREAM WEDDING: Intimate (less than 100 guests), destination and thoroughly enjoyable. MY FAVORITE PLACES TO SHOP: Nordstrom, Bloomingdales, Target, Home Goods, Hobby Lobby, Zara, White House Black Market and Anthropologie
DESSERT STATIONS: Live dessert stations are all the trend, and when prepared efficiently, your guests will certainly be pleased and pumped up from a delicious sugar high. You can have freshly prepared Nutella crepes, deep fried donuts, or even a nitro ice cream station. Whichever you choose, just make sure the preparation is quick so the lines are kept short.
MY DESIGN PHILOSOPHY: “Simplicity is the Ultimate Sophistication.” – Leonardo da Vinci
BRIDAL PARTY GIFTS: Matching/coordinating robes, monogrammed totes and bling flip flops are very trendy right now. They make for great “getting ready” photos and long-lasting gifts.
I LOVE WEDDINGS BECAUSE: They are all unique celebrations; no two are ever the same. They are personal, emotional, joyous and intimate events that bring everyone together for just one day.
BUDGET: More and more, couples are paying for a majority of their wedding themselves, so keeping within a budget is most important. Before any venue walkthroughs or even purchasing a wedding gown, implementing a budget should be the first step you take. Most couples don’t know how much everything costs, and that can be quite scary, but hiring a professional wedding planner can help set your realistic budget goals from the start and provide you with experienced advice to make smart decisions along the planning process so it doesn’t get stressful for you. Having an “over the top” wedding shouldn’t mean “in over your head”. HONEYMOON: The days that lead up to your wedding day can be very busy for you, so try to leave for your honeymoon for 2-3 days after the wedding. Not only will it give you extra time to pack, but it will also give you additional intimate time to visit with family and friends that traveled from far to celebrate with you.
62
3 WORDS THAT DESCRIBE MY STYLE: For weddings, the three words that would describe my style are timeless, innovative and yours.
YOU’RE ENGAGED! YOU SHOULD KNOW THIS: So typical that I would say this, but I really feel it’s the best advice to hire a wedding planner! MY FAVORITE DRINK: A glass of good champagne
THE BEST DAY OF MY LIFE WAS: Meeting my husband and starting this wonderful blessed life together IF MONEY WERE NO OBJECT, I WOULD: Buy a vacation home in Deer Valley, Utah SOMETHING MOST PEOPLE DON’T KNOW ABOUT ME: I’m half Italian and half Filipino. So yes, I have lots of personality and I love to eat!

Coordinator Spotlight I STARTED MY BUSINESS IN: 2004 THIS IS HOW IT CAME TO BE: I started out in corporate events working in an advertising agency then started assisting a wedding planner while I was having children. I realized weddings were my passion and launched Chic Productions, trading blank pages and layouts for ballroom design.
CHIC PRODUCTIONS
A LITTLE BIT ABOUT MY BACKGROUND: I earned my Bachelors degree in Organizational Leadership from Chapman University.
WENDY DAHL
chicproductions.com | 714.596.4455
Idea Ingenuity COLOR PALETTES: Don’t be afraid of playing with color (even though all white weddings are a huge trend right now). Pantone, the authority on color, released the 2016 spring palette filled with vivid bright colors to invoke a calm happiness. This unisex palette has some unexpected combinations of blues and corals or reds as well as yellows with grays. DÉCOR: Wall panels are joining the collections of draping and backdrops to enhance the wall space in event areas. Panels range from rustic wood to fully designed home-like room facades. WEDDING MENU: While comfort food with a twist has been a big trend for the past couple years, we are seeing more of a global influence on foods served at weddings. Couples are pulling in cuisine from their travels to be part of the menu on their wedding day. BUDGET: Couples are getting smarter with their wedding budgets. Focal points consisting of high impact design elements are used in highly visible areas with less focus on making everything over the top. DESTINATION WEDDINGS: Southern California is one of the best locations in the country for destination weddings. Couples are extending the wedding celebration over a period of several days and incorporating activities that locals enjoy. Some examples are beach bonfires, whale watching, day trips to nearby beach towns or even theme parks.
64
"I believe weddings should be heartfelt, memorable days reaching beyond what is beautiful or trendy."
All in the Details MY DESIGN PHILOSOPHY: Be smart spenders. Put more money into high impact elements and things that matter the most to you. Color transforms everything and can pull your attention to what you want to accentuate, while darkness can be your friend by hiding busy ballroom carpets or less than pleasing surroundings. 3 WORDS THAT DESCRIBE MY STYLE: Timeless, sophisticated and memorable I FIND INSPIRATION IN: The world around me. Anywhere from a storefront to a trip to Disneyland can inspire new ideas of textures, color combinations or items that should be fabricated and added to rental inventory. MY CLAIM TO FAME: Winning a Trendsetter Award for having the groom enter for his Baraat at an Indian wedding behind a team of sled dogs instead of on a horse or an elephant. 3 WORDS OTHERS WOULD USE TO DESCRIBE ME: Professional, enthusiastic and trustworthy.
ON MY BUCKET LIST: To coordinate a wedding in front of Sleeping Beauty’s Castle in Disneyland and vacation in the Seychelles Islands. MY FAVORITE STAYCATION: Disneyland. Hands down. THE MOST IMPORTANT THING TO ME: Creating happy, memorable moments in the world around me. MY FAVORITE HOLIDAY: Birthdays. I love celebrating everyone’s special day. MY FAMILY: I am the mother of 3 amazing children who I lovingly refer to as “The Crew.”

BUDGET: Spending big bucks doesn’t give you the wedding of a lifetime. Spending on quality and knowing how to spend the money is what matters.
MY BACKGROUND: Being from a large Armenian family and having graduated from Fresno State College, I was always the one relatives would turn to for planning parties. I decided to take it a step further, and here I am some 14 years later using my import skills, my know-how of design, my ability to source products and more than anything, a real dedication to my brides and their desires.
REHEARSAL: For 14 years now, I have suggested to my brides to do the rehearsal two days before the wedding. If the wedding is on Saturday, do the rehearsal on Thursday. Take Friday to relax and enjoy and do last minute details. WEDDING CAKE: The traditional cake has been replaced by mini desserts and a small 10" round that can be used for pictures.
Most of my brides are amazed that I can source anything. This is because of my import background; importing is staying a step ahead and always looking for the "new" thing, so weddings are a piece of cake.
FLOWERS: Peonies still rank as every bride’s favorite. Brides will even sometimes pick their wedding dates around the availability of peonies.
I AM: Dedicated and determined. Most of my brides love my tenacity. I always tell them, “I’ll do whatever you want, but along the way I will also give you my honest opinion.”
Décor: Vintage pieces are still popular. They can be brought in with so many mixtures: mercury glass, antiques, lace, artifacts, burlap, colored glass and more.
When I meet a bride, I tell them, “If you want me to hold your train and tell you how beautiful you are on your wedding day, find someone else. I’m the type of coordinator who’s in the trenches making sure everything we have worked on has come to fruition.”
COLOR PALETTES: Metallics are really exciting for the next year. Rose gold and sequins and gold shimmer seems to be a winning trio. Rose gold mixed with blush is another favorite for brides. Grey is also still popular, whether mixing it with blush or going it alone. GUEST BOOKS: This year, I was able to re-purpose one of my bride’s parent’s guest books. We added an embossed plate to the cover and the guests signed the same book her parents used for their wedding some 30 years earlier. WEDDING DAY: It seems like Fridays are as popular as Saturdays, and they’re more popular than Sundays. Don’t forget, there are usually good discounts for Friday bookings!
66
I BELIEVE: Hire great vendors and let them do what they do best. MY FAMILY: 3 grown children, 4 grandchildren, 5 sisters, 1 brother and 37 first cousins. That’s my life in a nutshell; my big fat Armenian family. THE WORLD OF WEDDINGS: This industry has changed so much now that we have social media. When I started, weddings were easier to manage. Today’s bride is very sophisticated. She knows what she wants and she has sourced all her leads.

NEONCARROTEVENTS.COM | 949.285.2043
Idea Ingenuity BRIDE: Add a “secret” pop of color to your gown by wearing a colored slip or tulle. It is fun to show it off when you kick up your heels! GROOMSMEN: Just like bridesmaids are wearing different colored dresses, have groomsmen mix and match as well. They can express their individuality with different color ties, shirts and/or jackets. DÉCOR: Consider adding a heart felt thank you note from the bride and groom at each place setting. It can be printed to match your theme, and it’s a great way to make sure that all of your guests know how much you love and appreciate them. FLOWERS: Cascading bouquets for the bride
MUSIC/ENTERTAINMENT: Having a friend with an iPod be your DJ sounds like a budget saving idea, but I can’t tell you how many times I’ve seen a party fall flat because they can’t read the crowd and don’t have the music library to keep people on the dance floor. A professional DJ means a fun reception! LOVE IT: Mixing colors
OVER IT: Matchy matchy
"I love weddings because committing to another person in a wedding ceremony and celebration is a tradition practiced all over the world. It ’s universal. It ’s special."
68
All in the Details MY FAMILY: 11 years ago I met Mr. Rathmann on E-Harmony. He builds robots. I plan parties. We’re perfect together. We adopted a fur baby named Ruby, who you will meet if you stop by my office. ON MY BUCKET LIST: Travel to Sweden and stay at the Ice Hotel MY DESIGN PHILOSOPHY: Find out what my clients like and give them ideas that will bring their vision to life and enhance the venue MY FAVORITE PLACES TO SHOP: Driving Miss Daisy Vintage Market in Mission Viejo MY CLAIM TO FAME: Continuing a wedding reception when the power went out. We cut the cake via cell phone light. I BELIEVE: In marriage equality
3 WORDS OTHERS WOULD USE TO DESCRIBE ME: Happy, creative and loyal
MY BIGGEST PET PEEVE: When wedding guests don’t let the newly married couple have a few uninterrupted minutes to eat their dinner MY FAVORITE DRINK: Gin and tonic with two limes
MY FAVORITE APP: Wedding Fun. It’s a music app that lets you search all kinds of most requested song lists compiled by wedding DJ’s all over the world. Great way to research songs for your special dances.

Idea Ingenuity FASHION: You can’t go wrong with a sleek, form fitting dress. Although I love lace myself, we see it all the time. Sleek designs are always flattering and are different. Pair with an intricate veil for your pop of detail. PHOTOGRAPHY & VIDEO: Always a must! You are going to want to remember every detail of this day. The more you have to look back on the merrier! VOWS: Personal vows are always a favorite in my book! This day is ultimately about the bride and groom. Pretend no one is there and truly share how you feel about your spouse. There is nothing more romantic!
All in the Details A LITTLE BIT ABOUT MY BACKGROUND: Always having an eye for design, I stumbled into the industry after designing and creating events for close family and friends. Eager to learn more and really be knowledgeable about the ins and outs of event planning, I contacted Kelsey Connelly of Kelsey Events, as she was looking for a intern. I interned with Kelsey for a year and learned all I could. Spending each day with an established planner and shadowing her every move was an amazing learning experience. Being able to learn hands-on from the best has really opened my eyes to detail and lit a fire of organization in me. I am always eager to push the design envelope and truly connect with the client’s vision. Spending the last 3 years with Kelsey and planning events alongside her has been nothing less of a phenomenal experience!
COLOR PALETTES: Bold colors! Color is making a comeback. We all love blush and shades of nude, but pair it with a statement color to mix it up.
MY FAVORITE HOLIDAY: Christmas
ENTERTAINMENT: Having a live, experienced performer for the ceremony really kicks up the emotion. Witnessing the bride and groom locking eyes is always breathtaking, but adding a live performer into the mix gives it a personal touch. Your performer can really play off the natural emotions you’re experiencing and make for a smooth, “movie-like” processional.
I LOVE WEDDINGS BECAUSE: Every couple has a different dream. Being able to bring that to life is always breathtaking!
TRANSPORTATION: A staple vintage car no matter the theme or design of your wedding is always a show-stopper. BRIDAL PARTY GIFTS: Give your bridal party a luxurious gift they can use again, such as a robe for the bridesmaids and tie or bowtie for the groomsmen. They are personal gifts that also make for great pictures! HONEYMOON: I have yet to meet a couple that isn’t looking forward to their honeymoon. Make sure you leave a little bit of your budget for this. Even if you’re only going away for the weekend and are staying local, go on a honeymoon. BUDGET: Be realistic. We all want the dream, but sometimes the dream comes at a hefty price. Sometimes less really is more.

MY FAVORITE APP: Instagram
MY FAVORITE STAYCATION: La Costa Resort in Carlsbad
MY DREAM WEDDING: It would include a larger than life tent on a lush green field that is at the edge of a cliff overlooking rolling hills. There would be crystal chandeliers, flower chandeliers and candlelight everywhere you look! I would have mirrored tabletops, an array of luxurious furniture for guest seating, custom bars, romantic lighting, a white monogrammed dance floor and lush, dripping florals and greenery at every square inch! ON MY BUCKET LIST: Jumping out of a plane
I FIND INSPIRATION IN: Everyday beauty. Style is always changing. With today’s technology I can be constantly in the loop of what is in. THE MOST IMPORTANT THING TO ME: My kids MY BIGGEST PET PEEVE: Nail biting

Idea Ingenuity BRIDAL FASHION: Colored hairpieces with a deep blue crystal broach or a coral feather piece COLOR PALETTE: French blue. It’s such a stunning, crisp and elegant color for spring or summer weddings! FAVORS: The best favors are ones guests can enjoy right away. HOT: Champagne bars complete with different fruit, purees, juices and flavors! NOT: Un-groomed grooms. This is your wedding day; look your best! Let the photographer capture every moment amazingly while your guests simply have the time of their lives. OVER IT: Mason jars
"Someone to trust. Someone who cares. A day to remember. Your wedding should be the most fabulous party of your life!" 74
All in the Details MY DESIGN PHILOSOPHY: Creating an event that is solely for the client, and that comes through relationship. I get to know each of my client’s personalities, passions and style. And through that relationship, we build on the design with our experience and expertise, creating a realistic vision by incorporating every aspect of an event, from colors and design to logistics and atmosphere. Every detail is thought out and cohesive. I FIND INSPIRATION IN: Just about anything I see. You just have to have an open mind to be influenced and inspired. YOU’RE ENGAGED! YOU SHOULD KNOW THIS: Before you start anything, get the big picture in mind. Sit down in a quiet, relaxed place. Clear your mind and focus on your dream day. Think of what you want to see, what you want to smell, and the things you want to experience. What are your priorities? Think of themes and colors. Write down keywords of what you want your wedding to be like. After you’re done and confident with your list, keep it in a safe place and refer to it often during the planning process. During the next few months, so many different options, colors and styles, and everyone competing for your attention will bombard you. Brides tend to lose focus on what they originally wanted, what they truly want. Read over your list, and almost always you’ll know what decision to make and what direction to go in. It’s a great way to clear your head and get back to focusing on what really matters. Remember, always have the end goal in mind. SOMETHING MOST PEOPLE DON’T KNOW ABOUT ME: I am involved with the Special Olympics and have a deep love for people with intellectual disabilities. MY FAVORITE HOLIDAY: Christmas

After marrying in 1989, I decided to go into wedding planning. I started by opening a floristry and learning photography. I was also a catering manager for a well known chain of restaurants. Combining my knowledge of experiences in all of these industries led me into wedding & event planning as well as production and design.

CEREMONY: Brides are requesting more unique and lush floral designs for their ceremony alter décor.
MY DREAM WEDDING: A fairy tale with a few of my favorite things! Live your fantasy dream for one very special day!
COLOR PALETTES: Black and white fused with Tiffany blue is popular and has a contemporary flair! Also, the royal color palette (Kate & William) of blushes and ivories still remain a timeless favorite.
MY DESIGN PHILOSOPHY: Take the concept and desires of all parties and make them happen!
FASHION: Vera Wang has a new line at David’s Bridal that brides can afford, and they love it! Her designs are so stunning! Also, vintage lace, sexy, low neck/back, body-hugging mermaid gowns are a popular style. FLOWERS: Baby’s breath is back!
LIGHTING: Furniture that is lit from within is fun and effective for reception décor and adds a modern, contemporary flair. CAKE: The naked cake, a wedding cake with a bare-minimal frosting coverage, is perfect for the couple who doesn’t like heaps of frosting. PHOTO BOOTHS: Are still frequently requested, but boothless sittings with themed backdrops have been popular as well! BRIDAL PARTY GIFTS: Brides have been presenting beautiful robes to their bridesmaids on day-of for preparation! HONEYMOON: New Zealand and Italy are popular for healthy budgets. Mexico has been popular for more modest budgets because there are all inclusive resort honeymoon vacations. DESTINATION WEDDINGS: Cancun is huge for 2016 weddings! GUEST LISTS: Are growing for 2016 (180 to 400 guests) LOVE IT: Family traditions woven into wedding themes OVER IT: Candy bars and favors

3 WORDS THAT DESCRIBE MY STYLE: Open to anything!
I FIND INSPIRATION IN: Specific desires of my bride and groom I LOVE WEDDINGS BECAUSE: A wedding is a day, but a marriage is a lifetime!
YOU’RE ENGAGED! YOU SHOULD KNOW THIS: Set a budget, collaborate on your styles and retain trusted vendors that have only your event’s best interest at heart, particularly monetarily. MY FAVORITE WEDDING VENUES: Unique private estates and museums as well as major resort hotels MY FAVORITE PLACE TO SHOP: South Coast Plaza. They have all the main flagship stores! MY FAVORITE RESTAURANT OF ALL TIME: Mastro’s and The Vintage Steak House. Consistently phenomenal dining! THE BEST DAY OF MY LIFE WAS: When I married 26 years ago and when my amazing children were born! IF MONEY WERE NO OBJECT, I WOULD: Spread wealth around the world in the countries where it is needed the most. SOMETHING MOST PEOPLE DON’T KNOW ABOUT ME: I’m very down to earth, warm and loving. THE KJ EXPERIENCE EVENT PLANNING & PRODUCTION
THIS IS HOW IT CAME TO BE: My wife and I planned our own wedding of 200 people without the assistance of a "professional" planner. As a result, family and friends who attended our New Years Eve nuptials asked us to assist them with their upcoming events. We have a large family and a lot of friends, so dinner parties and holiday celebrations are regular at our home. In 2010, I was presented with an opportunity from a family friend to assist him with an event. We needed the money, and it was the first time someone offered to pay for what I usually did for free, and thus, The KJ Experience was born! It's only by God's grace and favor that KJE is here because none of this was ever on my radar. My wife and I had gone to college and accepted careers on a completely different path, but when God has a bigger plan for your life than the one you had for yourself, you accept it and step into His purpose, so that's what I did.

All in the Details
FLOWERS & DÉCOR: Your design concept of flowers, decor and lighting will set the overall ambiance of the event. Make a statement with your selections and create a memorable experience for your guests.
A LITTLE BIT ABOUT MY BACKGROUND: I am married to my best friend, Katherine, who is my partner in life and in love. I have a background in technical engineering, so the production aspect of KJE setups and floor designs come easy to me. When my wife and I planned our wedding without help from anyone, I realized how good I was. We couldn't afford a planner at the time, so I recruited my childhood friends to help me set up the church and reception hall while my wife relaxed and prepared to meet me at the end of the aisle. She had given me her instructions and the supplies of what she wanted it to look like, and she told me it better look like she did it.
DESSERT BAR:: Your dessert bar should represent your personality. Include elements of your favorite snacks like donuts, gourmet popcorn or mini sweet potato pies and peach cobblers, not just the goodies that match your color scheme. PHOTOGRAPHY & VIDEO: Onsite photo printing and same-day video editing makes for great reception entertainment. A photo montage of the happy couple or a video tribute from one spouse to the other is fun and enjoyed by everyone. BUDGET: Creating a realistic budget will save you time and stress. Make your event fit within your budget instead of making your budget fit into your event. HOT: Ghost chairs and clear chiavaris
NOT: Loose fitting chair covers with sashes LOVE IT: The suspended wedding cake
OVER IT: Traditional white wedding cake. Try a salted caramel or German chocolate instead.
" My design philosophy is that simplicity is the ultimate sophistication, but if less is not more for you, then go big or go home!" 78
THE MOST IMPORTANT THING TO ME: My relationship with God A FAVORITE WEDDING THAT I HAVE PLANNED: I have two favorites, my cousin's wedding at Trump National Golf Course overlooking the Pacific Ocean, and my long-time friend's vineyard wedding at Ponte Family Estate Winery. Both were summer destination weddings since the couples live out of state. THE BEST DAY OF MY LIFE WAS: My wedding day, New Years Eve, 2008 I BELIEVE: In taking advantage of your opportunities
SOMETHING MOST PEOPLE DON’T KNOW ABOUT ME: I was invited to practice pre-season with the L.A. Clippers, but I declined the invitation. 3 WORDS OTHERS WOULD USE TO DESCRIBE ME: Determined, passionate and motivated ON MY BUCKET LIST: To visit the pyramids in Egypt
DESERTED ISLAND, THREE OBJECTS, GO: A motor boat with a full tank of gas, flares and a cell phone MY FAVORITE SPORTS TEAM: Dallas Cowboys!

A LITTLE BIT ABOUT MY BACKGROUND: My degrees are in Political Science and Communication from SDSU, and my background is in political and corporate events and public relations/marketing. Transitioning to weddings and special events was an easy move so I could spread my wings creatively and be my own boss.

Idea Ingenuity BEAUTY: I can’t stress enough the importance of having hair and makeup professionally done for every woman in the bridal party (mothers too!). Pros know how to style for photos and it is really noticeable when someone doesn’t have it done. It makes a big difference. COLOR PALETTE: Anything not blush and gold. As pretty as it is, it has been way oversaturated in the market over the past few years. PHOTO BOOTHS: SloMo photo booths are so much fun!
GUEST LIST: Anyone you would invite to dinner at your house and be willing to spend $150+ on gets the green light. If anyone doesn’t fall into this category, really think about why you want them there and if it fits into your budget. HOT: Hand-calligraphy details
NOT: Over-programmed receptions (let your guests dance and enjoy) LOVE IT: Anything personal to the couple
OVER IT: Overly rustic events and death by Pinterest (I don’t know which is worse!) ENTERTAINMENT: Don’t just limit yourself to one or two choices where music is concerned. I’m a big fan of having varied types of music at weddings and having it progress with each portion of the wedding day. Start with soft and romantic music at the ceremony, add more energy/musicians at cocktail hour, then end the reception with a packed dance floor and ether a live band or a DJ. Music plays a big part into the overall wedding day experience. WEDDING TRADITIONS: I always advise my couples to only do something if it truly means something to you, not just because it is a “tradition.” Weddings are a memorable experience because couples choose to personalize their day and make it their own in every aspect. If a tradition doesn’t speak to you, don’t feel obligated to do it.
80
All in the Details MY FAMILY: I have been married for 12 years to an amazingly supportive partner and loving father to our 5 and 7 year old children. We also have 3 big dogs, so we have quite a full house! YOU’RE ENGAGED! YOU SHOULD KNOW THIS: Put together an overall budget cap first. Then, you can determine your venue and size of your guest list. Your costs are directly related to the number of people you anticipate coming and typically food and beverage are going to be the majority of that cost. It is all proportional and little things add up quickly. If you have your heart set on certain things, be prepared to have a flexible (i.e. bigger) budget if trimming your guest list is not an option. MY DESIGN PHILOSOPHY: Has 3 key elements: collaboration, cohesion and purpose I FIND INSPIRATION IN: Architecture, fashion and interior design magazines I LOVE WEDDINGS BECAUSE: Each one is truly unique and offers a new opportunity to tell the love story of each couple in one single event. By bringing together the colors, smells, tastes, textures and sounds that reflect the couple, the result is a captivating experience created specifically with them in mind. And, to watch all of that unfold seamlessly on the wedding day is the most rewarding part. MY FAVORITE RESTAURANT OF ALL TIME: Nobu on Oahu
THE BEST DAY OF MY LIFE WAS: Having my dream wedding in La Jolla. Having my kids is a very close second! IF MONEY WERE NO OBJECT, I WOULD: Buy a ranch to rescue animals and buy a winery 3 WORDS OTHERS WOULD USE TO DESCRIBE ME: Loyal, driven and visionary MY FAVORITE SPORTS TEAM: Padres baseball (I used to work for them, too!)

Prior to starting my own company, I worked on a wide variety of luxurious events for high-profile clientele in the US and abroad: weddings, parties, baby showers, mitzvahs, corporate events, product launches and many more. I love collaborating with my clients and creating events that they and their guests will truly enjoy and remember for years to come. Known for my friendliness, strong organizational skills, and exacting attention to detail, I strive to minimize my clients’ stress so that they can get back to enjoying the moment.

Idea Ingenuity CEREMONY: I love having different styles of seating at wedding ceremonies. PHOTOGRAPHY: If you are traditional, skip the first look. Blindfold your groom and take cute photos! WEDDING FAVORS: The more personal the wedding favors are, the more meaningful they will be for your guests. Pick something fun, sweet, or silly that reflects you and your significant other as a couple. BUDGET: Don’t be afraid to ask your coordinator to help you stay on budget. We are here to help you! TRANSPORTATION: I love that Uber can now be pre-arranged for wedding guests and that the bride and groom can create a promo code for the wedding. Everyone’s first ride is $20 off. FLOWERS: For an upcoming wedding, one of our venues does not allow flower petals to be dropped on the floor. We’re having the flower girls hand out long stemmed roses as they walk down the aisle instead, and it is going to be adorable! ENTERTAINMENT: Hire an amazing band for your wedding reception and switch to a fun DJ later in the evening. Remember to make sure you have the best MC to guide everyone through the entire reception. GUEST LIST: Host a farewell brunch the morning after the wedding for your out of town guests before they fly home. Remember to personalize the brunch with custom napkins and a cute “thank you mimosa” for added flair. COLOR PALETTE: Grey is taking over the wedding world and I am loving it! FASHION: Be cautious when going bridal gown shopping and only take a few people with you. Sometimes too many people at one appointment can be overwhelming. The only opinion that truly matters on that day is your own because if you feel beautiful everyone will see it and think so too.

MY BIGGEST PET PEEVE: When my sisters wear my clothes and don’t put them back in my closet! I BELIEVE: The shot of the groom’s face when he sees his bride walking down the aisle is one of the best shots photographers can take during a wedding.

Field of Dreams
nearby destination weddings and honeymoons at rancho la puerta rancholapuerta.com
COURTESY OF RANCHO LA PUERTA
In 1940, wellness gurus Edmond and Deborah Szekely had a revelation, “If we build it, they will come.” And so began the modern fitness evolution. Rancho La Puerta became the first health spa as we know them today, and over the past 75 years they have earned a healthy resume, including the #1 ranking by Travel + Leisure as the top destination spa in the world four out of the past five years. What started out in a windowless adobe “house” amongst the vast desert fields of Baja California with a wondrous view of Mt. Kuchumaa, a mountain held sacred by Native Americans for thousands of years, is now a 3,000-acre world-renowned destination for those seeking health, fitness, relaxation, and notably romance. The Ranch is still operated by the Szekely family today and is richly ingrained in Mexico’s deep-rooted traditions of family and hospitality. Notable areas of The Ranch’s growth include the 83 sprawling casitas decorated with fine folk art and authentic Otomi textiles, La Cocina Que Canta culinary center and cooking school, an unparalleled 6-acre organic farm, a top-notch spa, several gyms, structures and pools that seamlessly blend into its exquisitely manicured acres, and lucky for you, its new offerings for weddings and special events. The options are seemingly endless for The Ranch’s truly special experiences that take you from pre “I will” to post “I Do.” Destination Wedding Weekend Rancho La Puerta is the ultimate in destination weddings! If you are looking for an intimate destination wedding with your closest family and friends, without the added time and costs for travel, the three or four night stay for you and your guests would be a perfect option. Your wedding weekend may be one of the few times in your lives where you have everyone you truly love all together in one place at one time. The Ranch’s inherent qualities help to make that experience all the more special. With its “unplugged” mantra, all-inclusive amenities, family style dinners and variety of activities offered, there is something for everyone to do and yet still be together. You and your guests can partake in the array of fitness classes available for any level (including the popular cardio drumming); attend the Salsa y Salsa event where you will not only learn to make delicious salsa, but dance it as well; enjoy an exhilarating morning hike to La Cocina Que Canta for a healthy and tasty organic breakfast; hone your cooking skills in a hands-on cooking class and delight in the fruits of your labor; luxuriate in a hot stone facial followed by a rooftop outdoor spa dip and shower; indulge in wine tasting of the surprisingly phenomenal wines from the Valle de Guadalupe with sommelier Alberto Cortez; enjoy select breakfasts poolside during the splendid, gorgeous mornings; and best of all, revel in Manuel’s dance classes for the most fun you’ve ever had exercising. Perhaps you are dreaming of a destination wedding with a larger guest list and unique weekend activity options. The less- traveled, clean and somewhat sleepy border town of Tecate and its neighboring Valle de Guadalupe beckon. Guests may choose to stay at nearby Santuario Diegueno Hotel and visit The Baja’s magnificent wine region in the days before or after. While wine touring, dinner at Finco Altozano is a must. The outdoor country setting of Tijuana Chef Javier Plascencia’s restaurant is brilliant with a menu to match. For an ultra-casual meal, the tacos at El Amigo alone are worth the trip.

The Wedding Day Whether you and your guests are staying at the resort or coming in for the day, the natural wedding setting is a true sanctuary. You can choose to get married and host your reception outdoors amongst the tranquil gardens with sacred mountain views, perhaps with a Mariachi band at dinner under the arbor of twinkling lights, or within the grand rancho ambiance of the tiled great room and courtyards. Either way, on-site wedding planner Maura Montoya and Chef Denise Roa will help make your wedding day a most memorable one. Chef Denise is as creative as she is talented. Of course, she reaps the fruits of their long-time gardener’s labor, but her innovation shows when she cooks and plates a radish to look like a scallop and taste as delightful. Healthy never tasted so delicious. She will cater to any allergy or dietary restrictions with finesse, and although sustainably caught seafood is magnificently prepared, it is often the organic garden-to-table produce that is the star on the plate. Honeymoons and Elopements Honeymoons aren’t only for the just-married. A pre-wedding moon allows you to de-stress and reconnect before the big day. Either way, a week at Rancho La Puerta will start your marriage off in a healthy and rejuvenating way – for both the mind and body, as well as romantically and spiritually. The unplugged life on The Ranch reminds guests to live in the moment, to seize the experience of being with our loved ones in all of nature’s beauty. There is wifi in some areas, if you are so inclined, but it is limited so that you won’t be all-consumed.

Endless Experiences The opportunities are endless for events at The Ranch that give you quality time with a loved one or two, or six. Saturday at the Ranch is a great opportunity to spend a quality day with your mom or your bridesmaids. During the monthly scheduled events, guests are able to enjoy the amenities for a day, including spa time and massage, a nature hike, fitness classes and a culinary cooking experience. Like most of their guests, once you find your way to The Ranch the first time, you will return time and time again. From weddings to honeymoons, to engagement parties or a day with your maids, Rancho La Puerta is bar-none when it comes to fulfilling experiences that nourish the mind, body and soul and providing an environment for investing in each other. Getting There When people think of crossing the border, it is often assumed that means Tijuana. However, Rancho La Puerta sits just a few short miles from the clean and easy Tecate border crossing, which is only 40 miles from the San Diego Airport. You and your guests may drive across, or you may drive to the border and have resort drivers pick you up and escort you through. Another convenient option, especially for a bit larger weddings, is to arrange for Rancho La Puerta’s charter bus to transport your guests to and from the San Diego Airport or a designated San Diego hotel. Any option is extremely convenient and seamless, as Rancho La Puerta has been transporting guests for three quarters of a century. The Details Minimum 25 guests and maximum 120 guests for wedding-only packages. Minimum of 8 guests for destination wedding weekend packages at The Ranch. Elopement packages also available. Couple and all guests must have valid passport at time of travel.

An Edible Journey An interview with 24 Carrots 24carrots.com
STUDIO EMP
our specialty is: We believe in the complete guest experience. From the minute guests arrive to your wedding, they’re attended to. Special touches come standard for us, such as a welcome beverage, bride and groom service during cocktail hour, or complimentary cake cutting. We make sure that we create an atmosphere in which people are blown away by the excellent food and the quality of service.
our food philosophy: We believe that food is a journey and we want to take you along for the ride. We offer a variety of outstanding cuisine that we all personally love and have sampled ourselves. And because everybody’s taste buds differ, we don’t limit ourselves to the standard menus. Our chefs are always up for a challenge and we’re always looking for ways to expand our culinary horizons.
on-trend food ideas for 2016 weddings: Produce is finally getting to be the star of the meal instead of just a side, and it’s one of our favorite ways to incorporate a lot of color and flavor into the dining experience. Our current favorite is the grilled butternut squash steak topped with roasted poblano and corn relish, queso fresco, and fresh coriander.
if you could suggest three courses for a couple to serve at their wedding, what would they be? Compressed watermelon salad: Pickled and compressed heirloom watermelon with balsamic reduction, basil emulsion and sea salt foam
We’re also seeing a revival of pairing menus, where we complement each dish with a cocktail or wine course (maybe even whiskey!). These are typically requested by couples who want the reception to be a truly exceptional dining experience for their guests. trending ways to elevate the presentation of meals: Couples are becoming more aware of food presentation and making it a priority when finalizing menu selections. One of the best ways to ensure a clean and classic plate is a compressed dish, such as our compressed salad of baby arugula. It’s a long standing favorite, but we’re thrilled to see it embraced often. a neat late-night wedding snack idea: A spiked coffee or hot chocolate station is always one that goes over well with guests. It can be as caffeinated (or as boozy) as you’d like!
136
Peppercorn-crusted filet mignon with café de Paris butter: Potatoes dauphinoise, broccolini with extra virgin olive oil and crushed chili flakes Decadent sea salt caramel chocolate torte: Nutella fuilletine crunch, bitter hazelnut biscuit, dark chocolate sabayon mousse, sea salt caramel cream, draped in nutella ganache, chocolate pralines and raspberry champagne reduction what is your best advice for couples looking for their perfect caterer? Firstly, take time to enjoy being engaged. It’s easy to get overwhelmed at this time that should be such a joyous occasion. Once you get an idea of your wedding wish list, call us and trust the professionals to guide you along. We get to plan weddings every single day and we want nothing but the best for your big day. After all, we’re in this together.

favorite, creative ways to display food at stations: At Jay’s, we know that visual appeal is key to the success of events and that absolutely includes food station presentation. Delicious and beautiful cuisine should be complemented by an equally enticing environment. Our favorite display approaches include implementing custom signage as well as adding natural décor touches like fresh florals alongside interesting trays and containers that diverge from the expected “catering” serveware. unique dessert ideas: We are dessert fanatics that thrive on creativity in the bakery. Our torched crème brûlée kouign amann is an unusual and decadent sweet that is also an entertaining experience for guests. The outer layer is flaky, buttery and croissant-like, while the center is filled with a velvety crème brûlée custard that is torched to caramelized perfection on the spot. We also love our cookies and milk shots and build-yourown s’mores station. trending ways to elevate the presentation of meals: Hands-on stations and plenty of guest inspired options! We realize that people love participating in the catering process. That’s why so many of our menu options are stations that include an interactive element. Whether it’s picking toppings, adding final touches on site, or concocting a cocktail with our array of herbs, syrups and fruits, we want to make sure that our guests’ experience with our food is tasty, beautiful, and fun. unique flavors to incorporate to wow guests: Incorporating an unconventional twist on classic dishes is a surefire way to impress your guests and their taste buds. We like to explore a global fusion approach by adding Indian, Korean, Persian, and other international flavors to traditional cuisine.
138
a favorite wedding menu you created this year: One of our favorite wedding menus we created this year is a custom vegan menu that contains an array of delectable eats, including tofu bahn mi sliders and corn chowder shooters topped with chipotle romanesco. our food philosophy: At Jay’s, food is the centerpiece that holds the limbs of our operation together. When it comes to quality cuisine, there’s no room for sacrifice. We always ensure that taste is our priority. Once a dish is cooked to perfection, then we focus on the beauty of vibrant presentation. That’s why all of our food is made fresh and from scratch. We insist on using sustainable ingredients whenever possible and consider delivering simple, clean foods with bold flavors to be our mission. While our tradition provides us with an excellent foundation and knowledge base, we also consider ourselves innovative, adapting with the times and trends. what is your best advice for couples looking for their perfect caterer? Choose a catering company that understands your vision and can execute it well. Don’t settle by limiting yourself to a preset menu, instead, find a creative caterer that is inspired by amazing ingredients and your event concept. At Jay’s, our sales team doesn’t just take orders. They are trained and experienced event specialists. Their role is to get to know our couples and their taste before helping them create the perfect menu for their wedding. Our focus is always food and people centric, so we make certain that everything we serve is exceptional and that everyone we work with has an excellent experience.

The Beauty of a Bride By Marissa Boucher, Owner of The Boudoir Divas theboudoirdivas.com
While boudoir photography was introduced as the “sexiest gift for the groom”TM not too long ago, this new trend took off rapidly as more and more grooms were stunned speechless by this surprise gift. As a photographer who was part of this new movement, it was fun to see it gain momentum. Word spread as groomsmen watched the groom’s eyes get wide with amazement as they saw him open this secret book just minutes before his bride walked down the aisle toward him. It was quite the new hot topic, and everyone understood why. Boudoir was once considered risqué and taboo, but it has now been converted into what we love it to be — a private celebration of the beauty of intimacy within a couple. And not just for the couple as a unit, individually for the bride herself as well. It’s a way to celebrate and document what has always been one of the most special traditions in womanhood, the season of wedding preparation. It looks much different these days than it did even a hundred years ago, with pinterest, wedding magazines, and going down the #wedding hashtag rabbit trails, but the overall anticipation and tradition remains. While our prep also looks different, the sweet sentiment swirling in a bride’s heart is all the same as it ever was. She radiates with the hopes, wishes and dreams this memorable time inspires. And as photographers, we love that we get to celebrate and document the bride aglow with anticipation and rosy with the frantic pace that accompanies this season. It’s wonderful to see the bride’s experience play out. She comes to our studio nervous but enjoys this confidenceboosting experience more than she ever thinks she will. While feeling better in her own skin, she romances her groom with this sweet gesture. It’s a win-win. We feel our job is to enter into that space with her, inspired to create something that represents her beautifully. At the risk of sounding entirely cheesy, we boudoir photographers feed off the hopes that are quietly spilling from our brides’ hearts, and I don’t think there is anything more a photographer loves than this in a subject. So much of the wedding prep is about tasks, to-do lists, and deadlines. We love that a boudoir session is a time to slow down, tune out the details, and to step into this season by being present. We highly encourage you to do this for your spouse-to-be but even more so for yourself. Look for a highly qualified boudoir photographer, read their testimonials, look for consistency in their galleries of images, and most importantly, get a sense that you will feel comfortable with them. You won’t regret it!

love story
They met in Chongqing, China, in 2005. Kevin was Lulin's English tutor, helping her prepare for SAT. They started dating a year later. Kevin crawled to her in the bedroom one November morning in 2014 with a ring, (before she'd had any coffee,) and asked “Bug (he nicknamed her Snuggle Bug), will you marry me?” To which she replied “Yes, of course!"
love note
Their fondest wedding moment was the first look.

Andrew proposed to Kristen while on a trip to Costa Rica. After spending the first day of their trip exploring, Andrew took Kristen to a private beach and asked for her hand under the stars. The rest of the trip was spent celebrating their engagement!
love note
As a surprise for Andrew, Kristen had the opening song from Forest Gump, his favorite movie, play as she walked down the aisle. The addition of this sweet sentiment created a special moment for just the two of them to share.

When Kimberly visited her cousin at USC, they went to a party thrown by Alan and hit it off. They went their separate ways for graduate school, but picked up right where they left off when Alan reached out to Kimberly as he finished school.
love note
It was difficult for Kimberly to choose a favorite moment of the wedding - she felt like a princess the entire day! Given how nervous she was, she was glad she did a first look. Seeing and being alone with Alan before the wedding really made a difference. Her nerves subsided and they could just laugh and have fun while taking pictures.

Lily and Matt met at UCLA Anderson. Lily was organizing a student alumni event for the Entrepreneur Association. Matt wanted to meet in person to organize the event and the rest is history. To propose, Matt secretly rented a yacht in Newport Harbor and filled it with Lily's closest friends and family from all over the world. Separately, Matt took Lily out in the same harbor on a gondola; Lily had no idea about the yacht. Matt popped the question at the same time their song came blasting off the yacht. Lily was awe struck to look up and see all her closest friends and family. It was the happiest day of her life (until the wedding)!
love note
The couple’s favorite wedding moment was their first dance - it set the tone perfectly for the rest of the party. Lily did a back flip and Matt was break dancing to their song: You Make Me by Avicii.
