Sno-Park is a Cal-Trans program to provide you with a place to park your car near popular snow sport locations so you can participate in cross-country skiing, snowmobiling and general snow play. Permit fees pay for snow removal, signs, sanitary and other facilities. Annual permits ($25) and day permits ($5) are sold at most Northern California and Nevada AAA offices (for AAA members only); in South Shore at the Chamber of Commerce, Kirkwood X-C & Echo Summit (permits sold on site), Lake Tahoe Adventures, Sportsman Sporting Goods, Tahoe Blue Star, West Shore Sports, The Back Country, The Truckee Ranger Station, Tahoe Heritage Foundation, Sierra Mountain Sports and US Forest Service; at North Tahoe at Alpenglow and Tahoe Dave’s Skis and Boards and in Truckee at the Donner Memorial State Park, Tahoe Dave’s Skis and Boards, Boreal Inn and Mountain Hardware. When parking in Nevada, you do not need a permit, but you must make sure you are parked off the road. In both states park only in designated and plowed areas. Be sure to dress warmly, bring food, hot drinks and water. Remove your trash.
