Yellowstone National Park

Buffalo Bill Center of the West

It’s a Wonderland. Old Faithful and the majority of the world’s geysers are preserved here. They are the main reason the park was established in 1872 as America’s first national park – an idea that spread worldwide. A mountain wild land, home to grizzly bears, wolves, and herds of bison and elk, the park is the core of one of the last, nearly intact, natural ecosystems in the Earth’s temperate zone. The park encompasses 2.2 million acres of scenic beauty. Three of Yellowstone’s five entrances are in Montana: the North Entrance just south of Gardiner (Hwy. 89); the Northeast Entrance just south of Cooke City/Silver Gate (via the Beartooth Hwy.); and the West Entrance at West Yellowstone. The South Entrance is through Grand Teton National Park, north of Jackson, WY and Cody, WY is the closest gateway community to the East Entrance. Please see the regional map in this brochure for more road and entrance information. Lodging Reservations: (866) 439-7375 or 1-866-GEYSERLAND (439-7375) nps.gov/yell

The Center is widely regarded as America’s finest Western museum. The Center consists of five museums (Buffalo Bill, Plains Indian, Whitney Western Art, Draper Natural History, and Cody Firearms) and the McCracken Research Library. 720 Sheridan Avenue, Cody, WY (307) 587-4771 CenteroftheWest.org

Cody Mural Historical Site The site offers a powerful glimpse into the western expansion of Mormon pioneers in the late 1800s. In the Pioneer Museum, you can also see items brought by Mormon pioneers more than 100 years ago as they settled the rugged Wyoming Big Horn Basin area. You should also see the Cody Mural, a mid-century masterpiece created by the talented artist Edward T. Grigware that took nearly two years to complete. Open June 1 – September 15. 1719 Wyoming Avenue, Cody, WY (307) 587-3290 CodyMural.com

Grand Teton National Park The Teton Range rises above a scene rich with extraordinary wildlife, pristine lakes, and alpine terrain. These mountains led to the creation of Grand Teton National Park where you can explore over two hundred miles of trails, float the Snake River or enjoy the serenity of this remarkable place. GTNP is north of Jackson, WY and south of Yellowstone National Park and provides an entrance to that park. nps.gov/grte

Grizzly & Wolf Discovery Center The Center offers every visitor to Yellowstone a chance to uniquely experience the world of grizzly bears and gray wolves. All the animals at the Center are unable to survive in the wild and serve as ambassadors for their wild counterparts.
