SPRING I 2015 - WEEK 4
STUDENT SPOTLIGHT! Every week we will interview two CESL students. If you are willing to be interviewed, talk to the student workers in the Student Learning Center.
Name:
Yinhua Jin
Hometown:
Jilin, China
Level:
50
Major:
Landscape Design
What do you like to do in your free time in Tucson? Most of the time I’m busy doing homework and studying for exams, but whenever I do have free time I like to go shopping and watch movies. What is your favorite movie? Wedding Ringer. What is your favorite sport? Badminton. What are some of the places that you would like to visit in the future? And why? I really do not have any specific places, but I would love to visit japan one day. Because I hear my friends say that it is a nice place for shopping and the food there is so delicious.
Interviewed by
 Muath Alziadat
Why did you choose Tucson to continue your studies? First, I think Tucson is a good place to study because it is so quiet, and second the University of Arizona is a good school. What are some of the things that you miss the most about home? Actually, I miss many things, but my family and friends are the things that I have missed the most. What are your plans in the future after graduating from the university? I want to be a professional designer and work in Australia. Describe yourself in one word? Shy.

SPRING I 2015 - WEEK 4
STUDENT SPOTLIGHT! Name:
Samilson Posso
Nickname:
Sam
Hometown:
Luanda, Angola
Age:
18
How long have you been in the U.S.?
Since last June, so a little over 6 months.
How do you like it so far? I like it; it is good. I like it for studying, but it is small so there is not a lot to do. Yeah, especially if you are under the age of 21. Do you know what you will do after CESL? Yes, I want to study physics at the University. I studied computer sciences in Angola and built my own computer, but I have received a scholarship for physics so I will do that. I wanted to build a social network like how Mark Zuckerberg built Facebook. Have you been anywhere else in the U.S.? Yeah, Houston, Texas. I was only there for 3 days because that is where I arrived internationally. It is hot, but a nice city. I did not have a chance to do a lot while I was there, but I got to see the mall. The malls in Houston were bigger and with more stores than those in Angola, and the prices are better in Texas than in Angola. The capital (Luanda) must be very big and Tucson must feel very small to you!
Interviewed by Ann Turinawe
Yeah, it is quieter here in Tucson as well. We have a few cities that are the size of Tucson in Angola, but the capital is much bigger. However, it can be very expensive to live there. I hear it is one of the most expensive countries in in the world to live. Wow, I had no idea. Have you traveled anywhere else besides the United States? Yes, I have been to Portugal with my mom to visit my aunt. The city is very nice and clean, and the people are very respectful. The city feels very open because there are not a lot of buildings. Did you do anything cool while you were there? I watched Benfica play Sporting in the big stadium. Benfica is my favorite team and they won that day. Cool, what else besides soccer do you like doing? I play piano, I have been playing piano for 3 years and I am learning how to play the guitar right now. I also enjoy swimming and I write my own blog about things happening in Angola. You sound like a very well rounded person! If there was anything you could do or have not done, what would that be? I want to help poor people do better in life. CESL WEEKLY NEWSLETTER
