SPRING II 2015 - WEEK 2
STUDENT SPOTLIGHT! Every week we will interview two CESL students. If you are willing to be interviewed, talk to the student activities assistants in the SLC (CESL 209)
Name: Hometown:
Osamah Aljohani Yanbu, Saudi Arabia
Level: Age:
50 26
Hi Osamah. What brings you to Tucson? I am here to complete my study. I completed my degree in pharmacy in Saudi Arabia. It took six years of study, but I would like to complete the Pharmacy Residence Program here to become a Pharm.D. What interests you in this? For pharmacy, usually you have a pharmacist and a doctor, and before the pharmacist would only fill the prescription that the doctor prescribes. But a Pharm. D. will go with the doctor and the doctor will diagnose but the pharmacist will prescribe and sometimes can even diagnose because you have studied medicine for at least six years. What are some of your hobbies? I play soccer. I also like to throw snowballs at Muath. I play pingpong and I like to try anything new! What is something new you have tried here? Paintball. I liked it a lot and I would like to do it again. I played with CESL against Muath and I won every time so it was really fun. What is a good prank you play on your roommate? Sometimes when I am studying or watching TV and he is making noise, I will put him on the balcony and lock the door for maybe 30 minutes. Also sometimes if I try to wake him and he does not wake I will spray him with a squirt gun. Do you have a good English word or quote that you like? "People need to know how much you care before they care how much you know." Osamah.
Interviewed by DJ Nixon
If you could talk with anyone, past, present, or future, who would it be? Einstein. I just want to ask him "How do you think?" He was a crazy scientist who changed the world. People are always saying Tucson is such a boring place (it isn't true); help me change their mind. Well you can't say a place is boring or not boring because it depends on the person. Even hanging out with your friends and going to the desert will be fun if you are not a boring person. But also the CESL activities are always really fun. If you weren't in the medical field what would you want to do? A scientist of physics so that I can change the world. I love to create something new and when I see something I am always asking how can I make that better. If you could change the world in any way, what would it be? I will eliminate all smoking. Tobacco, hookah, anything that can be smoked I would like to get rid of it. One word to describe yourself?

SPRING II 2015 - WEEK 2
STUDENT SPOTLIGHT! Name:
Khaled Alalyaquot
From:
Kuwait
Age:
Age is just a number, baby
Level:
60
Hi Khaled, thanks for doing this interview. First question: What is your major? Petroleum engineering. This is all about “black gold”. And what does a petroleum engineer do? Studies petroleum and how to make it into fuel... Tar.. I want to be a petroleum engineer for the flooze (money). Interviewed by DJ Nixon!
How long have you been in Tucson and what do you think about this place? I have been here 6 lovely months and it is a very cool, safe city and it is good for studying.
What are some of your hobbies? I like making bird noises, and bothering teachers with my bird noises. I also like watching TV series, action and thriller series such as The Walking Dead. This show is my life. Also I like to go to the gym. In these 6 months I eat everything but have lost 13 kilos. I have a saying: "Work hard, eat hard!" Great motto! Do you know how to cook?
No. I'm terrible. I get very angry when I cook.
Where do you see yourself in 10 years? Well I will have a Ph.D. in petroleum engineering. I will open my own restaurant maybe in Dubai or Kuwait, similar to T.G.I.F.'s or Chili's but better quality. I will be a very huge and fit guy but I will not use steroids! I will have only 6 children in this order 2 boys, a girl, 2 boys and another girl. My third son will be named Mishal. I will let them eat but not work at the restaurant. Okay. What do you miss about home? I miss my family, my brother and sister. And also my twin brother. What super power would you choose? I would have a 6th-sense—like Sherlock Holmes. This means I know everything that I should know. With this power I will control the world and help everyone. I want everyone to be more like me. Who inspires you?
I inspire myself. By the way, I'm not selfish!
