Escape the heat by heading up the mountain! p. 3
Nearly 40 students, teachers and workers went to the Desert Museum this Saturday.
CESL Goes to the Desert Museum Last week, CESL took a trip to Tucson’s famous Arizona-Sonora Desert Museum. Even with the temperature in the triple digits, this group found a way to stay cool: by sticking their hands into a pool full of stingrays at the Stingray Touch exhibit. (No students or stingrays were harmed in the production of this newsletter.) In addition, the museum has 230 native mammals, reptiles, amphibians and insects, so the crew was definitely busy!

Level: 2 Hometown: Fujian, China
Major: Cultural Media Interviewed by: Haibo Sun
So far, how do you feel about studying at CESL? It is really different than the Chinese education system. It doesn’t matter if it’s in-class or after class, teachers are always willing to answer all questions, and each of them has a different teaching style that helps me to have a better understanding of English. I think this way is really helpful for me to memorize key concepts. Teachers are really nice because they have a lot of experience with teaching international students. What is your favorite class? Why? Oral communication is my favorite, because it challenges me to speak out and push myself to communicate with other students from all around the world. After I fully understand everything, it is really helpful for my daily life conversations. What is your favorite club? DJ club is my favorite. I can learn how to remix songs on my personal device. It is also a good way to help me relax. Which type of sports do you like? I like to work out at gym, because it makes me stronger and makes me look
Haojie doin’ work better.
Do you have any things you like to do beyond that? I like photography, because I can catch a wonderful moment by taking pictures. As I understand, each photo stands for a history that you can find some stories from it; I like to take pictures that not only capture memorable moments for myself, but I also like to contribute my own effort to share cultural diffusion for society. What do you think about the activities at CESL? I love it! Get Air! and the water park are the most interesting activities for me. I can find some childhood memories from Get Air!, and I can cool down in the hot weather and have fun at the water park. Those activities are also help me to explore Arizona. Yes, it is a good way to cool off in the hot weather by going to the water park. Is there anything else that you want to say to us? I feel really good so far. CESL helps me to speak out and be confident. I think I can improve my English faster with all the help from CESL.

And to finish, what advice would you give to other students at CESL and others who want to come study here, so they succeed in their classes and learn English? To other students at CESL and others who want to come study here, the advice I would give to them is to study hard, have commitment with their studies, set goals, but also have fun and enjoy being at CESL because CESL is fun and is a great family.
