FALL 1 2014 - WEEK 6

STUDENT SPOTLIGHT! Every week we will interview two CESL Students. If you are willing to be interviewed, talk to the Student Workers in the Student Learning Center

Name: Yunan Han Where are you from? I am from China, the city I am from is the Capital of my province, and it’s a pretty big city. What is your home city like? Compared to Tucson my home city is very cold! At this time of year the water will freeze overnight. It is different from Tucson, but I still do not enjoy the cold too much. How long have you been in Tucson? This is my first session here at CESL, I arrived in August. What do you like to do?

I like to sleep!

Me too! How many hours of sleep do you need? I normally sleep for 7 hours, but sometimes I will take a nap in the middle of the day (naps are awesome), I also like to play computer games and listen to music. Do you have a favorite type of music or song? I like John Legend’s song - All of Me. Because the words are nice words not bad like some music. What is your “go-to” restaurant (a restaurant you always choose) here in the United States?

Interviewed by: Tyler Goodwillie

Strangely, I eat Panda Express a lot, even though it is not real Chinese food, I also like burritos, but I really miss Chinese food! Does China have spicy food? Of course! Have you ever eaten real Chinese food? we have ALL kinds of flavors in 1 type of food. What do you plan to do after CESL and where is 1 place in the US you would like to visit? I will study Chemistry at the University to go to med school and hopefully become a doctor! And I would love to visit New York. Would you rather live on a Desert Island, or NEVER be able to use any technology again? They both sound terrible. I cannot choose. Okay, last question, if you could become an animal what animal would you choose?

A koala, I heard they sleep 20 hours a day, that sounds nice.

!Hi Hussain, How long have you been here?

70 22

I have been here for 1 year and 9 months. I started at CESL at level 10 and it was my first time to America. Now I am level 70.

!Cool, that's a long time! What's your major? !Hobbies?

Systems Engineering.

Scuba diving, I have a rescue diving license. I also lift weights at the rec center and I like to ride motorcycles. Scuba diving i have seen sharks, dolphins, etc.

!What is the most beautiful place you have been diving? The Red Sea, it was so beautiful and the water was crystal clear. !Where do you want to travel?

Alaska. I love being somewhere cold and snowy. It is part of the U.S. but so far away so for that reason it would be awesome to visit and Hawaii would be awesome to visit too.

!If I were to travel to Saudi Arabia where would you suggest I go?

Riyadh city - it is the capital of Saudi and it is beautiful. There are two famous giant towers there. Also Jeddah is a beautiful place to visit.

!What surprised you about Tucson? I was not expecting the amount of friendly people I met, and so many respectful people. !Okay, what would your superpower be if you could chose any?

Reading minds would be cool but it could also be a curse if you heard your friend's thoughts and they were filthy. So I would have to choose flying.

!What animal would you be if you could be an animal? a wolf because it is strong and no one can mess with a wolf. !SoI'dforbe$10,000 would you wrestle a wolf? Haha, sure why not! !Favorite English phrase?

"What goes around, comes around." We have a similar phrase in Arabic too. I have several favorite phrases but this is the one that comes to mind.

I don't eat weird things! They eat camel in Saudi but I have never tried it. I eat things like pizza, hamburgers, and rice.

!Haha, okay so if you had to choose between eating pizza

every day for a whole year or never eating pizza again....? Every day! No problem!
