FALL II 2014 - WEEK 4

STUDENT SPOTLIGHT! Name:

Hector Loustaunau

Homewtown:

Sonora, Mexico ( Ciudad Obregon)

How long have you been here in Tucson? I have been here for one year. I spent 2 semesters studying at Pima, and then I came here to CESL. How do you practice English here in Tucson where there are SO MANY people who speak Spanish? It is very difficult. When I went to Pima people always spoke in Spanish. Here at CESL I am forced to practice my English because I don’t speak Arabic or Chinese or Portuguese like most other people. So, it is difficult but I try hard. What is something you are interested in? I like MMA (Mixed Martial Arts). I think it is relaxing; sometimes it is good to let out anger or energy. What is something on your “bucket list” (something you have to do in your lifetime)?

Interviewed by: Tyler Goodwillie

I want to visit all 5 of the continents. In Mexico we only have 5 continents, but in the United States they teach that there are 7 Continents. We say all of America (North and South) is one continent, and we also do not count Australia. What holiday does Mexico celebrate the most?

We celebrate many holidays but Independence Day is very important to us. It’s on September 16th, everybody in Mexico parties a lot. What food in Mexico is THE BEST? Definitely Tacos- carne asada tacos are the best. Where can I get the best tacos here in Tucson? There are many good Mexican restaurants here but there is a taco place here called Taqueria Pico de Gallo. It is on 6th street and 36th I think. It is amazing. Describe yourself? I am somebody who has seen a lot and knows a little bit of everything, like a well-experienced person. I don’t know if there is a word to describe this in English. *(I also do not know -- let us know if you think of a word to describe Hector!) CESL WEEKLY NEWSLETTER
