Attaining happiness Since the dawn of time, everyone person on earth has tried to chase the idea of success; unfortunately, it bodes very di ficult for someone to consider themselves “successful” when society defines it as “the attainment of wealth”. People everywhere will have more money, bigger houses, better jobs, so defining success as society demotes one's feeling of their own personal achievement. In my opinion, successful people represent happy individuals who have satisfaction for what they do in their daily lives. erefore, for someone to have success, they must consistently have happiness. e first aspect of attaining success includes finding how to attain happiness. Happy people have realistic expectations. As a result of people setting realistic expectations for themselves, they become happier because they feel fulfilled. Fulfillment leads to a successful life. Unfortunately, many people in our society defining success as “the attainment of wealth”. As a result, in 2016, only 33% of Americans stated that they had happy, even though 100 % of people want to feel happy (Si ferlin) . One example that displays how the U.S. standard of success makes people unhappy includes that when I went on a mission trip to the Dominican, all the people, although extremely poor and lived in shacks, had happiness and enjoyed spending time with each other. Because the U.S. defines happiness as a bank account, it causes a lower number of people to have happiness. Although critics suggest that money makes people happy, it only makes life easier, true happiness comes from within. Additionally, successful people feel grateful for everything they have. When people appreciate their lives they become successful because they feel satisfaction from their daily lives. For example, the people in the Dominican, even the laborers, continually stated their gratefulness just to live and have opportunities to work. is displays a vast contrast between the Dominicans and the U.S. citizens perspective. Additionally, they exacerbated so much gratitude towards us that came down to help them build houses. is represents another key aspect of having success because to have happiness, one must display gratitude for they things that they have. How o ten do people take for granted everything they have? I have a great family, a house, friends, and I do not act very grateful all the time. Once people have their basic needs, they start to forget that these are privileges not rights; they start to become greedy and want more-- this leads to unhappy people and therefore less successful In summation, people who define success as only having money need to realize how they will never become happy if they keep comparing bank accounts to value success is will lead to people will stop comparing themselves to others to evaluate their success rate. In turn, this will create more happy individuals.

Satisfaction in Jobs Everyone strives to have satisfaction with their life. Since the beginning of this country's origin, the colonists had a goal to secede from Great Britain and start their own country and only a ter that did they become satisfied with their goal. is, in turn, made them successful. Today, for people to have success they need to have satisfaction for what they do in their daily lives (i.e. jobs). For example, setting a goal about their future career and going a ter that career leads to satisfaction. When an individual has satisfaction in their daily lives, they have achieved something of importance, thus creating success for themselves. Everyone wants to have satisfaction and joy in their daily lives. Unfortunately, an astonishing 70% of the 100 million U.S. workers do not enjoy their jobs (Siebold). Not only will this lead to unhappy, dissatisfied people, it will lead individuals to lose a sense of purpose in life. Unfortunately, the most common reason people stay in their job for years without enjoying it comes with the simple response of “money”; But, how can a person have success if they constantly worry about money and do not enjoy their life? If someone makes a lot of money but remains unhappy and dissatisfied with their life does that really spawn success? Miserable people who have money do not have success. American’s feel so dissatisfied with their jobs
because they worry more about money than satisfaction and joy. Although some critics may argue that money will create happiness and joy sometimes, it takes someone who experiences long-term happiness and joy to become success. Additionally, if people enjoy what they do, the money will follow. For example, my dad used to work for a company that sold plasmid to neighboring countries and he hated it because he had to travel all the time and he could not come home a lot. Despite this, Leif still felt successful because he was making money. A ter countless years of misery and many nights out of the house, he quit. Recently, he found a job where he rarely has to leave the house. With this new job he sells x-rays for G.E.. is past year, he ranked 2nd among the 50 x-ray salesmen in the country. As a salesman, his two most important tasks include talking to hospital managers and making people feel better. Not only does he love talking to people and selling things to help people feel better, he has become quite prosperous though this. In summation, people who work in their jobs but do not like it should attempt to find a job that makes them satisfied. Hopefully this will result in many people quitting their jobs that make them unhappy. People need to realize that money does not equate to success; satisfaction in life choices will lead to success in life.

Movie Reviews Gi ted In the movie Gi ted, a young math prodigy named Mary lives in a coastal town in southern Florida with her dad Frank. Frank wants to raise her in a way that she can experience a normal life. On the other had, Mary’s grandmother wants her to focus 100% of her time on studies and zero time on fellowship with her peers. A ter a court case to see whether or not Mary should live with Frank or her grandmother, the judge decides that Mary should live with foster care parents. Unfortunately, Mary’s grandmother forces the foster parents to have Mary spend all her time studying. is makes Mary miserable, even though she has the talents to become one of the world’s greatest scientists. A ter this, she goes back to live with Frank where she lives a normal life, except for going to college classes near their home. Even though Mary might not cure cancer at an early age with this life choice, she has happiness. erefore, Mary has success at the end of the movie when she does not focus 100% of her time on her studies (Webb). Remember the Titans In this nonfiction story taking place in 1971, a desegregated high school hires a black coach named Boone for the school’s football team. is football team, half white and half black, faced many obstacles as well as racial disagreements throughout the season. Fortunately, Boone exhibited his phenomenal coaching abilities when he delivers an emotional speech in the Gettysburg cemetery. From this point forward, this team fought for each other and unexpectedly went on to when the Virginia state championship. ese boys and coaches had a goal to win the state championship, and did everything they could to achieve that. A ter they won the championship, they felt immensely satisfied and happy with the amount of work they put, displaying their breathtaking success (Yakin). In my opinion, Gi ted represented a better definition of success as it relates to my argument. Mary, a brilliant young women, could have put herself through endless hours of studying and misery to accomplish something great because she had a brilliant mind. With society defining success as accomplishments and money, Mary would have had a much better opportunity to achieve this if she had put herself through misery. Instead, Mary chooses to put her happiness and satisfaction of her life ahead of accomplishments. As a result, Mary clearly models a successful person. Although Remember the Titans obviously shares a success story, very few people ever have the opportunity to win a state title. Additionally, Mary makes a choice to disregard the potential accolades and instead, focus 100% on her own happiness. As a result, Gi ted represents a movie that directly correlates to my argument on what success really means.

During the research phase, we had meeting with “focus groups” about the types of products the sales team wanted to see in the market. We would meet with all the departments to make such we could support the new product. Before implementation, we would also make sure that our systems could support our new product. About the Author Hello, I, Owen Nielsen, attend Chagrin Falls High School as a junior. I participate in swimming, cross country, link-crew, and have had the ability to help young kids in the math department as well. Chagrin Falls has many gateways of opportunities for young kids to thrive, and does its best to promote hard work that will lead to success. However, the definition of success that many individuals from Chagrin Falls gears more towards how much money you make as opposed to happiness and satisfaction with your career and life choices. Many adults that live in Chagrin Falls have had the ability to prosperous, some even making millions of dollars a year. Unfortunately, this has caused many of their children to view success as possessing the “finer things” in life. I to have fallen into this trap where I believed that the only way to become successful included making money. Before moving to Chagrin in 2013, I lived in Arkansas where not everybody had money. People did not get judged o f the size of their house or the kind of car they drove. In contrast, when I moved up to Chagrin Falls I quickly became aware that these things do in fact matter. For a while, I concurred with Chagrin Falls views of success, leading me to feel overwhelmed and pressured to do well at school so that I could make money in the future. Occasionally I had felt like I needed to go into a career path I did not like in order to make loads of money. Although extremely unfortunate, eventually I learned from these horace definitions by coming up with my own definition of success that includes happiness and satisfaction with career and life paths. Specifically in Chagrin, people have become dissatisfied with their own achievements because when they compare their own achievements to the achievements of others. is causes them to feel disappointed and overwhelmed. is explains why so many individuals in Chagrin have anxiety and depression. Comparing yourself to other people’s bank accounts never solves anything. More and more people, such as myself, have started to realize that to find true success, one should only look at themselves and their own goals. For example, I used to ask how my friends how they did on tests and try to compare myself to them. is only either boosted my ego or made me feel bad about myself. As a result, I have started to just think about my personal achievement and not compare myself to anyone else when exploring the notion of success. In summation, those who compare themselves to others to find their success need to worry about themselves and accomplish their own goals they set out for themselves. is will cause more and more people to become happy, satisfied, and in turn, successful.
