Live, Love, Lice? Lice specialists often define lice as small insects that feed and lays eggs on the heads of humans. Lice can spread rapidly and sometimes cause intense itching of the scalp. Old remedies often included DDT and arsenic, which both remain detrimental to human health (Rodger). Due to the lack of safety with ancient methods, society switches to the use of chemicals or pesticides. However, many lice gain a resistance to these methods, thus professionals often call these “super lice” (Weintraub). These new lice make it more difficult to get rid of them, thus when parents fail to get rid of lice, they often seek professional help to help get them on the path to success. These specialists not only use a natural enzyme product, but also explain the prevention of future lice. In a louse’s life time, it can produce 100 eggs and live to about 35 days (Rodger). Although many pesticides do kill the lice, they often lack the ability to get rid of the eggs. Fortunately, a professional nit removal comb can help lessen the problems. Nevertheless, the eggs attach to the scalp with a glue that makes them difficult to remove. Thankfully, multiple lice specialist use a natural enzyme product that loosens the glue, making nits easier to remove (Picky Pam LLC). Additionally, lice specialist also comfort and help families going through the process of lice removal. Specialists suggest to often check hair for lice and to do regular comb throughs to avoid future infestations. The failures to remains lice free leads to parents learning about the success of prevention. Although lice do not spread disease, many methods exist to prevent the spread of
lice. People should not share hats, combs, clothes, pillows, or headphones because items that touch one head and then another can spread lice quickly (Picky Pam LLC). Additionally having hair in a ponytail or braid also remains a simple way to prevent the spread. Lice, additionally, dislike the smell of mint so spraying a head with mint lice repellent spray can also help with prevention. Unfortunately, many people still believe that methods such as mayonnaise or oil can remove head lice. However, the Center for Disease Controls warns that these methods have no medical evidence that they get rid of lice (Rodger). Now that parents know ways of prevention, they will have determination to successfully remain lice free. Lice specialists want parents to learn that over the counter pesticides can contain dangers. Additionally, specialists convey no judgements and realize that these failures have nobody to blame. Professionals want to encourage both children and parents to practice these ways of prevention so that they can remain lice free in the future. Although the experience of lice my seem overwhelming, with a little determination anyone can find success in life. Close up of louse. Courtesy of gettyimages.com

Touch Your Shelf James Dashner’s 2009 fiction novel, The Maze Runner, focuses around the main character Thomas, who wakes up in an elevator with no memory. He enters a community with about 50 other boys who remain trapped inside of a maze. Each boy has a different role in the community and the most important remain the runners who explore the maze in an attempt to escape. The maze, however, frequently changes and has monsters called Grievers, which can kill the boys. Additionally, the maze also closes at night trapping everything inside the maze. However, when the doors stop closing at night and release the Grievers, Thomas find determination to create a plan in attempt to solve the maze. Dashner’s novel remains action-packed, but also contains critical thinking. The book remains perfect for any young adult who loves dystopian societies. Although, the boom remains disappointing at the end with the deaths of multiple characters. Fortunately, the book contains a large amount of character development, with Thomas realizing that others should not limit his abilities. However, the novel perfectly exemplifies how using determination to overcome failures can lead to success. Dashner writes to self-doubting teens to demonstrates that they can accomplish anything with enough hard work. Overall, the novel remains well written with extremely high amounts of creativity. Liz Murray’s 2010 memoir, Breaking Night: A Memoir of Forgiveness, Survival, and My Journey from Homeless to Harvard, follows her journey from living on the streets to her acceptance to Harvard. In Murray’s childhood other children often bully her appearance due to the fact that her drug-addicted parents spend all their money on drugs. From truancy, working jobs as a child to pay for food, and living on the streets, Murray struggles to find her place in life. However, after her mother dies from AIDS, Murray decides to clean up her act. Overcoming her failures in the past, Murray uses her determination to do the impossible: finish four years of high school in two years. How does Murray do this and g et into Harvard? Murray’s novel, although containing her despairing childhood, exemplifies how using determination to overcome failures leads to success. Throughout the story, the audience learns what the consequences of drugs can put on the relationships in a family. Unfortunately, the audience also learns about the lack of support people in poverty receive from welfare and medicaid. This book remains best for self-doubting teenagers to demonstrate how even people in awful situations can still find success in life, thus encouraging teens to find determination. Murray also writes to government officials to encourage them to help improve the poverty situation in America. Overall, Murray’s novel remains my choice of book to read because I can better relate to a teenage girl rather than a group of guys.
The Drive-In Theatre Thomas Lennon’s 2017 documentary, K nife Skills, focuses around the employees at a high-end French restaurant called Edwins in Cleveland, Ohio. The employees, however, have a much different background than most ordinary chefs. The employees remain almost entirely made out of criminals right out of prison. The men and women go through a rigorous two month training program in order to not only learn what goes in each recipe, but also to learn how to cook everything. The owner originally started the restaurant to give felons a second chance because many employers will not look past the fact that they have felonies. Although many of these men and women face past failures, they all have determination to have success in their future. Through their hard work and dedication, many of these felons feel like they finally have a place to call home The documentary remains very inspirational not only to felons, but also to business owners. The film exemplifies how employees who use dedication find success in the restaurant, while those who give little effort fail. Additionally, Lennon creates the film to encourage business owners to not have prejudice towards felons. Also, the film demonstrates personal development in the felons illustrating their change in attitude towards themselves and the world. Of equal importance, many of the felons explain their life and how they got to recieve felonies. This documentary remains perfect for any chef or even just a food lover! Star Wars: The Force Awakens remains the most successful movie of the S tar Wars franchise with grossing over 935 million dollars (“Star Wars”). The story begins with Poe Dameron, a Resistance pilot, and his droid BB-8. The duo finds the map to Luke Skywalker, however, when the first Order finds them in a village, Poe sends BB-8 away to keep the map hidden. When stormtrooper Finn feels overwhelmed with guilt from the acts of the First Order, he escapes and lands on a desert planet. Finn later meets the young woman, Rey, and together they decide to join the resistance in order to find Luke Skywalker. This film remains my favorite of all time due to the fact that it empowers women so well. The female character not only overcomes her failures, but she uses her dedication to find success and help others. This film remains perfect for any science fiction or fantasy lover and appeals to all ages. The film has numerous actions scenes and have surprising plot twists that will keep the audience guessing. The films has both plot and character development with Rey realizing her true power in the world. Additionally, Rey faces an internal conflict due to the fact that she has the power of the force. Overall, the movie remains awakening for the future generations.
