Facebook fan pages are a great way to use social media to promote your business, connect with your customers, and attract prospects. You can find apps that link your Twitter account to your page, that draw your blog's RSS feed to your page, or gather and post customer testimonials. A quick search for 'business apps' on Facebook will turn up a ton. Now that your Facebook fan page is up, you need fans! Unlike your profile, you can't send people friend invites...you have to invite people directly. One way to do this is to have a Facebook badge on your website that links to your page, so visitors can click through and become a fan. If you have a mailing list, send out a notice about your fan page and ask people to become a fan. Likewise, you can do this through your Facebook profile, or through regular email. Facebook fan pages are most effective when they are kept fresh and updated, so be sure to use the page to its fullest. Start discussions, post updates often, and now and then include some fun, off-business content that people will enjoy and spread to their friends (who just might become fans!) Spend a few hours each week updating and building your fan-base, and before you know it you'll have a dedicated following...and more business!
