Dreadnought (dred-nawt): noun 1. A type of battleship introduced in the early 20th century, largerand faster than its predecessors and equipped entirely with large caliber guns. 2. A type of acoustic guitar with a larger body and louder sound than all previous guitars. The Martin Dreadnought guitar celebrates its 100th anniversary in 2016. It was named after the British battleship Dreadnought, which also celebrates its 110th anniversary in 2016. The British Dreadnought was the most powerful battleship in the world when she was launched. It became the new standard for design and construction. Navies around the world copied her design. I’m very proud that my ancestors designed a guitar with similar qualities.

00-42SC John Mayer This “00” 12-fret guitar boasts solid cocobolo sides, back and headplate, gorgeous “42” style appointments, and is inspired by the 00-45SC built in collaboration with John Mayer in 2012. The “SC” stands for stagecoach, harkening back to an era when guitars were taken on trains, wagons, and horses for bringing people together in song.
D-35 Seth Avett Built in collaboration with Seth Avett of The Avett Brothers, a high-altitude Swiss spruce top is featured for the top of this 14-fret Dreadnought. Harvested in winter months to produce a lighter-weight wood with better stiffness, this wood features a tight and even grain. This guitar also sports a three-piece back composed of East Indian rosewood with a flamed koa center wedge. Seth himself designed the copper snowflake inlay placed in this guitar’s ebony fretboard.
00-DB Jeff Tweedy Designed in collaboration with Grammy Award winning Wilco front man, Jeff Tweedy. The 00-DB Jeff Tweedy is Martin’s first Custom Artist model that is FSC® Certified, an important distinction for both Tweedy and Martin.

Dreadnought Junior Fashioned for player comfort, clear powerful tone and easy action, the Dreadnought Junior is reduced to approximately 15/16” of the full Martin 14-fret Dreadnought dimension (14 ¼” width at the lower bout) with an expressive 24” scale length. A solid Sitka spruce top features scalloped ¼” high performance X-bracing with a single asymmetrical tone bar. The back and sides are bookmatched from sapele, and Richlite, an ebony alternative with similar hardness and appearance, is chosen for the fingerboard and bridge. The Dreadnought Junior (aka “D Jr”) comes factory equipped with Fishman’s Sonitone sound reinforcement system and includes a nylon gig bag.
