Carol Seal’s depth of interests include sports, outdoors, arts and culture, and education. These interests also reflect Carol’s passions in philanthropy, which led her to become a supporter of The Community Foundation.

“I’m very diverse in what I like, and the Foundation supports all those areas,” Carol said. “I can give to one place, and it supports many great places and causes I care about.”

For the past two years, Carol has served as Board Chair of the Foundation’s Board of Directors. Through her work on various committees, governing the Foundation’s policies and programs, and representing the Foundation in the community, Carol’s passion and dedication to the work of the Foundation has grown exponentially. Until she became a volunteer, she never fully realized the depth of the funds and support that the Foundation provides, not only to organizations in the community but to others who are working to make a change.

“I love what the Foundation does to be a connector in the community,” Carol said. “The Foundation staff works hard to share knowledge and expertise with other funders, donors, volunteers, and organizations.”

Philanthropy is not just personal for Carol; it also happens to be professional. She is currently the accountant at Ball Associates and was previously the CFO at Indiana University Health Ball Memorial Hospital. As a professional accountant, she knows the value behind solid investments and supporting the Foundation’s unrestricted endowment. In 2019, Carol led the creation of a Board of Directors Fund at The Community Foundation by contributing a significant gift and encouraged other members to do the same.

Carol was born and raised in Muncie and attended Ball State University. She moved away after finishing college but gladly returned more than two decades ago to be closer to family. Carol found comfort in returning to a community where she felt connected and could make an impact. She currently serves on the Board of Directors for Cardinal Greenway, Youth Opportunity Center, and MutualBank Charitable Foundation. She’s an avid fan of all thing’s sports, frequently attending sporting events at Ball State University and throughout the community. She joked that she has become “Aunt Carol” to many of her friends and their families because she always loves attending their events.

“Muncie is a great place to live, and I truly believe it is what you make it,” Carol shared. “The community continues to grow and adapt to change, and I love living here and being a part of the change.”

Being responsive and adaptive to the community’s changing needs is at the core of the existence of The Community Foundation of Muncie and Delaware County.

“When you give to The Community Foundation, you’re not just giving for today. You’re supporting it in the future,” Carol said.
