PROFESSIONAL SUPPORT Teachers: The Section of Teachers provides faculty development opportunities, networking events, and resources for family medicine teachers across the education continuum. Researchers: The Section of Researchers promotes and facilitates family medicine research. Special interests: Programs within the Section of Communities of Practice in Family Medicine link members with similar practice interests in particular domains of care. Early career: The First Five Years in Family Practice Committee supports early-career family physicians by sharing resources on clinical practice, practice management, and work/life balance, as well as tools specific to each province. Residents: The Section of Residents acts as a liaison between the CFPC and family medicine residents across Canada. The first year of resident membership is free. Medical students: The Section of Medical Students links the College with medical students at each medical school across Canada. Student membership in the CFPC is free.

MEMBER ENGAGEMENT Advocacy: We are the voice of family medicine in Canada. We advocate for you by actively promoting family medicine and primary care to elected officials and other decision makers. Canadian Family Physician (CFP): The official journal of the College, CFP is the only peer-reviewed medical journal in Canada that focuses on family medicine. It keeps you informed on current issues and the latest thinking in the discipline of family medicine. Chapters: We support you locally with our provincial Chapter offices. The CFPC and the provincial Chapters work with federal and provincial governments, other health care organizations, and family medicine academic and research communities. Committees and working groups: CFPC members participate on more than 50 committees and working groups to share your voice and have input on the work that we do at the College. eNews: Our monthly newsletter is published to keep you informed on current events in family medicine, the CFPC, and Chapters. Grants and awards: CFPC members are awarded more than $500,000 in research grants and awards each year through the Foundation for Advancing Family Medicine. Library Services: Members are able to request assistance with conducting a literature search or seeking an article. Networking: We provide leadership and networking opportunities throughout the year at our provincial Chapters’ Annual Scientific Assemblies and during our annual Family Medicine Forum. Your voice: Join our ePanel to contribute your opinions to CFPC policies and priorities.

RECOGNITION OF MEMBERSHIP MILESTONES Life Membership is awarded on a complimentary basis to members who are 70 years of age or older with 10 consecutive years of membership Members who are 65 years of age or older with 10 consecutive years of membership receive a substantial reduction in fees

Working with our provincial Chapters, we are committed to supporting family physicians in meeting the highest standards for patient care. We provide and support research, teaching, and accreditation for postgraduate family medicine programs across the country. As the professional body representing family physicians, we define the discipline of family medicine by establishing standards for family medicine training, certification, and accreditation of continuing professional development. We serve family physician members, residents, medical students, and other health care professionals who work with family physicians and share our commitments. We advocate for family physicians, define and celebrate the role of family medicine and family practice at the heart of our health care system, and work to ensure everyone in Canada can access high-quality care from a family physician.
