Some of my feelings… Some of my thoughts… Diary of my learning process

Carolina Gálvez Santos UAB – 2014-2015

Wednesday, 15th October 2014  Today we have given insights into important aspects of Telecollaboration. I really felt at ease in this session. I had been preparing the information provided by our professor the weekend before. Thus, I could reflect on her questions and thoroughly interact with my classmates. Interesting and meaningful interactions are possible when –individually- we first reflect on the material we had to work on. In doing so, we have a certain

“mastery” of a specific issue and, therefore, we are able to exchange opinions with our peers. Likewise, feedback given by the professor shows us the way towards continued improvement. Hence, new knowledge acquisition takes place: • Uni-collaboration website is an excellent source to start dealing with Telecollaboration. • Implementing Telecollaboration is a scary thing to do for many teachers. Do they really want to give autonomy to their pupils? “Go & explore!” is cool… but sometimes these are hollow words. Some teachers prefer to control everything to feel self-confident.

• If Telecollaboration is not perfectly planned, it does not work. • We need to think about SWBATs (“Students will be able to”). Learners will not get the same level. All of them have to achieve a minimum knowledge. Some pupils will get the maximum level.
