CAPITAL IMPROVEMENT CAMPAIGN Winter 2020-21
WHEN LIFE AS WE KNOW IT IS DISRUPTED, IT FORCES US TO LOOK AROUND. So, what have we seen this past year? Rather than laying low and waiting for the cloud to pass, you, the family and friends of Chabad of Fairfield have stood taller than ever. We’ve seen: • Record numbers of participants finding strength and meaning through our creative Jewish celebrations and remote Torah sessions • Young families checking in on and delivering care packages to elderly Chabad members • Kids taking new joy in their Judaism, as seen at our house-to-house Hebrew school graduation Undeterred by physical distance, you’ve shown how Chabad has grown only stronger through it all.

This wasn’t our choice—but it is our opportunity! These strategic improvements will make the Berkowitz Chabad House a safer, stronger and more inviting home for all Jewish Fairfielders.

SAFER • Repave parking lot and set new entry points to improve traffic flow • Lay sidewalks around the entire property for access and security • Install security cameras to detect and deter potential intrusion or vandalism (completed) • Install outdoor lighting for beauty, access and security
SMARTER • Work between April and June, before our fiveyear window expires • Dramatically enhance Chabad’s facility, positioning it to greatly expand its impact

• Work before we fully re-open so we can avoid disrupting any programs • Save an estimated $20,000 by not having to rent interim facilities
STRONGER • Ensure we cover all fixed expenses through June 2021 (mortgage, utilities, salary) • Build an enclosed plaza for outdoor programming as requested by members and recommended by medical professionals in light of Covid-19 • Landscape and plant to uplift the environment in all its meanings
