Overland Park Soccer Complex

City of Overland Park – Overland Park, KS The Overland Park Soccer Complex is a premier soccer tournament facility also used for community soccer groups for youth and adult clubs. The project included twelve professional size synthetic turf fields, sports lighting, a field cooling system, tennis courts, basketball courts, concession and restroom buildings for each soccer “pod,” a skatepark and waterpark, play areas and park shelters, parking, thematic signage, site landscaping and irrigation, and renovations to the adjacent Deanna Rose Farmstead with new parking and landscaping. Six holes on an adjacent golf course were relocated to accommodate the project.

Warhill Sports Complex James City County – Williamsburg, VA

CHA Sports was retained by the County to design several projects at the Warhill Sports Complex over a 5 year span. Currently these projects include a 3,000 seat synthetic turf stadium, six synthetic turf fields for soccer, football, field hockey and lacrosse, a new high school size baseball field, and a four field natural turf T-ball complex.

Soccerplex

Maryland Soccer Foundation – South Germantown, MD Completion Date: 2001/2012 Construction Cost: $17,000,000

This recreational park provides the Metropolitan Washington area with a showcase facility for youth teams, amateur clubs and tournament play, and is one of the largest of its kind in the nation. With construction costs of $17 million, the soccerplex consists of 24 outdoor, natural grass fields, one of which is a championship level field with 4,000 spectator seats. An arena building that houses two fields for indoor soccer play contributes to the park’s year-round versatility. Additionally, CHA completed lighting design and renovation of fields 14 and 17 including complete renovation of the root-zone mixes, drainage and grass for the fields.

Princess Anne Athletic Complex

City of Virginia Beach – Virginia Beach, VA Completion Date: 2005 Construction Cost: $15,000,000

With a name that suggests royalty, the Princess Anne Athletic Complex has a lot to live up to. This stunning Athletic Complex, designed by CHA, features eight regulation softball fields and seven regulation soccer fields, as well as field lighting, restrooms, concession and maintenance facilities. In addition to these amenities, the 250-acre athletic complex features a 20-acre pond with fishing pier, parking facilities, and several miles of multi-purpose trails. The only thing missing is a castle.

Regional Athletic Complex Salt Lake City Corp. – Salt Lake City, UT Completion Date: 2015 Construction Cost: $26,800,000

CHA was retained to plan and design the Salt Lake City Regional Athletic Complex. This sportsplex will consist of 18 soccer fields, rugby field overlays, four softball and four baseball fields. Stadium fields for soccer, baseball and softball include bleachers and spectator amenities. Additionally, an administrative building, 200-ft stream way corridor (natural buffer), restrooms and concessions near the various fields, playgrounds and picnic areas, irrigation ponds, central community park, and a maintenance facility are included in this high profile complex.

Sports Complex Kent County – Dover, DE Completion Date: 2016 Construction Cost: $24,000,000 (est)

In association with Delaware Economic Development Office, Kent County and The Greater Dover Committee, CHA Sports is part of a team that provided site analysis and concept design for a regional field sports complex. The project design requires coordination with future DelDOT plans for road improvements in the area. The facility will be situated on approximately 100 leased acres of a 600 acre Kent County owned parcel. The proposed design includes 12 fields and one stadium field with seating for approximately 1,000. The facility is to be designed for the purposes of meeting the needs of the local sports community, but also function as host to regional and national youth tournaments in multiple field sports including soccer, lacrosse and field hockey. The stadium field will be designed for expansion and include associated parking. The fields will be synthetic turf and some or all may be lighted, based on budget. Several small restroom and concession buildings will be placed throughout the property. Additionally, the site development will include a building to house meeting rooms, offices, locker rooms, kitchenette, restrooms, storage, and concession area. There will also be a maintenance building which will include office, meeting room, equipment storage, material bins, fenced service yard and fuel storage. Grand Park

City of Myrtle Beach – Myrtle Beach, SC Completion Date: 2012 Construction Cost: $14,500,000

CHA completed construction documents for the installation of nine synthetic turf ball fields for the new Grand Park in Myrtle Beach, SC. The design included multi-sport layout for soccer, flag football, lacrosse along with ball field configurations to accommodate all age groups. CHA also completed the detailed field grading, underdrainage system and design of the irrigation system for field cooling and clean-up. The synthetic turf fields will provide local athletes with high quality playing conditions in all seasons and gives the Parks Department optimal flexibility to meet the diverse needs of the community.

Soccer Facilities

U.S. Soccer Foundation – Nationwide

Completion Date: Ongoing Construction Cost: $10,000,000 to date

CHA has developed soccer facility concept plans for over 100 fields throughout the United States. The majority of the sites are remediated brownfield parcels, left vacant after years of industrial use. CHA works directly with the local parties interested in developing the site to ensure that the proposed plan meets the program needs of the community. CHA’s scope of services included complete site investigations, identification of critical site constraints, meeting local interest groups, coordination with regulatory agencies, building consensus amongst involved parties, development of concept plans, and establishing project budgets.

New Balance Field

Boston University – Boston, MA Completion Date: 2013 Construction Cost: $21,500,000

CHA provided design and construction administration services for a new lighted synthetic turf practice and recreation sports field on a structured deck over on-grade parking. The project creates a home stadium for practice and competition field hockey and is sized for lacrosse and soccer practice. It also provides much needed recreation space for the campus. The new field creates an extraordinary destination at the west end of the Boston University campus for athletes, spectators, and recreational users. The new pocket urban park is a welcome amenity to the front door of the existing athletics administration building. Athletic Master Plan

Harvard University – Cambridge, MA Completion Date: 2010 Construction Cost: N/A (Study)

Harvard University has significantly expanded their land holdings south of the Charles River and are master planning an entirely new campus in the Allston neighborhood of Boston. As part of this work a substantial part of indoor and all outdoor athletics will be reconfigured and relocated over several years to accommodate the new vision for this growth of the Harvard campus. CHA was selected to provide full programming and concept design services for all indoor and outdoor sports facilities. The indoor facilities include hockey and basketball arenas, wrestling/ volleyball/ fencing arena, 50 meter and recreational pools, indoor track facility, full recreation center, athlete support areas, and offices for athletics. Outdoor planning includes relocating all venues and practice facilities including baseball and softball complex, track venue, soccer and field hockey venues, and tennis courts. Numerous synthetic turf fields will be utilized and spectator and athlete support facilities will be increased. Large dedicated recreational fields will also be integrated.

Brighton Athletic Fields Complex Boston College – Brighton, MA Completion Date: 2016 (Design) Construction Cost: $55,000,000 (est)

CHA is providing design services for the proposed Brighton Athletic Complex which includes baseball and softball venues, a recreation field and a new 300 car parking garage. The baseball and softball venues share support facilities including team rooms, training, offices, toilets and concessions and the 1,500 seat baseball venue features a wraparound press box, and hitting tunnels below the seating concourse. Softball seating is accessed from an upper plaza area and features an outfield ‘viewing deck’. Both facilities include a synthetic turf surface and athletic field lighting.

Weston Athletic Complex Williams College – Williamstown, MA Completion Date: 2014 Construction Cost: $20,000,000

This exciting project is located at the current Weston Field complex and has new venues for football, men’s and women’s lacrosse, women’s field hockey, and track and field. A new team pavilion allows athletes to train and practice on site as well as providing alumni spaces for game day and other special events. New spectator facilities provide ample seating, restrooms and concessions for all venues. In addition, the site is a welcoming and multi-use complex for the greater Williamstown community. CHA was awarded this project through a competitive design competition.

Baker Complex

The Hochkiss School – Lakeville, CT Completion Date: 2009 Construction Cost: $2,500,000 Award: 2010 Outstanding Track Facility Award - American Sports Building Association

CHA provided overall planning and design services associated with the complete reconstruction of Hemmingway Track and Baker Field, including capital campaign graphics that were specifically prepared to assist in the development of the project. Hemmingway Track was reconstructed to a 6/8-lane, broken back configuration to meet specific site requirements. Track improvements were constructed to fully meet current NCAA requirements. Baker Field was reconstructed as a multi-purpose synthetic field, permitting football, soccer, and lacrosse activities.

New Athletic Facilities The Pingry School – Basking Ridge, NJ Completion Date: 2017 Construction Cost: $30,000,000 (est)

CHA completed an overall campus master plan for the Pingry School’s 230 acre campus that provides for the needs of the student population and use by the greater community. Key elements include a reorganization of vehicular and pedestrian circulation patterns, reorganization of multiple athletic fields and related facilities, and development of new indoor facilities for the school’s track and ice hockey programs. The new athletic building will serve as an anchor to these campus improvements. The facility features a 200M track, squash courts, fitness center, wrestling areas, and locker facilities the building is approximately 110,000 gsf.

House Doctor

University of Massachusetts at Amherst CHA prepared an athletics master plan for the development of a new sports complex at the University of Massachusetts Amherst Campus. Since that time, CHA has completed numerous planning, design and construction services for the following facilities through our 10-year “House Doctor” contract:
