Reasons to Select CHA to Solve PFAS Issues
Per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) are synthetic chemicals widely used in consumer and industrial products. If not managed correctly, these forever chemicals can seep into nature, potentially contaminating food and water.
For decades, CHA has helped public and private clients safeguard the environment and comply with regulations through a holistic approach to hazardous waste management. Our professionals collect and analyze samples, evaluate and mitigate risks of exposure, determine and manage liability, and design safe and effective remediation solutions to protect public health.

Overview of CHA’s PFAS Engineering and Management Services
Sampling and Analysis
• Collect samples to identify the potential existence of PFAS issues
• Conduct complimentary lab and bench-scale testing by Battelle
Source Identification
• Trace source of PFAS in groundwater wells by installing test wells
• Develop and use groundwater models for path identification of PFAS after PFAS discharge/release
Funding/Cost Recovery
• Prepare funding applications for planning and construction of remedial measures
• Work with local funding agencies to secure the Bipartisan Infrastructure Bill allocated through the Drinking Water State Revolving Fund and Clean Water State Revolving Fund
Treatability/Treatment
• Use the Environmental Protection Agency’s treatability database and cost model
• Conduct treatability analysis, pilot and bench-scale testing for the most cost-effective solution
• Review blending as an option to reduce PFAS concentration
• Design and install above groundwater treatment technology using a cost-effective method among granular activated carbon, ion exchange, and membrane
• Plan for in-ground remedial options (if needed)
• Employ PFAS destruction using Battelle’s incineration technology (if needed)
Management
• Act as an extension of staff to manage media scrutiny and stakeholders’ inquiries
• Handle issuance of consumer notice and manage outward communication
