Our Experience University of Maine New Balance Field House: $14.5M renovation to the Memorial Gym and Field House. This included the complete restoration of “the Pit”, home to the men’s and women’s basketball team, as well as the replacement of the indoor track. CHA provided design services for modifications to the indoor track. Bowdoin College Whittier Field: CHA designed renovations and enhancements to the Whittier Field athletic complex. Renovations included the installation of a lighted synthetic turf field for football an men’s lacrosse as well as an 8 lane NCAA compliant running track. CHA also provided design services for a two level pressbox/ coaches box, and 8,000 sq ft building to house locker rooms, a training room and an equipment room.

New Balance Field House

UMass Amherst Track & Field: The master plan included a soccer field, a softball field, and track facility. The track is a nine-lane, 400-meter synthetic surface track; a steeplechase water-jump area; long- and triple-jump areas; high-jump and pole vault areas and a state-of-the-art timing system. The complex also includes a support building. University at Albany Track & Field: A repaired and upgraded track and field venue that includes a 9-lane synthetic surface track, with 9-lane sprint straights at 48” widths. Stony Brook University Track: Design of an 8-lane 400 meter track facility surrounding an artificial turf soccer field. The project also included field events such as javelin, shot-put, discus/hammer, long/triple jump and pole vault.

UMass Track & Field Complex

University of Mississippi Ole Miss Track & Field Complex: The existing track and field facility was in complete disrepair and deemed unusable due to ground settlement problems and storm line failure under the track. CHA was hired to design and construct a new facility that will include a 9 lane, 400-meter track oval, including two new starting line chutes, a new double-D zone infield with pole vault, long jump and high jump areas, and new infield for javelin/discus and shot put throws.

CHA & PDT Architects “Our vision in 1977 was to create a highquality, collaborative design firm that stressed innovation grounded in careful listening to client’s functional needs. Our tag line has been ‘Combining art and science to rethink, refine and reshape the built environment.’ This exciting opportunity to join the CHA family gives us a much larger platform to implement that vision.” David Webster and Lyndon Keck, PDT’s founding partners

CHA’s affiliate and subsidiary companies deliver additional value to CHA clients by providing specialized expertise, cutting-edge technology and complementary services. The CHA Companies together can offer complete solutions to complex challenges. In October, 2017 CHA acquired PDT Architects (PDT), a full-service, community-based architectural, interior design, and planning firm of 25 employees based in Portland, Maine. PDT specializes in providing sustainable, high performance design services to K-12 schools, health care facilities, corporations, municipalities, colleges and universities, and auditoriums and theaters in and around Portland and surrounding New England towns and cities. CHA and PDT’s values and vision are very well aligned and the merger will enhance our ability to expand our services offerings in many markets, including education. CHA and PDT work closely together to maximize the expertise of both firms in order to provide world-class engineering and architectural services to our clients.
