NEWS FROM 4-C Recent happenings. . . The Health Fair The 2013 Health and Wellness Fair was an amazingly inspiring event. The students thought up every booth at the fair. They spent the days prior to the event, making materials and signs, bringing in supplies from home, and setting up in the classrooms and in the hallway. While it was exciting to see how their vision came together at the event, it was even more impressive to witness the cooperation, the sense of responsibility and the initiative it took for the students to share all of their knowledge in such a public way. I was incredibly proud of the action that they took throughout this unit! We realize that we would not have been able to pull off the fair without all of the behind-the-scenes work from parents. Thank you for helping us with everything from delicious rice for Kimbap rolls to relaxing candles for the meditation room. You are an amazing resource for us!

Unit Reflection This week, we worked on a writing reflection after our event that we entitled, “The Top Ten Things That Worked at the Heath Fair.” Students used the Six Thinking Hats construct to discuss the positive aspects and the benefits of putting on an activity like this one for the larger Chadwick community. IB Learner Profile Additionally, we began creating IB Learner Profile posters. We asked the students to capture images of when they demonstrated elements of the profile in their life at school and in their personal time outside of school. We asked them to include the following profile words… Caring Open-Minded Reflective Principled Thinker Risk-taker Inquirer Balanced Knowledgeable Communicator Numeracy This week, we discussed positive and negative integers. Visitors Chef Joey joined us to discuss how he prepares food for guests at the Sheraton Hotel in Songdo. He talked about nutrition, cleanliness and food presentation. His delicious and healthy muffin samples were a big hit with the fourth graders! Have a wonderful weekend! Fondly,

Sesame
