HYPOTHESIS

• We think the plants can grow against gravity because we think the plants can grow anyhow and possibly anywhere.

STEPS for EXPERIMENT

5

STEP 1 • Get 3 plastic cups from a plant shop with a

hole in the bottom. Then, put growing plants in the cups (1 in each cup).

STEP 2 • Get the plants and get some plastic wrap

and mask it on top each plant, then attach it on the cups.To attach it to the cup, use tape to attach it.Then, hang it up side down. But, leave 1 plant right-side-up.

7

STEP 3 • After hanging the masked-with-wrap plants

up-side down, water it through the hole in the bottom of the plastic cups. (see Step 1)

8

STEP 4 • See what happens. Measure the plant growth everyday. After measuring, record it in a recording sheet. (Did the plant shrink? Did it grow? Did it stay the same?)

Other • Our Control: The right-side-up plant. • Independent Variable:The plant upside down.

• Dependent Variable: The growth of the plant.

OUR CONCLUSION • Our conclusion is that plants can grow

against gravity. I wasn’t very surprised because that was our hypothesis. However, I think we were only half right because while growing upside down, the plants curved themselves because they want to grow right side up. I wonder if from seeds, plants can grow against gravity?
