FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS Is it a problem if I have vacation scheduled in the middle of my course? The online courses can be completed anywhere there is internet access. As long as a student attends the first and last day of class and is able to complete their work, they can participate in the course from anywhere in the world. What if I fail the online summer school course? You may request through the Alternative Education Center that your summer grade not be sent/posted to your transcript if you are not satisfied with the grade you receive in your summer course. Do I have to attend the Parent Information Night? No. It is not required but it is recommended if you’ve never taken an online course before. REGISTRATION:

AFTER REGISTRATION:

I’ve registered for my course, now what? You will receive an email from CVUSD one week prior to the start of your course. This email will have the website address you need to log into, user name/password, and confirmation of the course for which you are registered. Can I take a 2nd semester course in Session 1 or a 1st semester course in Session 2? No. First semester courses may only be taken during Session 1. Second semester courses may only be taken during Session 2. Who can I ask course specific questions? You will need to contact the teacher directly for course/content specific questions. I signed up for a course because I thought I was going to fail it, but I didn’t. Can I get a refund? No. There are no refunds issued. You may change the course you registered for by contacting the Alternative Education Center at (909) 591-3682. Registration is open until June 27th for 2nd semester courses to ensure time for final grades to be posted prior to registration. AFTER THE PROGRAM/COURSE:

Can I retake the course or get an extension? There are no extensions given. You must complete the coursework and the final within the start and end dates of the course. You are able to retake the course (for a fee) next summer. How is my final grade posted to my transcript? If you are a student in the CVUSD, your grade and credits will be automatically entered on your transcript. If you are a student outside of CVUSD, you will need to complete a Transcript Request Form prior to the end of the session. (The form may be found on our website at www.chino.k12.ca.us/domain/716 Click on Summer School 2016 then select the Transcript Request Form. Give this form to either your teacher or the office staff at the Alternative Education Center. The Center will complete a transcript and mail it to the records office at your home school at the end of the summer session.

Students will earn high school credits for the successful completion of courses offered through Chaffey College Community Education’s high school summer school partnership. These courses do not result in college credit, nor do they meet college prerequisite requirements. To register, follow the instructions below: Students must receive their high school counselor's signature on the Alternative Credits Form, approving course requests prior to enrolling. Please click on the following link for the form: www.chino.k12.ca.us/domain/716 Visit www.chaffey.edu/communityed; then click on “Register” • Click on “Register Online” • Read the Register & Pay for Community Education Classes Instructions, and then click “Continue” at the bottom of the page. • On the “Search For” (Key Word) line, type in Chino • The high school courses will appear. Be sure to choose the proper semester (1 or 2) for the course you need. Please disregard screen that provides a temporary password. This information is for students registering for college courses at Chaffey. It does not apply to students registering for CVUSD Online High School Summer Programs. Passwords for the high school online courses will be provided by CVUSD.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS Do I need to be a CVUSD student to register? No. Any high school student may sign up/register for these courses. Do I need my school’s permission to register? No, but you will need the Alternative Credits Form signed by either your principal or counselor. This ensures that your school will accept your credits earned so that they may be posted onto your transcript. Where do I get the Alternative Credits Form? The form can be downloaded from the CVUSD Alternative Education Center website at www.chino.k12.ca.us/domain/716. Click on the “Summer School 2016” tab; the form is located to the right. Are the courses NCAA approved? Yes. Do the courses meet A-G requirements? Yes. Do I need to physically attend class? No, but you will need to attend the first day of class and the last day of class for finals. Science courses require in-class, hands-on wet lab hours. Teachers have lab hours available if you need help or need to come to class. Are the teachers college professors? No. They are high school teachers. Are there a maximum number of courses/credits that I can earn in this program? We recommend taking no more than 2 courses per session; however, you may take as many courses as your counselor/principal will allow.

Do students get high school or college credits? Students are taking high school level courses and receive high school credits for the course. They do not receive college credits.
