Chicago, IL: Chicago politics are upon us as tax payers ponder, and wonder who’s hand they will entrust their future. Voters, may I suggest consulting God in prayer, investigate each candidate, and then ask tons of questions as you’re demanding tons of answers. Many political candidates will promise what they will deliver, but will often deliver broken promises! The City of Chicago and The State of Illinois, has allegedly been for sell to the highest bidder, while its properties have been auctioned-off for not even ‘30-pieces of silver.’ And, as you might know, the hard-working tax payer will have to shoulder the blunt of this financial disaster. The rich becomes - the richer, while the poor becomes poorer. As City and State, Chief Executives, made decisions to prostitute tax-payers dollars, while willing elected officials sat in their comfort-zones, taking liberties to support wrong decisions.

Parents: It is Better to Obey God Rather Than Man! International: Christians: If we say we fear God, which is the beginning of wisdom, why don’t we obey Him when it comes to the rearing of our children? The scriptures say that we should train a child in the way they should go, and if they disobey, the question is does one obey God with the ‘rod’ on a child, or should one obey the written-law-of-the-land? The law tells us that if a parent abuse the child, it ‘could’ mean the parent(s) might be subjected to jail! Question: What constitutes abuse? Christians: We have felt the results of disobedience to God, and the results are jails and prisons, and a heart-broken family. Christians: Should We Go Back to God?

: Some voters are expecting President Barack Obama, to work miracles over-night, when infact the problems at hand didn’t start ‘over-nights’ but some 8-plus-years earlier under the auspices of one President George W Bush. : To lay blame on others is a way-of–life for some politicians, however, when it comes to saving the lives of tax payers, every sane politician ‘should’ be on the same page - Democratic's and the Republicans.

Rev. Fred Shuttlesworth No history regarding the civil rights movement would be complete minus Rev. Fred Shuttlesworth. Rev. : The African American community would like to hope, pray, and trust that the failure of not wanting to get along, is not a matter of old ways of doing things in these Not-So-United-States. And, if the President was a man of different complexion... would we get along then? With a pure heart, please say this is not the case of hate! The youths are watching us - and will play by our rules of engagement! : As youth stand on the corners watching grown-folks go about with their un-truths, they find little hope for the future, or for that of their children. Yes, youth fight with one another which is wrong, but they also see our leaders doing far greater crimes. Where is the example? : Why are so many Congressional members attending Sunday, Morning Church Services, weeping, only to leave the church with a new determination to ‘break hell-wide-open’ on the hill the following Monday. And we tell youth follow our example and go to Church? Something is not right! : We forget that we are going to leave this life - and will have to give accountability for the deeds done in the flesh. I don’t think we want to be guilty of would-have, could-have, or should-have done the right things on earth. So, let’s learn as obedience children-of-the-most-high God, as we are taught to

Vote! When you’re married, do you expect the husband or wife to come into the relationship making promised changes ‘right-away’ or would you think it should be done gradually? The President made promises, and quite honestly I’ve not seen anyone Democrats nor Republicans, do such a fast and remarkable job as Mr. President... except he has divine guidance. But, then of course, how in the world did he ever get there in the first place except by God’s intervention. Suggestion: The bible says that we should pray for those who have the rule over over, and that would be a plus. Give the president time and watch God move.

We recently celebrated the birthday of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. He came to earth to bring about change. The Prophets of old herald His coming, an angles appeared to the shepherds, and the wise men saw his star in the east. Jesus completed his job here on earth, and then returned to the Father in heaven. In like-manner, God the Father, still sends people to earth for the purpose of effecting positive change, and making a difference in the lives of others. Such a man was Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Doing the month of January we celebrate his birth. He was sent by God to be in the fore-front for change. He took on the mantle of a civil-rights advocate - fighting

for the cause of freedom, justice and equality for Black Americans. Bastions and strong-holds of segration were challenged and torn-down in Montgomery and Birmingham Alabama. His efforts there and other places riveted throughout the nation and its effect is still felt and seen today. Dr. King eventually paid the ultimate price for the cause which resulted in the lose of his life at the age of 38-years.

Served for years as president with the Birmingham Chapter of the Southern Christian Leadership Conference.

In the month of February, we celebrate Black History, commemorating the lives of Black Americans who helped to build this country, fought in its wars, made (and are still making) contributions in every area of society.

A large majority of the Woods family have given of themselves to serving humanity. Brothers and sisters include: Lottie, Dwight, Lois, Cathy, Dr. Roy, Bishop Calvin, Shirley, Franklin and other Woods around various states have made great contributions to the civil rights struggle.

I pray for the day when a special recognition month for the achievements and contributions of Black Americans will not be necessary, but we will instead be woven into the fabric of society, even the history books, highlighting our achievements along with those of White Americans. We need only look in the White House to be reminded that with God all things are possible.

Which Really Counts: Name Recognition or Votes? Think! In the world of politics they say name recognition counts. Well, out of two top named candidates vying for the ‘Mayoral Seat,’ can you say who would make the most outstanding Mayor for the City of Chicago? Can you tell the racial background of either of the two? Can you tell what the candidate has done in the community? If so, name them one-by-one! When was the last time you noted either candidate walking the streets of the city other than to campaign? Think: If your life depended on it - who’s care would you put it in? Who identifies best with you and that of your community? What named candidate would you take that walk to the polls for? Other candidates (not pictured) are too numerous to mention but all have good name recognition. Have fun thinking, but please VOTE!

Friends of the Park: Daley Misappropriated Federal Funds Friends of Meigs Field Says Mayor Daley Robbed City.

There are tax payers who consider the moves of Mayor Richard M. Daley, to send construction crews during the night to dig up chunks of Meigs Fields, less than an accomplishment.

They say, as reported in the Chicago Sun-Times, that Mayor Daley “misappropriated federal funds to accomplish his middle-of-the-night illegal destruction of a primary airport that was part of the national aviation system.” They said, “Daley had facilitated the 2003 Friends of Meigs’ plan “Parks and Planes: A vision for Meigs Field and Northerly Island” by seeking Federal Aviation Administration funding for the sale of the airfield from the Chicago Park District to the City of Chicago, the cash-strapped park district could have netted hundreds of millions of dollars. Allen, Communications Director for the Chicago Board of Election Commissioners, is urging everyone to come out in big numbers on February 22, 2011 and vote their conscience. Allen said January 25, 2011 is the last day to register and vote for the February 22nd election. He explained that if a candidate gets 50% plus 1 in any of the contests, that candidate wins and there is no run-off. So, turnout is key in this election. Allen said, "Early Voting will be offered from January 31st through February 17th. Early Voting is the option used by voters who have their minds made up, but if the ballot's not fully settled in one ward or for a citywide office if there's a legal question still unresolved, then some people may choose to wait until closer to Election Day to participate. Historically, the strongest participation in Early Voting has come in the final seven days of the program." If you don’t remember history, what do you pass on?

“New Killings Rolling Into 2011” Chicago, IL: Father Michael Pleger is correct when he says while the crime numbers were down, according to police official, new numbers of shootings and killings keep rolling into 2011. When will this violence end? When will lawmakers pass ‘commonsence’ gun laws that limit the number of weapons purchased, limit a person to buying one gun a month, reinstate the assault weapon ban, mandate that all gun sales include a background check of the buyer, and make criminal gun data public? When lawmakers do that, it will put a big dent in the number of shootings.
