Kayden Hern, 9, of Harlem, NY brought an entire auditorium of people to their feet as he recited a poem he calls “In My Mind.” Kayden’s oratory grabbed headlines after he delivered a thoughtprovoking poem on race during New York Governor Kathy Hochul’s Jan. 1 inauguration. “I heard my ancestor cry. They help clear the path so others do not have to die. Justice and peace, father please help me. That is what I heard in my mind,” Kayden aid during his recitation.

The first annual Young Entrepreneurs of Color Awards gala being held on March 23 will recognize and celebrate young entrepreneurs of color in WNY.
