Residents and elected officials from Washington County traveled to Austin on February 26 for the biennial Washington County Day at the Capitol. Held during legislative sessions, the event provides an opportunity for local citizens to engage with state lawmakers and highlight the county’s contributions to Texas.
Senator Lois Kolkhorst and State Representative Trey Wharton each presented resolutions in their respective chambers, officially recognizing Washington County Day. Attendees had the opportunity to

witness these proceedings from the House and Senate galleries and then visit with both legislators.
The day concluded with a private reception in the Lt. Governor’s Reception Room, where lawmakers and visitors enjoyed Blue Bell Ice Cream served by Washington County elected officials, along with BRIANNAS Salad Dressing as a special gift. The event continues to serve as a valuable way to connect local leaders with state representatives and showcase Washington County’s industries.
