Cork hoteliers hit the road for charity

Cork hoteliers hit the road for charity, Conor O’Toole General Manager of Clayton Hotel Cork City and Joe Kennedy General Manager of Maldron Hotel Shandon Cork, The ‘Great Dalata Cycle 2021’ in aid of CMRF Crumlin, wheeled out of Cork as part of their 1,100km journey throughout the island of Ireland which saw them visit a number of the Group’s Clayton and Maldron Hotels along the way. The route took them through Belfast, Derry, Sligo, Galway, Limerick and Cork before finishing in the Clayton Hotel Ballsbridge, Dublin.

August Cork Person of the Month

Bus Éireann sponsor of Cork Pride 2021

Bus Éireann was delighted to be a sponsor of Cork Pride 2021 for the third year. Bus Éireann is a service for everyone, and carries 15 million passengers in Cork city and county each year. Pictured Drag Queen Liam Bee and Stephen Lynch, Bus Éireann.

The countdown to the Irish Greyhound Laurels, is underway. Greyhound Racing Ireland (GRI) Chairman Frank Nyhan, was joined by Jimmy Barry Murphy, in his role as Chairman of “Friends of Cork Greyhound Racing” and John Linehan greyhound trainer with Runninta Seeya, Winner of the 2020 Irish Greyhound Laurels Final for the launch at Curraheen Park Greyhound Stadium. The final scheduled for Saturday 23rd October.

Revive Paint

October is National Reuse Month, and to help us play our part, Cork County Council and Cork City Council have launched an innovative circular economy initiative called Revive Paint, which involves the production of good quality, affordable paint by two Cork based social enterprises using paint which they collect from local authority civic amenity sites. The social enterprises involved are Northside Community Enterprise (NCE) in Farranferris, Cork City and Cycle Sense based in Skibbereen.

The Cork Car Show at the Cork International Hotel in association with Cork Airpiort took place at The Cork International Hotel recently. The event is a charity fundraising event and this year it raised funds in aid of Cope Foundation and Ability at Work. Hundreds of people attended the show where hundreds of classic and vintage cars , Harleys and Goldwings were on display.

Rebel Spirit Awards

The everyday heroes amongst us are to be recognised by the new, Rebel Spirit Awards, organised by Corkbased nancial services company MBC Financial. Designed to honour Cork people and companies that did sound things during 2020-2021 and kept us sane. There are 12 award categories for the Rebel Spirit Awards and members of the public can nominate people and companies they think should get recognition. All nominees will be considered by a panel of judges and the awards will be presented in the Metropole Hotel on November 17th , 2021. Further info at rebelspirit.ie
