Flutist Tara Helen O’Connor is a charismatic performer sought after for her unusual artistic depth, brilliant technique, and colorful tone in music of every era. Last season she premiered a new chamber work by John Zorn, made appearances at the Avila Chamber Music Celebration in Curaçao and the Ocean Reef Chamber Music Festival, and performed concerts in Hawaii and Georgia with CMS. She also gave her debut performance at the Mainly Mozart Festival with her wind quintet Windscape and returned to the festival to perform a concerto with Maestro David Atherton. This season she premieres Jonathan Berger’s new opera with the Saint Lawrence String Quartet in Stanford. She has appeared at Zankel Hall, Symphony Space, Music@Menlo,

She is a founding member of the Naumburg Award-winning New Millennium Ensemble, teaches at the Bard College Conservatory and Manhattan School of Music, is professor of flute and head of the wind department at Purchase College Conservatory of Music, and holds a summer flute master class at the Banff Centre in Canada. Winner of an Avery Fisher Career Grant and a two-time Grammy nominee, she was the first wind player to participate in the CMS Two program and is now an Artist of the Chamber Music Society.
PERFORMERS
Libby Garrett is a master of music bassoon candidate at the Yale School of Music. She is a Teaching Artist with the Yale Music in Schools Initiative and also teaches undergraduate lessons to Yale students. In addition, she volunteers at Bravo Waterbury, an after-school music program for urban students. This summer, Ms. Garrett worked as an intern with the Milwaukee Youth Symphony Orchestra in the development department. Ms. Garrett has undergraduate degrees in bassoon performance and gender studies with highest honors from Indiana University. Her teachers include Shawn Mouser, Theodore Soluri, William Ludwig, Kathleen McLean, and Frank
Morelli. A native of Milwaukee, Wisconsin, she has performed with the Milwaukee Symphony Orchestra and has twice received the honorable mention in the Milwaukee Symphony Young Artist Competition. She received first prize and the audience award in the 2009 Civic Music Association of Milwaukee Collegiate Music Competition. An avid runner, she completed two half marathons in 2011 and hopes to eventually run a marathon. Flutist Isabel Lepanto Gleicher is currently pursuing a master of music degree from the Yale School of Music with Ransom Wilson. This past
summer, Ms. Gleicher participated in the Norfolk Chamber Music Festival. She is one of the founding members of the Palindrome Ensemble, a group of musicians and composers performing new works to promote the performance of contemporary music. Ms. Gleicher attended LaGuardia High School of Music and Art and Performing Arts where she was a winner of the 2008 Concerto Competition. She began her flute studies in 1995 with Tanya Dusevic Witek, and received a bachelor of music degree from SUNY Purchase where she studied with Tara Helen O’Connor. Ms. Gleicher was a member of the Banff Festival Orchestra in the summer of 2010, and a member of the New York Youth Symphony Orchestra for the 2009-2010 season. In October of 2010, Ms. Gleicher performed at the Pepsico Performing Arts Center for a Gala honoring conductor Valery Gergiev. In 2011 she was the Second Place Winner of both the Kentucky and South Carolina Flute Society Young artist competitions, and in January of 2010 she won First Prize in the Kentucky Flute Society Collegiate Artists Competition. She has performed at Carnegie Hall in both the Stern Auditorium with the New York Youth Symphony Orchestra and Weill Recital Hall with the New York Youth Symphony Chamber Program. Hornist Craig Hubbard is currently pursuing a master of music degree at Yale University. He is a Fellow with the Music in Schools Initiative, a collaboration between the Yale School of Music and New Haven public schools. Mr. Hubbard received a bachelor’s degree from The Juilliard School. He has performed extensively as a recitalist, chamber, and orchestral musician and has appeared
regularly with The AXIOM Ensemble and The New Juilliard Ensemble. In 2009 and 2010 he jointly organized extensive orchestral training seminars with fellow Juilliard students in an “El Sistema” style youth orchestra in Salvador da Bahia, Brazil. He has attended several music festivals, including the Aspen Music Festival and School, Music Academy of the West, the Sarasota Music Festival, the Castleton Festival, New York String Orchestra Seminar, and the Norfolk Chamber Music Festival. Daniel James is pursuing a master’s degree as a student of Carol Wincenc at Juilliard. Committed to new music, he performs with Axiom, New Juilliard Ensemble, Focus Festival, Pulse: New Music, and EnsembleMix. As flutist of the Juilliard Orchestra, Orchestra Mozart, and the Orchestra of Teatro alla Fenice, Mr. James has performed with James Levine, Claudio Abbado, Riccardo Muti, Yannik Nezet–Seguin, Daniel Harding, Bruno Bartoletti, and Gerard Schwarz. Mr. James started The Daniel James New Music Project, which commissions and performs new chamber music. He has performed throughout the world, from a small town in Wisconsin to the Teatro alla Fenice opera house in Venice, Italy. Oboist James Kim is currently completing his artist diploma at Yale University under oboist Stephen Taylor. Before studying at Yale, he received a bachelor of music degree at The Juilliard School and a master of music at Stony Brook University. His former teachers include Pedro Diaz, Elaine Douvas, John Mack, Linda Strommen, and Richard Dallessio. Mr. Kim has spent past summers at the Norfolk Chamber Music Festival, Aspen Music Festival
and The Festival of the Youth Symphony Orchestra of the Americas in Puerto Rico. He has performed with a number of professionals and past teachers including Sarah Chang, Richard Woodhams, Stephen Taylor, Elaine Douvas, Pedro Diaz, and Frank Morelli. As a solo oboist and collaborator, Mr. Kim has performed in Carnegie, Alice Tully, Avery Fisher, Woolsey, and Morse halls with maestros Otto-Werner Mueller, James DePreist, James Conlon, David Zinman, Hugo Wolf, and Jajha Ling. Wai Lau is on the faculty at Mount Holyoke College. Born in Beijing, China in 1986, Ms. Lau began studying the piano at age 7, and the clarinet at age 13. She completed her undergraduate studies at Indiana University under the tutelage of James Campbell, and was awarded a Performer’s Certificate for outstanding performance in clarinet. She received her master of music from McGill University studying with Robert Crowley and Alain Desgagné on the Schulich Scholarship. Ms. Lau recently completed her artist diploma with David Shifrin at the Yale School of Music, where she was a teaching artist serving Yale’s community engagement programs. She won numerous competitions in Hong Kong in her teenage years, including First Prize in the Hong Kong region in the 2nd Asian Youth Music Competition. Ms. Lau performed a solo recital in Lodz, Poland in 2008 as a finalist of the 7th Alexandre Tansman International Competition. In 2010, she was awarded Grand Prize in the Canadian National Music Festivals Competition. She won the Harold Wright Award from the Boston Woodwind Society in 2011, and was awarded the Alumni Association Prize by the Yale School of Music in 2012. Ms.
Lau has been engaged in chamber music series at Festival of the Sound, the Banff Centre, Orford Arts Centre, Norfolk Music Festival, and Lachine Music Festival, collaborating with artists such as Russell Braun, James Campbell, Mark Fewer, Marc Johnson, Joel Quarrington, David Shifrin, James Sommerville, and Stephen Taylor. Joshua Sechan is pursuing a bachelor’s degree at The Juilliard School where he studies with Judith LeClair. He performed as principal bassoonist with the Midwest Young Artists Symphony Orchestra, the Illinois All-State Honors Orchestra, and the Chicago Symphony Youth in Music Festival Orchestra with conductors Cliff Colnot and Riccardo Muti. With his woodwind quintet, Mr. Sechan received first prize in the 2010 Chicago Discover Chamber Music Competition. He also won the 2011 Walgreens National Concerto Competition and performed the Mozart Bassoon Concerto in Chicago with baroque orchestra Ars Antigua. Mr. Sechan’s previous teachers include Ann Dufek, Francisco Ybarra, and David McGill. Katherine Siochi is a sophomore harpist studying with Nancy Allen at The Juilliard School. Throughout high school, Ms. Siochi performed frequently with orchestras such as the Cedar Rapids Symphony, the Iowa City Community String Orchestra, and the University of Iowa Orchestra. In 2009 she won first prize in the junior division of the American String Teacher’s Association national solo harp competition. She has appeared twice on NPR’s radio program From The Top, in 2009 and 2010. In 2011, she received a scholarship at the Annual Glenn Miller Scholarship Competition
for her award-winning performance and interview. This summer she was a recipient of the Anne Adams Awards, a national scholarship competition for harp majors. Ms. Siochi was also winner of the 2012 solo harp competition at the Aspen Music Festival and School. Previously

she has studied with Linda Wilson in Memphis, TN and Pamela WeestCarrasco in Iowa City, IA. In addition to the harp, Ms. Siochi studies the piano as a secondary instrument under Dr. Michael Shinn at The Juilliard School.
