YOUR DAY DOWNTOWN
So you made it downtown. (Though this isn’t a very hard thing to do when you consider our great new wayfinding signage!) Now it’s time to make it your own.
Begin your day with a nice picnic meal on our new covered Railway Viewing Platform and watch the trains go by. If you get downtown early enough, you may catch the Amtrak! Once you’re done with your meal, our myriad of quaint boutique shops and services will have opened up to serve you.

May we suggest a stop at Troup’s Studio & Hallmark store for the perfect gift, or The Chattel Shop and All Things Currahee if you’re looking for something handcrafted. Downtown Flowers provides an award-winning experience and will work with you to craft the expert bouquet.
There’s no greater experience than a local bookstore, so curl up at {Ash-Ling} Booksellers with your favorite novel, a board game, and a cup of coffee.
Our lunch options are numerous! Puerto Nuevo features the best Mexican dishes this side of the border (and maybe the other side!), and the X-Factor Grill & Cornerstone Restaurant provides a dynamic selection of entrees and more. If you want to experience an institution, there’s nothing like Shirley’s Sole Food, once featured on Alton Brown’s Feasting on Asphalt. You better get there early if you want a seat.
For more casual options, there’s always Domino’s Pizza, and don’t forget to conclude your lunch with something sugary from Victoria’s Sweet Treats. In the afternoon, spend hours wandering through our three-story Cornerstone Antique & Craft Market, and take a tour of our Downtown Historic Plaque program. Don’t forget to visit the Currahee Military Museum to experience the legacy of the men of Camp Toccoa, most famously memorialized in HBO’s Band of Brothers.
Your evening should begin with a show at the Historic Ritz Theatre, our historically restored downtown theatre, and enjoy your stay at the recently renovated Country Hearth Inn or the idyllic Simmons-Bond Inn Bed & Breakfast.
