END NOTES
Dear Summer Musical Theatre Patrons,
I would like to take this opportunity to share with you that I have been a fan of all three High School Musical films. I loved the time I have spent watching them with my daughters when they were growing up. It’s true. And we had planned on producing this show for the Summer Musical Theatre Intensive in 2020… but the world had a different plan that year as we shut down and only saw each other virtually.
This year we are soaring and flying with Disney’s High School Musical: On Stage! with exactly who is supposed to be here at this moment enjoying this experience and the world is exactly as it should be. Our young artists have spent less than three weeks together playing theatre games, learning music and songs, developing characters, working on their storytelling, choreography, staging, and through the magic of theatre have become a family.
They have learned the value of not sticking to the status quo and that they are all in this together! This is truly a youth summer stock experience with high expectations in a joyful environment like no other!
Thank you for your support of these young artists and let’s continue to encourage them to pursue what brings them joy and helps them find their authentic voice, their creativity, work collaboratively, and learn to explore a new way of seeing the world. A world where a jock and a brainiac can sing in a school musical, a skater can play the cello, hip hop dancing can be for anyone, and even a basketball player can bake if he wants to. We are not limited! Let’s celebrate each other!
Everyone involved in creating this production is truly special and we are grateful to everyone for sharing their gifts and their time with us!
Thank you for your support of live theatre and youth theatre programs! Let’s continue to encourage and sustain our love of the art in each other!!
My favorite part of summer… the Summer Musical Theatre programs through the Chaminade Center for Excellence!
Enjoy the show!
Go Wildcats!!
Yours in the Arts,
Yvette L. Bishop Director of Drama Program Chaminade College Preparatory High School
