One month. Give or take a few days… That's how long you have to get your trip to Las Vegas for CHAMPS Trade Shows winter expo planned.

By Elev A Chun

Now is the perfect time to think about some essential factors: 1. Store Needs 2. Flight 3. Hotel 4. Budget 5. Playtime First things first, Hopefully, as a store owner, buyer, or employee, you have a good idea of what is selling and what the customers want. CHAMPS would like to remind all buyers and vendors that Delta8 products are not legal in Nevada. So if that is on your needs list, there are plenty in this magazine to order from! The Las Vegas Convention Center has a complete ban on Delta 8 products. No marketing, no sales, no displays, and definitely NO Samples. Continues On Page 54 CHAMPS SHOW MAGAZINE

No Edible Samples of any kind can be handed out on the show floor, not even the lasagna your Gramma's made you bring to the show. Without prior consent from the Convention Center, all outside edibles will not be allowed. Second, always book your ticket three weeks or more in advance. This way, you are sure to get the best rates. Regarding number three, Hotels, CHAMPS Fills up the Tuscany Hotel and Casino, so go to the website and book now. This hotel is one of the best networking areas at night. If you cannot get a room at The Tuscany, Las Vegas is the home of entertainment at low prices so find your favorite spot. Fourth is the budget. It's a little harder to determine. When I managed stores, I used the "Open to Buy" method based on sales and inventory levels for certain months and on-hand cash. You can easily find how much you can afford to spend at a show for the expected months. It is excellent for seasonal purchasing approaches, especially after a busy holiday season. If you don't know how and want to try it, Google it! Next step, you should head over to CHAMPSMAP.com. The show is the largest one yet, so you will need to plan out your visit. 4 days to cover 475,000 feet of the trade show floor with around 2000 booths. I would map out my days carefully. To save time and maximize your potential, break it down to 3 zones 1 for each of the first three days. Once you've done that, you can use the 4th day to Continues On Page 30 20

watch the Masters awards as well as return to any booths you need to. It helps to have a good plan. The GLASS GAMES Master's Event is one of the most popular and prestigious competitions in the glass pipe scene. Usually, a 1-year culmination of events was extended due to Covid. Forty glassblowers from around the country won their way in over 100's of other artists over the past two years. At his year's Master's Final, "New Reality" will be the theme. I put some thought into this, and my mind went wild! You can interpret it in many ways, from something Current to something in the future: new Ideas, new techniques, new approaches, or even homage to futuristic plans. The crew over at Glass Games knocked this one out of the park. Once you've got the work out of the way, you can get into the PLAY! If your thing is music, Kool and the Gang, Santana, and many more big names will be performing in Vegas during the show dates. If performance art is your thing, there are always Blueman, Copperfield, and Cirque Du Solie's multiple shows. Places of interest that are popular with our crowd include: • AREA15's MeowWolf installation. • JBD's Las Vegas Dreams Factory. • An old-school favorite is the Neon Graveyard. All of these are places you can meet like-minded artistic individuals exploring the arts available in the city. See you there! Continues On Page 33 30

By Amear Moretall Photos by Botany Bay Staff I have known Ginny for many years. She is a delightful soul and is a true inspiration to all the other shops out there. She and her crew have weathered the storms over the last 25 years. Her stores have made it through every up and down of the industry rollercoaster. But now, here in 2022, she has just closed the door on one of her most successful years ever. Looking through their pictures, they care about their store and its appearance. A properly merchandised store is an essential part of the equation, that is, "retail sales”. Continues On Page 54 52

Look closely and learn some interesting tricks you might want to do in your own store. Ginny is a regular at many CHAMPS shows. She does a lot of her "Real Shopping" at the smaller shows, tends to network, and enjoys visiting the more extensive, busier shows. Ginny is also an avid traveler, adventurer, and foodie. You never know where she will pop up! Continues On Page 65

In Ginny's own words: “I’m grateful for Champs. My shops would not be what they are today without the trade show! And that's the total truth. It was a lot different in the 90's and much harder to find product.” "It's the place to buy things to do stuff with!” “I started this business out of an old station wagon in 1996 with $3500: so many experiences, stories, triumphs, failures. I love the flexibility of the retail space in the industry. It's so much fun to be creative about and with the products, and to have such cool merchandise that becomes a part of the decoration of the shop. We will be open for 25 years this year, and to say that this business has surpassed my wildest expectations is an understatement. I'm excited about where we can take it from here!" It was a pleasure to highlight such a well-established shop with a great staff. Ginny is always happy to talk to new shops and vendors, so say High if you see her at the show!
