DESIGN GUIDELINES

Habitat:

In making sure that the design fits in with the natural feel of the waterfront. There will be addition of special continuous water channel that reflect the surroundings and help to keep the area cool. The pool will transform into skating rinks during the winter to make use of the spaces throughout the year. There will also be the integration of clever ways to manage water, like letting it soak back into the ground. To reduce the strain on water drainage systems, green spaces will be built in a way that they will filter the water back into the earth and support sustainable water management.

Aesthetics:

The project will combine architecture and nature to create an incredible visual look of Port Credit. Green places introduced in the area will create a balance on the built-up spaces and natural areas, including fresh concepts for parks and gardens. The pier will be redesign to give walkable access to the people to enjoy the lake sight.

Artifact:

The nature of the Port Credit area is inspiring to make some incredible art installations. These will serve as unique monuments that will feature as focal points reminding the community of the stunning surrounding and give the area a unique character. The construction of well-designed water artifact will be one among the installations introduced to the site.

Place:

The aim is that everyone should have a sense of identity and belonging in Port Credit. For this reason, the area will be designed in a way that everyone will have pride in being a part of the community. Hosting of unique events and activities that unite the neighborhood and highlight what makes Port Credit special.

Wealth:

We are transforming Port Credit into an amazing tourism destination. We want to attract more tourists and strengthen the local economy by showcasing the culture and history of our city. We’ll also see to it that visitors have access to excellent dining options and lodging options by introducing high-quality restaurants and cafes and luxury hotels that will be strategically located to improve the experience for tourists and boost the local economy. The site also includes the causeway that will connect to the JC Saddington park which will close the loop for the bicycle route, that can encourage bike activity.

Nature:

The design focuses on preservation of the area’s natural beauty, this include conservation of the existing trees and ensure the building placement accordingly. Strives to ensure that the community’s parks and coastline are accessible to the visitors and community. More green spaces, water features, and environmentally friendly landscaping will all be included as part of the project.

System:

The project consists of many plans in place to make it easy and safe for the community and visitors to stroll around the area. Large walkways, crosswalks, ramps and beautiful promenade will be added that will facilitate easy mobility for everybody. There will be less amount of vehicular roads to provide the safety for the pedestrians and bike users. The project will also include the construction of easily walkable paths that connects to the main structures.

Problem:

Port Credit area is going farther away from nature as fewer people are walking around on the area to enjoy the views. The site does not have inviting public spaces with a car oriented setting. The projects intention is to alter that by creating a more welcoming and explorable environment where the community and visitors will enjoy strolling about and feel a connection to nature.

Ideology:

Among the goals of the design is to celebrate diversity and inclusivity. Establish areas where individuals from different walks of life can mingle and take in the wonders of nature. The spaces will be designed to create warm environments that can host a range of cultural events, encouraging a feeling of community and an appreciation for the beauty of nature in both community and visitors. The design will encompass the green roofs to improve the air quality and carbon reduction that will enhance the carbon neutral design.
