A PA R T M E N T S AT M Y S O R E Year: 2019-Present Area: 5000 sqft Architecture: Simpli-City Design Studio The aim of the project was to create a durable and maintenance free building within the specified budget. The idea for the apartments took shape through numerous iterations with particular attention to detail as well as its impact on the surrounding urbanscape.

Located on a 30’x50’ plot, the program consists of a rentable 1BHK on the ground floor and a rentable 2BHK on each floor. Located in Mysore, the project began in January 2020 and is ongoing.

H OT E L AT B O G A D I, M Y S O R E Year: 2019 Area: 70000 sqft Architecture: SKBR Infrastructures The 0.85-acre site at Bogadi is surrounded by coconut plantations. The design brief comprised a 90-room, 3-star hotel with a business center/conference room, games room, gym, spa, restaurant, café and rooftop pub (with a separate access), banquet hall, basement parking, service areas and administration department. The configuration of the site, building bye-laws and fire codes determined to a large extent the plan form of the design proposal. The location of the two cores and columnar structure determined by basement parking requirements forms the conceptual order of the building. The design of the remaining floors follows as a consequence of these considerations.

H OT E L AT N A N D I H I L L S Year: 2019 Area: 8000 sqft Architecture: Brick&Bolt Located at the base of Nandi Hills, the design brief comprised a small hotel or membership club located on two plots. The final design included 6 rooms of varying sizes, a restaurant and kitchen, parking for 3 cars, a swimming pool and games room. The idea was for a simple design predominantly utilising glass and steel to maximise views. Considering the prevalent building bye-laws, the construction on the smaller plot was to be designed as a temporary structure.

As an organisational strategy, the ground floor comprises of public and administrative areas with the first floor comprising of rooms.

R O W H O U S I N G AT KOT H A N U R Year: 2019 Area: 120000 sqft Architecture: SKBR Infrastructures Situated on a 2-acre plot, the brief comprised 4 and 5 BHK row houses as housing for doctors.

The design is composed of a vertical interlock, where the houses are duplexes with the lower unit utilising the entirety of the ground floor footprint and half of the first floor; and the upper unit utilising half of the first floor and the entirety of the second floor. The concept was for a simple, affordable mode of construction that reflects in the design of common balconies between bedrooms and the compaction of spatial volumes.

C LU B H O U S E F O R I M A, S U L L I A Year: 2019 Area: 13500 sqft Architecture: SKBR Infrastructures The proposed project is located on a contoured site of 30000 sqft. The brief comprises a clubhouse as a gathering space for doctors and members of the Indian Medical Association. It includes an auditorium, amphitheatre, guest house, dining area and library.

Considering the climate of the region - hot and wet - local materials such as laterite stone was considered in the conceptualisation of the project. A contemporary vocabulary of sloped roofs derived from the local architecture was adopted as an appropriate solution considering the heavy rains in the region.
