GO SOCIAL
Share your personal giving page link on social media as well as inspiring stories from your branch.
You will receive updates on which of your prospects have given and your fundraising status. We will send the donor a formal letter/receipt. Be sure to thank your donor personally!
Stories Inspire!!
KNOW the"CASE" for Giving
Understanding how campaign funds are used and the impact they can have is motivating to donors
Learn/Share a Story of Impact
You will hear some testimonials of how the Y has supported youth and families in significant ways - remember one that speaks to you and share it with others.
MAKE YOUR GIFT FIRST
Your gift demonstrates your commitment and belief in the YMCA. After making a personal gift, it is much easier to ask someone else to do the same.
KNOW YOUR PROSPECT
Know prospects interests and giving capabilities (staff can help). Find out if they have been involved in the Y before and share information on programs they’ve been involved in.
KNOW YOUR Y STORY
When you speak as a sincere, caring person who’s talking from the heart, people listen. Think of the reasons why you decided to volunteer and give to the Y- share that passion.
ASK FOR A SPECIFIC AMOUNT
Prospects respond when asked for a specific amount. Aim high and emphasize what the donation will accomplish! If a pledge, be sure to capture a payment plan/ schedule for our records.
CALL BEST PROSPECTS FIRST
Get off to a good start and build confidence as you ask for gifts. Plus, each commitment received gives you an even stronger position in subsequent solicitations. COMMUNICATE!
Stay in communication with your team/captain. Team member communication is motivational and you can share ideas/struggles with your peers. Ask for help! We are all in this together :)
AnnualSupportCampaignFAQ’s/Suggested Responses
What is the YMCA?
The YMCA is a not-for-profit 501(c)3 charitable organization funded by membership and program fees, contributions from YMCA friends, corporations, foundations, and grants. We are joined together by a shared commitment to nurture the potential of children, promote healthy living, and foster a sense of social responsibility
"Why should I give money to the Y? I already pay membership dues".
Dues cover the cost of running the Y, from the staff who greet you to the equipment available and provide you with the best member experience. Campaign funds financial assistance (scholarships for low income youth and families, as well as other mission-focused programs like Learn To Swim and Live Strong that are not funded through membership dues. Your support in this campaign will provide safe, high quality, character-building programs for children, teens, adults, and families who need our Y, but lack the financial resources to participate.
“Someone already contacted me.”
We apologize for the inconvenience. With a number of volunteers raising funds, we occasionally have situations in which a contribution is requested from someone who has already been contacted.
Can a donor use a credit card to make a gift? Can they make a gift online?
Donors can give you a credit card to make a gift. There is a place for credit card information on the pledge card. Donors can also go to CIYMCA.ORG/GIVE and make a gift online. Make sure they select their desired branch.
Do we accept gifts of stock? What about in-kind gifts?
Gifts of stock are accepted - stock transfer information is on our website. For additional assistance, contact your Branch Executive Director. In-kind gifts can be accepted, but will not count towards Annual Campaign goals –contact your Executive Director to see if the gift will be accepted.
"What happens if I am unable to pay my pledge?"
Naturally you make your pledge in good faith. If unforeseen circumstances make it impossible for you to fulfill your pledge, or if doing so would cause you and your family an undue hardship, you may defer or cancel your pledge simply by notifying the YMCA. Partial payment is also accepted.
"Why should I give to the Y? I’m not a member".
Your support is still needed! You benefit by having a strong YMCA in our community that provides meaningful opportunities to help young people grow into responsible adults. The YMCA makes our community a better place to live and work
"
Is my contribution tax deductible?"
Yes. Your contribution is voluntary and brings no special privileges other than the satisfaction of giving, therefore is deductible to the fullest extent of the law. Our Tax ID is 95-164-3369
