EMPOWERING FUTURE GENERATIONS
Youth and Family Services I want to help the YMCA support my community. I would like my donation to continue supporting vital programs at the Y.
Helping to shape and support community youth is one of the core missions of YMCA Youth & Family Services. Our amazing staff and volunteers work every day to make lives better. We are so proud and overjoyed when one of our youth reaches for the stars and achieves their dreams.

Maria, one of our St. George youth, came to our facility when her parents moved to Isla Vista ten years ago. Her bedroom overlooked a quaint community park and nestled on the other side was the YMCA St. George Youth Center. She watched from her window as local families and even her friends were welcomed into the community center every day.

“The reason I came here is that it seemed like a welcoming place, especially to all the children of Isla Vista. I remember running from school, crossing the park, trying to be the first one there. It was such a great hangout spot for all of us. St. George helped me get out of my comfort zone and helped me build passion and ambition for things I would have never imagined,” Maria explains. We are so grateful to provide a safe space for Maria to come and grow as well as be mentored by our amazing staff.
Our dedicated staff helped to provide academic support, mock interviews, and writing help that allowed Maria to be accepted into Dos Pueblos Engineering academy. This fall she will be starting her latest journey and attending college with a merit scholarship, pursuing her passion, engineering. Maria is just one of the many youths who get support from the YMCA every day. Generous donations from our community help to run not just St. George, but Noah’s Anchorage Youth Shelter, and our homeless outreach service, My Home. Consider becoming a donor today and help community youth just like Maria.
