Interview With Mrs ElliotT
Mrs Elliott kindly agreed to an interview with the Junior Skipping Out team! Find out Mrs Elliott’s answers to Kiki and Emily’s questions below! Roughly how many meetings do you have a day? Some days I can have ten, some days twenty, and some days just one. How much of your time do you spend in the junior school? Not enough, I would love to spend more time there. I’ll tell you a secret; if I'm having a bad day at the Senior School, I sometimes come over to the Junior School! It always makes me smile. What did you want to be when you were older? I wanted to be a journalist and write for a newspaper. What school did you go to and what was your memory there? Lancaster Girls Grammar, I have so many good memories. I hated being absent and I loved going to school. What is your new years resolution and why did you make it? To make more time for exercise and I particularly enjoy walking my dog. Do you have an pet? Yes I do, Connie the Cockapoo. Whats your favourite event in the school calendar? That’s a really difficult question; probably all the fun we have at Christmas. If you could describe Channing in 3 words what words will they be? Beautiful, successful and smart.

WOMBLING FREE AT FAIRSEAT th
Forty-‐three years ago, on 5 February 1973, a children’s programme called “The Wombles” appeared on television for the first time. The Wombles are kind and ingenious creatures, who care for the environment. They live together in an burrow under Wimbledon Common and they spend their time collecting all of the litter that people leave behind. Wombles are rather shy. They don’t like to be seen by people, they hate loud noises and they are very scared of dogs! Wombles are cuddly and lovable. They have white fur and velvety muzzles and paws. The television programme became very popular. th
On the 4 March, an unusual, furry guest came to visit Fairseat. The guest wore a wide, brown hat and a woollen scarf. Can you guess who it was? It was Orinoco one of the Wombles! Orinoco can usually be found asleep in a nest of leaves, or napping on a park bench, so we were very lucky that he stayed awake long enough to visit us. At first, Orinoco was too shy to speak to us, but we were allowed to ask him some questions and he was able to answer us by nodding, or shaking his head and holding up his fingers and thumbs. These are some questions we asked Orinoco: Do you have any brothers, or sisters – Yes (big nod) How many brothers? Two (showing two fingers) How many sisters? One (showing one finger) Have you ever met the Queen? Yes (nodding) How many marks would you give Fairseat for cleanliness? 10 out of 10 (showing all ten fingers) Is it important to recycle? Yes (two thumbs up) Have you noticed our recycling bins – Yes (lots of enthusiastic nodding) Do you use the bath? No (shook head, looking a little bit embarrassed) Much too soon it was time for Orinoco to leave. He gave each of us a high five with his soft paw. It was a very exciting visit, but I think that Orinoco looked ready for a nap. By Eibhlin 3G

WORLD BOOK DAY March 2016 World Book Day is a celebration! It's a celebration of authors, illustrators, books and (most importantly) it's a celebration of reading. In fact, it's the biggest celebration of its kind, designated by UNESCO as a worldwide celebration of books and reading, and marked in over 100 countries all over the world. On World Book day we all enjoyed dressing up as our favourite book character! Some special outfits included the tiger who came to tea, and the naughty girl Alex who goes to school! All of the teachers dressed up too! Even our doors dressed up! Classes had to design their door like their favourite book. The winning doors were decided by illustrator Neal Layton, who came to visit our school. The winners were: Reception M and 3G! Well done to everyone for taking part.
HARRY POTTER COMES TO CHANNING SCHOOL! Can you recognise these two terrible teachers?! Mr and Mrs Twit! Who did you dress as for World book Day? 6

Each Year group participated in a fantastic range of activities, including making fruit salad in Reception, and designing their own Smoothie Cafes, working out prices and change for smoothies, in Year 3. The inspiring group A-life came in to run a workshop for every year group, and girls enjoyed the hands on activities such as a balanced diet see saw, and wearing the 'tired' googles to try and brush the teeth model properly!

A page about… Dogs By Julia, 3G Here at Channing, we all love animals. We think carefully about how to look after animals- our charity in the Spring term is WWF- supporting endangered animals. Here is a short dog poem to make you smile: Dogs Dogs can be cute, Dogs can be naughty, Dogs can be funny. We love dogs! By Julia
The best thing about dogs is they always can smell their owners! Do you have a dog? Which breeds are your favourite?
DID YOU KNOW: Dogs only have sweat glands in their paws. More specifically, they are found between their paw pads. That’s why it can help to wet the bottom of their feet on a hot day, and it’s also why dogs rely on panting as a means of cooling down.

SIT COMFORTABLY AND ENJOY THIS TERRIFYING SHORT STORY! Once upon a time there was a top secret council of ‘Super Teachers’. They were the best superheroes in the universe. No one could stop them from saving the world- except Mr Rich, the most wanted villain in Europe! Mr Rich disliked all the superheroes because they always catch him stealing money (and that is how he became rich). One day the super teachers spotted Mr Rich steal some money with Miss Goldstein (his side kick). As they left the bank, Miss Phipps tripped them up with a road of chips! Suddenly, Mr Rich released his bag of evil villain worms, but Miss Younger turned the villains- and the worms- into babies, which terrified the villains! The worms crawled into a sack that the Super Teachers took to Mrs Lawrance ,the judge! At court she declared that their punishment would be to teach at the most evil school in London called Channing School for Evil Girls. There Mr Rich, became a teacher along with Miss Goldstein, and as far as we know they are still there to this day‌ . OR ARE THEY?? Find out next term !!! Welcome to Junior Skipping Out’s Agony Aunt page- ‘Ask Astrid’! Some girls have shared their problems with Astrid, and she has answered with some helpful solutions! Enjoy! Created for you by Edie and Izzy, Y6 Dear Brother Blues,
Dear Astrid, My brother used to be adorable and he still is, but he has learnt the art of annoying and I don’t know what to do?
A lot of sisters really love their brothers. Sometimes my friends will be moaning about their brothers and the next minute they will be saying how much they love them. Try to make as many good memories with him as possible. Astrid
From Brother Blues
Dear Stage Coach Sadness, I know it is tough when your friend achieves something you desperately want. But you must not let this effect you and your friendship. Sure you didn’t get the part that you want but there will more chances in the future, for you and your acting. We advise that you don’t have a negative attitude and congratulate your friend. Astrid
