• New Gulin is envisioned to be a regenerative, harmonious and sustainable city. Our approach is to propose a Tapestry green of Gulin constituted by 5-color passages, including civic plaza, market place, vitality plaza, green sanctuary, park of prospect. • The design for a socially and culturally vibrant, ecologically-balanced urban center is integral to strategical planning for the city, as well as environmental protection and conservation of resources.

• The main components of the campus are teaching buildings, office buildings, a natatorium, a dormitory, a dining hall and playgrounds. By carefully calibrating and consolidating available land, the campus is envisioned to provide a comfortable atmosphere for studying under maximum utilization. The construction document drawings of the natatorium mainly focus on the swimming pool and its details. Also we are trying to control the cost within limited budget by designing elevations and choosing materials.

• This project utilizes the residual spaces of the proposed master plan for Itaquera to integrate land parcels that have been separated by topography and road infrastructures. Through the implementation of new programs, such as, pedestrian paths, public spaces, new housing typologies , artisan studios, a new subway, and a monorail station, Archipelago Itaquera encourages the continuous linkage between local and the regional programs.

• We are proposing to create a transformative superimposed infrastructure which connects the overloaded Manhattan side of East Harlem to the underutilized Randall’s Island and re-think the space of the waterfront to improve health issues faced by the community. • The Low Line is a tidal multipurpose landscape across the water, encouraging people to take part in an array of programs which are an extension of activities and events that already occur in the community in unhealthy settings.

Axes Regeneration (Academic) 2009.09-11

Published in On-site Survey Collection of The Preservation Planning of Zhengding, 2009.11

Location: Zhengding, Hebei Province, China Program: Historic area renovation/ Housing Solo Work (Academic) Institution: Tsinghua University Director: Prof. Jie Zhang Realization: Under Approval

VII

Historic cities in China have complexities with development and conservation. Zhengding is such an centuries-old city where several pagodas of national treasure are blocked by low-density residence. The concept is to revive the influence of pagodas by regenerating their cross axes through communities and all over the city. Axis I ——Open space for the community/ Landscape corridor for the city Axis II ——Commercial area for the community/ Axis rehabilitation for the city

• On 5/12/2012, a magnitude eight earthquake ripped through China’s Sichuan province, killing nearly 70,000 and leaving hundreds of thousands homeless. • The sequence of exhibition tries to represent the tragedy not only physically but spiritually and evoke a serial of emotions by controlling skylight environments. In the light of spirit, visitors could pray for the souls of the departed. In the light of life, people are shown about how survivors of the earthquake suffer from homelessness just like the floating water wave shaped light reflected on walls. Finally, visitors are led to the light of hope as for strong wills and bright futures.
