ONCE UPON A TIME‌.

NACSound is the creation of Italian acoustic designer Francesco Pellisari. In 1992 while working as an industrial robot designer, he spent some time with Acoustic Research to follow his passion for acoustics. Once back in Italy he struck out on his own and in 1995 established Acoustic Design and built his ďŹ rst speaker. Over the years he has collaborated with big names such as Ken Ishiwata, Roy Allison and Ron Arad. By 1997 Acoustic Design had become New Acoustic Concept (NAC), a company dedicated to manufacturing highly individualistic speakers without compromising audio quality. NACSound handmade speakers are now sold worldwide but the company remains small and independent, dedicated to combining exciting design with high-quality sound.

3

Every speaker has its own story to tell. Each one is unique and distinctive with the design, art and technology skilfully united. Every speaker must undergo many minute and manually intricate processes before completion as a high quality product. As our speakers are handmade to order we are able to build speakers that are exclusive to our customers requirements

installation requests. Customisation can vary from simple, individual preferences to complex projects. Small or large we always adopt the same approach: create exclusive models to suit every project, taking into account the choice of materials, colours to suit the setting and technological solutions.

4

After decades of of applied acoustics and design, o ers an avant-garde technical consultancy with special regard for fundamental design and engineering matters.

Every piece is carefully handcrafted by expert craftspeople perpetuating centuries-old, traditional techniques. This is a complex journey involving many professions and places from Deruta in Umbria, a city famous for the exceptional properties of its soil, to Faenza in Emilia where experts produce custom-made pieces for many of the most important artists to Marcon, an industrial centre close to Venice which has become one of Italy’s most productive regions.

Speakers with Wi-Fi (without audio cables and control links) but with their own electrical connections o er easy y. The modular and cable-free system means that each speaker can be hung from the ceiling, wall panels or false ceiling without the need for supplementary, The acoustic image is produced when the brain senses an acoustic wave and together with other data, such as where the sound comes from, it draws a three-dimensional image identifying the sound, its direction and volume. Our approach is not only the study of the acoustic waves, their measurements and graphics, but is also based on the awareness of psychoacoustics, or rather how the sound is interpreted by the human brain.

The NACSound patented omnidirectional technology allows the speakers to radiate sound spherically. This creates a stable sound emitted equally in all directions. With none of the usual positioning restrictions, the mechanical resonance is reduced to produce a rich, natural and consistent sound almost everywhere in the setting. By suspending the speakers from the ceiling it is possible to adjust them for any requirement.

All NACSound speakers are available in the waterproof “Patio” version designed for outdoor use. This waterpr method has a special insulating cone placed inside a double plexiglass disc at the back of the speaker. This seals a 7.2 mm diameter cable encasing the two electrical wires and the steel suspension cable.

The ceramic speakers are shaped and glazed by hand. This material has excellent acoustic properties producing a neutral and pure sound. Ceramic is extremely itself to hand-crafted and industrial production methods. But when red it becomes very rigid and further reduces unwanted resonance. Other materials are also used, including aluminium, wood, reglass. 7

CLASSIC LINE

OMNI

Time means nothing for some objects because they are designed to delight. Some ideas are created and instantly copied to become objects of desire and forever loved. Time for these objects is called history and is a journey down a road rich with praiseworthy results and kept promises. Promotion to a ‘classic’ can only be achieved through formal coherence and technical excellence. A timeless object marks a milestone and becomes a new benchmark of taste and style. These qualities sum up the essence of the speakers from the Classic line: a collection representing the genesis of NACSound’s production through time and design trends.

“Give it all you’ve got”. This is the aim of the speakers from the Power line. They have a clean shape built around a powerful body that encases powerful acoustic components. They have a power that restores familiar, vibrant sensations to nature’s ample spaces. This collection typifies NACSound’s design objective for high-performance speakers. Their fluid natural power creates a unique listening experience. If only the best is good enough, these speakers offer a spontaneous, fresh experience with every ‘play’.

If ‘breaking boundaries’ means to take on a challenge then this is NACSound ’s motto. Every project aims to open new perspectives, make a breakthrough, create awareness and collaborate. All the speakers from the Evolution line follow these principles. New materials, shapes and technology are the catchwords for this collection. The common thread linking all these products is a passion for research with a look to the future for unexpected technical discoveries. Evolution is ongoing and this also applies to the innovation in these designs.

DESIGN ART LINE

When technology unites with creativity anything is possible, next add a touch of good taste and we have originality. The Design Art line marks an artistic pinnacle and is the natural outcome of a journey, both professional and human. The artistic elements of the construction determine the outcome and each piece is unique and numbered. Their spectacular aesthetic merits equal their impeccable audio value. To listen, look and touch together with the desire to recognise the sublime, beyond the confines of the ordinary, are key to a deep understanding of creativity.

ZEMI

A sphere shaped ceramic with its own unique aesthetic, Zemi can be either suspended from the ceiling or placed on any convenient surface in its own holder. Zemi uses NAC Sound’s patented central ceramic r y, based on a variable section pipe which passes through the sphere, to create a high quality and natural sound with exceptional clarity of image. With an output of more than 70W and an extension range at low frequencies of 40Hz, it is designed for all types of music, and it o ers a perfect load r museums, restaurants or shops. It is also perfect for home theatre systems, particularly if coupled with a set of omnidirectional speakers. The new model Zemi MK represents a further evolution of the Zemi idea. With its larger 160mm drive unit and its own sub-woofer Woof, Zemi MK is a more powerful model, offering up to 150W output.

ATUN

A AC Sound speaker to be developed with omnidirectional and transmission r y rom the enhanced sound quality o ered from being suspended from the ceiling; and today it remains at the heart of the omni-directional range. Handcrafted in a ceramic body, Atun has a hardwood central r r. With an output of 100W, it o ers an exceptional presence. Atunssound is natural and lifelike and, thanks to an excellent Scan Speak tweeter, it yields superbly clean and precise sound imaging at all frequencies. In addition, each pair of speakers is matched with tolerances of less than 5%, resulting in a more even and matched sound than is found with most speakers. Atun Power is a more recent addition to the NAC Sound range. With a similar form and size to the classic Atun but an output of 150W, this model has been designed for professional use in, for example, recording studios and concert halls.

INGO

The Ingo is an impressive dish that will be the new centrepiece of your sound system. With its bold shape and strong visual impact this speaker makes an immediate statement of quality design. It is a Francesco Pellisari acoustic construction so you are assured of a superior stereo sound quality. This is derived from the frontfacing driver and tweeter set-up which is uniquely enhanced by a rear-facing woofer. The ceramic itself is hand-made porcelain, heavy and rigid enough to produce a clean natural sound but with no signs of resonance. Whether it sits on a table or mounted on a wall, it will provide many years of visual and acoustic pleasure. We picture here the amazing platinum ish, which positively gleams. It is also available in the full range of N ACSound’s ceramic . What is more, this is a pure Italian product. The ceramics are made in the Umbrian foothills and ished in Tuscany; the drivers and electronics are N ACSound designed and are all sourced and ed in Italy.

FREEWHEELER

40

252 220 52

Created in collaboration with designer Ron Arad, Freewheeler is a cordless stereo speaker wheel that can be rolled around, indoors or outside. Made of high-quality lacquered wood, it has the unique quality of generating a high quality stereo sound from one component instead of the usual two separate elements. The sound signal is conveyed directly from the CD player to the speaker by a two-way FM transmitter. A receiver inside the wheel picks up the signal, reo channels and then sends the two signals to a battery-run inter r. The signals are then sent in opposite directions to two multi-directional coaxial speakers. This produces two separate sets of sound waves which in turn create the stereo e ect. Available in NAC Orange or Cool White, it can also be made to order in any colour.
