.intro / brief

I have a bachelor degree in Architecture and now that my studies are concluded, I am looking forward to applying my skills and passion for architectural design and planning in a professional setting.

I also feel I possess the necessary personal and professional qualities to meet the demands of the opportunity. I take pride in capturing the finest of details allowing me to construct precise technical drawings. I learn quickly and constantly strive to succeed and excel expectations. I have excellent communication skills and enjoy interacting with clients and colleagues, with the ability to work well as a member of a team, while constantly driving to be confident and assuming responsibility for independent work. My other skills include an excellent working knowledge of CAD programs, SketchUp and the Adobe Creative Suite. I have limited experience with Autodesk Revit, but am confident in my ability to quickly master use of the program especially with my A-Level qualification in computing and modular coding study at university. What I believe makes me an ideal candidate at your practice Is my need to help local communities by providing them a service of urban design that not only they can live in but thrive in. With this passion for urban design makes me a naturally enthusiastic and self-motivated person. I would welcome the opportunity to discuss and show more of my work and speak to you in person.

.proffesional experience 2018

KTN Refurbishment + Building contractor My current position as a labourer has seen me tackle many roles, working within a team or working on my own, I excel with my ability to understand and execute methods of building. Working with large materials quickly made me learn about health and safety knowledge and building regulations, as well as understanding how to work and leave a site safely. I also enjoyed searching for near by and cost effective building merchants within a short drive from the site. Other skills learnt were brick laying, Painting, re-plastering, re-tiling, crazy paving, heavy machinery use (i.e. Kango), floorboards (removal & installing) & mixing concrete.

2016/17

Wyveale Garden centre + sales assistant In this temporary summer position I gained valuable experience in customer service as well as developing my social skills working with new people. During this hot period I spent a lot of time working in a fast pase environment this constantly tested me on working efficiently under pressure to work to customers needs. 2015

AMEC + Urban design experience

I was lucky enough to have gained work experience with a company called AMEC, one of the world’s leading engineering, project management and consultancy company last Summer where I worked with their design team. This showed me the commitment and dedication I need to put into my work to have a successful career as the experience introduced me to many elements of the job. I sorted files, made portfolios and created a hand-out for a meeting. The greatest skill I learnt though was the basics of CAD and sketch up.

.personal interests

Outside of academia and employment, I frequently play hockey where I have won the Kent Cup and reached Nationals where I went to continue with my team on a 5 week tour around Australia. From this I fell in love with travelling, I also enjoy going to the gym and playing football.

VERTICAL GARDEN

A New Civic Face + North Bank, London My project is planted within the centre of London on Paul’s Walk, North Bank. My new civic face is constructed from many rich programmatic ideas and was reconstructed by my fascination of creating depth, shadow and navigation. This strategic design tackled the lack of cultural space by the Thames and its poor transportation of people along a varse stretch of public walkways.

Navigation of proposal

1:100 PLANS + USE OF THE ROUTES

These plans are cut 2.5M above each of my pathways as shown on the section. Exploding my plans to1:100 I hope to build a three dimensional navigational path That leads the user through my programmatic brief. The user is then allowed to experience unique and exciting perspectives while guided through the facade. LEVEL 3 E

WHEN A USER REACHES THE TOP OF THE FACADE THEY CAN EITHER GO LEFT TOWARDS ANOTHER SOCIAL SPACE OR TRAVEL PARALLEL TO THE SEA WALL AND EXPERIENCE LONG VARSE ENCLOSURES WHERE THE BIRD AVIARY IS DESIGNED FOR SMALL BIRDS THAT PREFER TO FLY MUCH HIGHER OF THE GROUND AND ACROSS THE FACADE’S ENCLOSURE. THIS WILL WELCOME THE USER EXPERIENCE AS THE PUBLIC WILL FEEL OVERWHELMED FROM BEING SUSPENDED 21M ABOVE THE GROUND WITH THE BIRDS.

D

ONCE A USER HAS COMMITTED TO PROCEEDING TO THE NEXT FLOOR THEY WILL BE TAKEN ON A NEW JOURNEY WHERE THEY LEAVE THE MARKET PLACES BEHIND AND ENTER A WORLD OF EXOTIC BIRDS THIS WILL BE CAPTURED BY ENCLOSING WITHIN THE FACADE AND SURROUNDING THEM WITH DIFFERENT ENCLOSURES OF BIRDS. ONCE ON THE JOURNEY THEY WILL BE TAKEN TO THE THIRD FLOOR WHERE THEY CAN EXPERIENCE BEING WITH THE BIRDS OR CHOOSE TO GO BACK TO THE MARKET.

USER B WILL FIRST EXPERIENCE THE FERTILISED GARDEN THEN WILL WALK THROUGH THE CENTRE NAVIGATION DEVICE WHERE SHE ENDS IN THE VEGETABLE SIDE OF THE MARKET WHERE SHE CAN STOP TO REST OR CARRY ON TO EXIT THE SITE

USER C WILL BE ABLE TO EXPERIENCE THE SHORE AND TIDE COMING IN BY THERE BEING RAISED TILESONTO THE BANK WHERE CHILDREN CAN RUN JUMP AND PLAY ON THE TILES AND GRIDDED POLES

USER A WILL BE WALKING ALONG SIDE THE FACADE AND WILL EXPERIENCE STEPPING INTO THE STRUCTURE FROM THE MILLENNIUM BRIDGE. THE USER WILL THEN BE DIRECTED TO THE DEDICATED SMOKING AREA WHICH WILL BE A OPEN SPACE FOR WORKERS TO MEET UP AND SOCIALISE

PATHWAYS + Bird feeder Pathways + Blossom tree

On the first floor the public are guided above the vertical gardens and are navigated on a path that circulates round the blossom tree. This is where they can collect bird feed and feed the exotic birds within the aviary on the second floor. The blossom tree also acts as a natural shade in the summer months for the office spaces behind the proposal.

STRUCTURE SECTION + Collage

1:100 MODEL DETAIL + Dual Skin Facade Illumination at night + cage details

My Brief was to include an aviary within this public space on St Paul’s Walk and so the creation of a double skinned facade was created. This allowed the birds to have their own unique habitat separated from the public. This idea I was very fond on as when the facade is illuminated at night you would see this mesh pattern shadow projected on to the facade.
