HUMAN NATURALNESS The real aim of our product range is to combine simplicity and originality, performance and balance, naturalness and detail. We have kept the production concepts, which we developed according to the most traditional elements of the artisan’s craft, unchanged. Our creations are the fruit of true Italian craftsmanship, which means we can offer our customers a product with a comforting feel that is extremely natural, even visually, and which above all possesses distinct and verifiable Italian originality. People are the essence of our products: the solid wood, the selection of the veneers, the calibration of the numerical control machines, the sanding machines and the hydraulic presses, these are all just tools to give material expression to the human will.
LISTENING ENVIRONMENT Respect for the balance between an existing environment and the furnishings positioned inside it is what we call design. This is the aspect that is most characteristic of the origin of the products that are bought every day, and the Italian design tradition is the most important at a global level. But what about design from an acoustic point of view, that is, the necessary balance between the acoustic energy distributed in a room and the room itself? We believe this to be the fundamental aesthetic aspect of our products, which is why, thanks to consolidated scientific research in various fields, including psychoacoustics and environmental acoustics, we have developed our products based on a mathematical model of acoustic energy distribution that takes into account where the loudspeaker is used. It is precisely because of this that our loudspeaker provide a well-defined acoustic energy distribution that controls the effective balance between direct energy and reflected energy that the listener has to hear so that their perceptual system receives the essential information in a well distributed and directed way. This enables the listener to understand the intrinsic musical content, thereby overcoming the difficulty in identifying each piece of information received, and thus reducing listening fatigue. This is why we created identification labels for each product that determine if it is suitable to be positioned in a room with correct, adjusted acoustics (specific), or if it is suitable to be positioned in any confined space (universal). Of course the label also gives specifics about the dimensions that the room itself needs to have to ensure that the product works perfectly.

Amplifier Impedance Suggested Power Amplifier
SUGGESTED POWER Power, control, and natural emission do not rely solely on the loudspeaker itself, but the amplification system also contributes to the final result. This is why we want to indicate the recommended average power for each individual loudspeaker in our range on the relevant label, as represented at the side. This is to deal with the coupling difficulties that users sometimes face in terms of the availability of information both about the loads that loudspeakers work best with, and regarding the power actually supplied by amplification equipment. The key indication to pay attention to above all is the indicated impedance. The power supplied is not a binding factor: if it is more than what is suggested, then obviously this is a positive and completely favourable condition, while in the opposite case the system would of course proportionally lose out on factors such as dynamics and pressure. Each of our technical indications always suggests an average power and a precise impedance.

double flex woofer Research into and development of new technologies, materials, shapes, and components are an effective business branch in the Chario organisation, as well as a real necessity to be able to create products that are always innovative and always have significantly improved performance. The development of the membranes used to make the loudspeakers in the Syntar line began with an ambitious goal to be reached, which was to reduce distortions in order to enable full detail and naturalness of emission of the reproduction that was very similar to the most evolved models in our range. This goal was reached by using a membrane with no slits with a non-symmetrical double curve. The result we achieved was exactly what months of studies and psychoacoustic research and analysis of the human perceptual system had indicated as the ideal solution.

Syntar r Evolution of the Syntar line, but with concepts and presuppositions from the Constellation line. The cabinet is made of real wood with a special technique that combines four different veneers on the sides of the unit. The solid wood edges lend an extremely mellow, vintage look to the entire system. It’s easy to imagine how difficult is it to create a unit that contains solid wood, mixed veneers, and rounded edges. At the same time, studying how skilfully the individual features of the different types of wood that make up the unit are treated reveals how much of a privilege it is for us to create the unit for this loudspeaker, the woodworking of which is the embodiment of art and master craftsmanship. This is a line completely dedicated to stereophonics, naturally exciting performance, and cutting-edge technology applied to the components.

WOOD OBJECTIVE As well as the different types of wood with which this series is made, the special technique used to create the side of the loudspeaker is truly unique in the hi-fi world. Four different veneers meet at the centre of the side panel, all of which follow and ensure the continuity of the grain and the finishing on all faces of the unit. The veneers are combined by skilfully cutting the wood so that the point where the four finishes meet is absolutely precise and flawless, creating a true central point on the panel. The four veneers, placed in four respective directions, create a unique effect, reflecting the light in a different way and thus characterising the finish of the unit itself through horizontal and vertical pairs. The interplay of light on the matt and shiny surfaces reveals the intrinsic characteristics of the open-pore wood.

BEHAVIOUR IN THE ENVIRONMENT The woofer in the upper part of the unit has a special function in this model. All other models in the Constellation line interact with the environment so that undesired reflections are controlled to limit their influence and increase intelligibility and ease of listening. In order to achieve this aim, Ursa Major uses variation of the design that enables total regularisation of the entire audio spectrum, drastically improving the result. The loudspeaker in the upper part of Ursa Major, a 160mm woofer, is responsible for this extraordinary effect. This driver generates acoustic energy in contra-phase that is perfectly controlled by the crossover and the initial reflections from the floor and ceiling. The cuts down on primary resonance from the air mass present, which consequently does not degenerate the second and third harmonics, automatically regularising the response in a frequency up to 300 Hz. Thanks to this technology, the intelligibility of the low frequencies reaches levels that have never been achieved before. The listening fatigue is reduced thanks to the clarity of information perceived on all reproduced frequencies. This is due to the fact that the components that Ursa Major interacts with directly, themselves act directly to make the entire acoustic spectrum more intelligible.
