Wedding and Engagement

Designing my engagement ring is what really got me hooked on jewelry design, and it has been one of the great honors and joys of my life to continue designing wedding and engagement jewelry over the last 11+ years. I have designed rings with many different materials to achieve different price points and margins. Here is a selection of my favorite designs over the years.

Demi-Fine Gemstone Jewelry

In my work for Bradford Exchange, I often designed pieces in sterling silver or vermeil with gemstones, reaching the target market at a lower price point. Here is a selection of my favorite demi-fine gemstone designs.

Family & Birthstone

The family and birthstone jewelry I have designed is some of the most special to me, because it is so personal both to me as the designer and to those who wear it. These items were also huge commercial successes that continue to sell well a decade after their introduction.

Novelty and Niche Jewelry

Designing novelty items for niche markets is a fascinating challenge because it so often requires putting one’s taste and ego aside, designing entirely with the end consumer in mind. While many of these pieces are not something I would personally wear, they are strong sellers because the availability of similar items is limited. For example, the camouflage wedding bands I designed in 2015 are still a best seller, heavily featured in social media. The enamel puppy pendants were the first items I designed to hit 2 million dollars in revenue. I expanded the line to 30 breeds. Recently, that line has been replaced by the yorkie moon and back pendant I designed in 2019. These are pieces that can’t be found at just any jewelry store, and that is their strength.

The licensed collectibles customer and the pet parent share the desire to “show and tell.”

These bracelets appeal to this with their beautiful sculpts, crystal accents, and detailing. Their construction allows space for an engraved message inside the bracelet as well as on the “collar” or necklace area, but is still hollowed out to save weight and expense.

Licensed Jewelry

Working with licenses was a major part of my work with Bradford Exchage, and a very fun challenge. The variety of licenses we worked with each had their own style guides and a unique look and feel. Disney® jewelry typically has detailed character sculpts, while Bob Mackie jewelry was designed to coordinate with his fashion sketches. Licensed pieces also require a more complex proofing process as the samples need to be approved by the licensor as well as internal stakeholders. If you are working on a licensed project, please reach out! I’ll be happy to assist.
