PRODUCT ILLUSTRATION & DEVELOPMENT When I left my full-time position at Bradford Exchange, I continued working with the team on a freelance basis. Working with loose design briefs, or from my own knowledge of the company’s successful products, I created product renderings for the team’s concept development meetings. This example shows my product development process, using two rings I had previously developed for the company combined to make a new mother’s ring. CUTE COUTURE PENDANTS This line brings collectible toys to life as wearable pendants with articulated movement and a stylized cartoonish look, capturing the maternal instincts of the target market segment. The ‘Playful Pup’ pendant line, above, was one of the company’s top sellers for several years. The expansions to the line have also done well, in particular those geared towards a granddaughter gift. Building on the success of the various cute couture pendants, we tried the template with Disney® and Peanuts®. The Mickey Mouse and Snoopy pendants both also included Collector Cards and branded packaging, which I designed using Style Guide artwork from the respective brands. The licensed collectibles customer and the pet parent share the desire to “show and tell.” These bracelets appeal to this with their beautiful sculpts and detailing. Their construction allows space for an engraved message inside the bracelet as well as on the “collar” or necklace area, but is still hollowed out for a less expensive construction. FASHION PLATE PRINCESSES BOB MACKIE FASHION JEWELRY
The Bob Mackie collection draws inspiration from his fashion illustrations for thematic and color exploration. We met with Mackie himself and presented our ideas on developing a line with him, utilizing his fashion illustrations as a Marketing Results thematic inspiration. This was successful and the line has continued to expand. FASHION PLATEOFPRINCESSES THE STRENGTH FAMILY
Taking inspiration from past department successes; the family diamond bracelet (left) and the Christian diamond ring (center), I designed the Strength of Family Ring (right) to symbolically represent the unity of family using the braid motif. The look and messaging of the ring resonated strongly with the market and became one of the company’s top selling mother’s-day gifts.
