BOOK HOUSE PROJECT
What does the “Book House project means? In 2011, following on from the success of the Book Ger, Go Help opened the Book House in a deprived area of the Nalaikh district on the outskirts of Ulaanbaatar. Go Help organises regular activities and projects such arts and crafts lessons, English lessons and computer courses. There are frequent competitions for the children too, such as drawing, poetry and singing competitions. The Book House aims to increase the reading, writing, listening and speaking skills of the local children and also aims to provide a space for stay-at-home mothers and retired citizens to start reading and socialise between themselves.
In 2012 In 2012, an amazing total of 1591 children visited our Book House to read the many books there and enjoy themselves. We also had 26 children of the Nalaikh district take part in over 90 hours of English lessons taught by our volunteers.
Activities Our Book House librarian arranges story-telling hours, helping children with their daily homework after-school and organises arts and crafts workshops. With our help, she is able to organise art, poetry and singing competitions among the local boys and girls.
