This is the story of a pilgrimage on the Camino de Santiago, told with black and white photographs taken during the journey. Why black and white images? Monochrome photos focus the viewer’s attention, and strip away the distractions and frivolity of colour. In that sense they are metaphors for the simplicity of pilgrimage life. They tell a minimalist tale of the sacred and the small wonders that appear on the pilgrim’s path while walking. If you have completed a pilgrimage on the Camino, then enjoy the recollections these photos may bring. Perhaps they’ll inspire you to take to the road again! If you haven’t walked the Camino (dare I say, ‘yet’?) I trust this collection will make you look forward to your pilgrimage even more. Because once you’ve embarked upon and completed a pilgrimage, you’re not finished. You’ve started a lifelong journey. Charl Durand
